Movies

You know what they always say – be careful what you wish for.

In the newest and hottest horror movie, Obsession, Bear (Michael Johnston) uses a “one wish willow” to get his crush, Nikki (Inde Navarrette), to like him back. However, his dream slowly turns into a nightmare as Nikki becomes disturbingly obsessed with him.

The Twisted Mind Behind Obsession

Who is behind everyone’s latest horror obsession? American actor, director, and comedian Curry Barker is the film’s director. Barker began creating films and sketch comedies on YouTube alongside Cooper Tomlinson. They are known for their YouTube channel titled “that’s a bad idea”, which currently has 1.13 million subscribers.

Before becoming a director, Barker made some TV acting appearances in “Dave” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”. Barker made his directorial debut in 2024 with his found-footage film, Milk & Serial. This thriller went viral on YouTube, which led to Barker being noticed by United Talent Agency. He then directed Obsession in 2025, originally screened at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. Only a few days later, Focus Features bought the film’s distribution rights, and the rest is history.

Barker is a phenomenal director, and we can’t wait to see his next project.

The Obsession Cast

This cast delivers a groundbreaking performance and will surely have you wishing you had never bought your movie ticket.

  • Michael Johnston stars as Bear in this movie, the hopeless romantic who discovers how crazy love can be. Some notable works: “Teen Wolf”, Slash, and Endangered Species.

Just when you thought you saw the last of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the studio pulls you back in again with a new Conjuring prequelWith Last Rites smashing global box office records, pulling in $194 million worldwide in its opening weekend and grossing over $480 million worldwide, it is now one of the most successful horror films ever made. I guess they know we want more now?

The Conjuring Lives On: A Look Before The Warrens

While Last Rites was the Warrens’ “final chapter”, the prequel will focus on the real-life paranormal investigator’s early years. Word on the street is that the film will feature new actors, replacing Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who have played the Warrens since 2013’s The Conjuring premiere.  Both actors have hinted that their Conjuring journey has ended, with Farmiga saying, “Far as we know, there’s nothing else that they want from us.

Now the question is, who will be replacing them? We have some of our own ideas, but we will all have to be patient and wait. Check back for updates.

The Team Behind the Terror

The prequel is set to be directed by Rodrigue Huart, with the script written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, the duo behind The Nun 2 and Last Rites.  With their proven track record of blending a quality character-driven story with supernatural dread, horror fans can expect the same terrifying and chilling atmosphere that made us all fall in love with the series.

Expanding The Conjuring Universe

The terror isn’t stopping at the big screen. HBO is developing a Conjuring universe series, ensuring that the Warrens’ legacy continues on multiple platforms. With both a prequel film and an online series coming, the franchise is evolving into something bigger than we ever expected. Our baby is all grown up!

When Is The Conjuring Prequel Release Date?

Little is known yet about when we might catch The Warrens on the big screen again. Since the project is still in early developement, insiders suggest that the film won’t likely be released until late 2026 or even 2027. We will update you as soon as we know more. Stay tuned!

As horror films of 2025 quickly draw to a close, horror movie fans are looking forward to what the next year has to offer. Thankfully for them, 2026 is shaping up to be a brilliant year for horror enthusiasts. While there are some new and original horror films to enjoy, there are also plenty of sequels that people have been waiting for.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the most anticipated horror flicks coming out in 2026.

New Nightmares Unleashed: Horror Movies That Will Dominate 2026

Scream 7

Scream 7

Slated to come out on February 27th, 2026, Scream 7 is the latest addition to the long-running series that dates back to 1996. It stars Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Roger L. Jackson reprising their roles, and also features appearances from Joel McHale and Matthew Lillard.

It’s the first Scream film directed by Kevin Williamson, who is the original screenplay writer and creator of the franchise.

While not much is known about the plot, Williamson has said that with Neve Campbell back, she wanted to return to the vibe of the first film, focusing more on being suspenseful and scary than gory. Either way, you can be sure that Ghostface is going to do all they can do to make life hell for Sidney Prescott and her friends in Scream 7.

Terrifier 4

Terrifier 4

After the huge success of Terrifier 3, which grossed over $90 million at the box office, Damien Leone is back with Terrifier 4. Like the other films in the series, Terrifier 4 stars David Howard Thornton as the demonic serial killer, Art the Clown. It also stars Lauren LaVera as Sienna Shaw, who looks to defeat the killer clown, saving herself and her family in the process.

While Art the Clown has remained mysterious throughout the series, Leone has publicly stated that he’s finally going to reveal Art’s origin and how he came to be. However, he also said he won’t pull the curtain back too far, as he doesn’t want the character to lose his mystique.

With this film being the conclusion of the Terrifier saga, according to Leone, expect it to give fans the answers to questions they’ve been wondering about since the first film was released in 2016. Will it be able to match the commercial success of Terrifier 3? Only time will tell.

