Based on Stephen King‘s creepy short story, The Monkey promises to be a film full of a spooky blend of gore and LOLs. It was directed by Osgood Perkins of Longlegs fame and produced by James Wan of The Conjuring universe so we should be in for a terrifyingly good time.

The Monkey Plot

When twin brothers, Hal and Bill Shelburn, discover their father’s seemingly harmless toy monkey, less-than-harmless things begin to happen. As the death toll rises, the twins decide that maybe they should dispose of said monkey toy. Despite their efforts to get rid of the cursed toy, the monkey keeps returning, forcing the brothers to find a way to break the cycle of terror. But will they succeed in ridding the earth of this toy menace? Time will tell.

Cast of The Monkey

Theo James of The Gentlemen fame plays the struggling twins and shares the screen with The Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood and Tatiana Maslany of She-Hulk.

Plenty of horror movies are coming out, but one has gotten much attention lately. Longlegs premieres in theaters on July 12, and horror fans are excited about it, with the trailer already spooking horror fans. Let’s find out more about Longlegs and what to expect from it.

Longlegs Cast and Plot

Longlegs was directed and written by Osgood Perkins. The cast includes Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Maika Monroe, Kiernan Shipka, and Blair Underwood. Monroe stars as new FBI Agent Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage stars as Longlegs, the Satanic serial killer in the movie. Bliar Underwood is Agent Carter, and Alicia Witt stars as Ruth Harker, Lee’s mother. The release date for the film is July 12, 2024, and the excitement about this movie is growing more every day.

Longlegs

What is the movie all about? Longlegs takes place in the 1990s. Lee Harker, one of the main characters in the film, is an FBI agent who is new to the force. She has been assigned to work on an unsolved case that involves a Satanic serial killer. This killer is called Longlegs.

There has been quite a bit of occult evidence discovered in this case, and Harker will soon realize that she is closer to this case on a personal level than she ever thought. When she learned this information, she wasn’t sure how to react. Will she be able to solve this case to prevent another murder from happening?

This movie has been talked about since November of 2022. Then, Perkins mentioned that he was ready to direct a movie he had written. Fans of the horror genre soon got this information and wanted to learn more about the film. Word got out that Nicolas Cage had signed on to play a creepy, Satanic serial killer and was ready to show fans just how terrifying he could be on the big screen.

Pre-screening Reviews for Longlegs

The responses to Longlegs‘ pre-screenings have been pretty positive. On the website Rotten Tomatoes, those who have already watched the film left great reviews. One review wrote that Longlegs is:

“a masterpiece; an unholy, horrifying confluence of high art and anxiety, a film in which every frame is a nightmare, and it’s beautiful.”

Another reviewer added:

“Longlegs is as stylish as it is timeless, dripping with claustrophobic dread and rot.”

Other reviews deem the movie one of the:

“most terrifying horror movies of 2024.”

With all of the reviews about Longlegs, it seems it will be one of the best horror movies of the year and possibly best films. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not only is this a horror movie, but it is also a psychological thriller like no other.”
