Haunted Places in South Dakota
South Dakota is one of the least populated states in the union so it’s only fitting that it’s also one of the most haunted as well.
Devil’s Gulch in Garretson is one such place. The long-standing oral legend is that a pair of runaway lovers tried jumping the gulch to escape a band of marauding Native Americans and there was a massive shootout ensuing. To this day, the haunted screams and apparitions of all parties involved can still be heard and seen in the gulch.
The Dakota Theater in Yankton is one of the more mysterious haunts, as this quaint little venue is home to a spectral face that has been seen floating throughout the building with no known origin at all.
Deadwood is a great spot for history fans of the brutish Gold Rush territory days and there is no better spot to experience those, one of a kind haunts, than the famous Bullock Hotel.
Massacred spirits, disembodied apparitions, and roustabout spirits, South Dakota is a can’t miss for haunted states.
