Sinners: Blood on the Juke Joint Floor

Horror fanatics, and let’s be honest, all film lovers, prepare yourselves – Sinners has arrived. Brought to you by revolutionary director Ryan Coogler, this supernatural musical odyssey takes us deep into the shadows of the Mississippi Delta of the early 1930s, where love, hate, music, religion, lust, bigots, mobsters, and the walking dead collide.

The Plot: A Sinister Homecoming

Twin brothers Smoke and Stack, played by Michael B. Jordan, return to their hometown after years away at war and working for the Chicago mob. Hoping for a fresh start, they purchase a saw mill with the plan of turning it into a juke joint for the local black community. But their dreams of success take an unexpected turn when evil forces come knocking.

Sinners‘ Cast: A Star-Studded Nightmare

Sinners flaunts a powerhouse ensemble cast, bringing its tale of blues and death to life with a cast every director would die for.

  • Michael B. Jordan, of Creed and Black Panther, delivers dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack. They are trying to leave their violent past behind them, only to step through a door that leads to something much more sinister than they ever imagined.
  • Hailee Steinfeld of True Grit plays Mary, a mysterious young woman with secrets of her own.
  • Miles Caton, in his first film, portrays Sammie, an ambitious young blues player whose music conjures evils beyond his understanding.
  • Jack O’Connell of Rogue Heroes is Remmick, an Irish immigrant who shows up one night just looking for a place to play his folk music and meet new victims, I mean friends.
  • Wunmi Mosaku, of Lovecraft Country, stars as Pearline, a voodoo-practicing woman who seems to be the only one who has a clue about the evil visiting their town.
  • Omar Miller of Ballers and The Miracle of St. Anna plays the fun-loving Cornbread, who is brought in for security. Will he keep everyone safe or drop the garlic?
  • Delroy Lindo of Malcolm X and The Harder They Fall, rounds out the cast as Delta Slim, a legendary bluesman whose wisdom and years of dealing with hate in the south is central to the history and themes of Sinners.

The Sinister Sounds of Sinners

With Coogler in the driver’s seat and Ludwig Göransson composing the score, expect a musical experience that is not only terrifying but will also make you want to immediately stream the soundtrack. The haunting blues score and soundtrack of Sinners delivers as much as any of the visuals. With its frightening slide guitar riffs, tear-jerking harmonicas, and gospel hymns that we are confident reached heaven, the sounds of this film create an atmosphere thick with not only tension and fear, but love and optimism. Watch this one loud!

Sinners‘ Release Date & Trailer

Sinners will hit theaters nationwide on April 18, 2025.
