It isn’t that Bates Motel, but it’s speculated that the author of Psycho, Robert Bloch, stayed in the hotel before writing the book that inspired the 1960 film. This hotel was established in 1945, having previously been a World War II soldier’s barracks. Closed in 2015, Coeur d’Alene’s Bates Motel is still an icon for Idaho’s paranormal lovers.