Scary Movie 6

Scary Movie 6

Scary Movie 6 is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 12th, 2026, and is the first film in the franchise to come out in over a decade. The film sees Anna Faris and Regina Hall make their triumphant returns to the series, and the Wayans brothers are also coming back to the franchise for the first time since Scary Movie 2.

While the exact plot is being kept a secret, expect this movie to be full of horror movie spoofs, cliches, and the over-the-top comedic horror situations that the series has been known for since it debuted over two decades ago. The film is being directed by Michael Tiddes, who is best known for directing A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2.

How will the first Scary Movie in the last decade stack up to previous releases, and what sorts of horror movies will it spoof this time? You’ll have to check it out in 2026 to find out.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Few zombie or post-apocalyptic film franchises are as beloved as 28 Days Later. The franchise centers on the outbreak of the Rage Virus, which causes infected individuals to become mindless killers, and also details the lives and hardships of survivors.

Despite 28 Years Later (the third installment in the series) just releasing in 2025, the sequel is already scheduled to come out on January 16th, 2026, as the films were shot back-to-back. It’s being directed by Nia DaCosta, who is best known for directing Little Woods, Candyman, and The Marvels.

Not much is known about the plot, but many of the actors in 28 Years Later retain their roles in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, such as Cillian Murphy, Alfie Williams, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. Will this sequel get as much love as 2025’s installment (which grossed over $150 million at the box office) or will it fall flat?

Evil Dead Burn

Evil Dead Burn

Coming out on July 24th, 2026, Evil Dead Burn is the sixth installment in the Evil Dead series that dates back to 1981. It’s a standalone entry in the series and stars Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, and Luciane Buchanan.

It’s being directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who was chosen because series creator Sam Raimi was impressed with his directorial debut in Infested.

As the film only just began shooting in July of 2025, there’s not much information about the plot or story. However, expect much of the same violent horror, possession, and gore that the Evil Dead series is known for.

It may be even more intense, as Vaniček has publicly stated his desire to make it even more extreme and disturbing. You’ll have to tune in when it releases to find out just how terrifying and gory it actually is.

Send Help

Send Help 2026

Send Help is a survival horror film that’s releasing on January 30th, 2026. It tells the story of two colleagues who get stranded on a remote island after a plane crash, and must work together and get beyond past issues with one another to survive. The film stars Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, Chris Pang, and Dennis Haysbert.

It’s being directed by the legendary Sam Raimi, who is best known for creating Evil Dead and directing the first three films in the series, as well as directing the Spider-Man trilogy. While everyone involved is relatively tight-lipped about the film, with Sam Raimi at the helm, we’re certainly excited to see what it’s all about when it comes out next year.

Werwulf

Werwulf 2026

Set to release on Christmas Day in 2026, Werwulf is a supernatural horror film set in medieval Britain and focuses on a werewolf that stalks a countryside village. It features a star-studded cast that includes Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe.

The movie is directed by Robert Eggers, best known for films like The Witch, The Lighthouse, and Nosferatu. While he’s told several unsettling and troubling stories over the years, he has said that Werwulf is his darkest by far.

With a strong lineup of actors and actresses, a brilliant director, and an interesting and dark premise, this is surely one to check out if you like a little horror around the holidays.

The Plot of Weapons: A Nightmare at 2:17 AM

Can you imagine waking up in the middle of the night to find the entire town’s children missing, minus one lucky youngster? At exactly 2:17 AM, an entire class of children just disappears into the night. But what evil force could have taken them? Why was only one child spared? The deeper the town investigates, the deeper the mystery becomes.

Cregger describes Weapons as “fun, scary, and inviting” but also “really messed up“, so you take that as you will. If Barbarian taught us anything, it’s that “fun” probably means agonizing dread, so we got that going for us.

The 4th installment promises to be the darkest and most disturbing chapter yet in this cherished horror franchise. Dare I say we are already clutching our rosaries?

The Conjuring: Last Rites Plot and Cast

After Ed’s heart attack in the previous film, the paranormal Sherlocks have stepped back from active investigations, mainly focusing on university lectures.  But when the Smurl family encounters a demonic presence in their Pennsylvania home, the Warrens are pulled back into the dark.

Director Michael Chaves isn’t pulling any punches, declaring:

“The Smurl case was the darkest thing we’ve ever seen in the series”.

The film also stars Ben Hardy as Tony Spera, alongside Rebecca Calder and Elliot Cowan as Janet and Jack Smurl, the terrorized homeowners. Mia Tomlinson also stars as Judy, the Warren’s now adult daughter, who is helping the aging couple take on this demonic presence.

    Release Date

The Conjuring: Last Rites Teaser Trailer

The Conjuring: Last Rites isn’t just the end of a great movie series—it’s the conclusion of an era that transformed modern horror. As James Wan puts it:

“The beating heart of this franchise is Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson playing Ed and Lorraine”.

And now, after more than a decade of terrifying audiences worldwide, Ed and Lorraine are ready to face their final demons. We miss them already!

Can you believe it’s been almost 30 years since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons lab, and then Jim woke up from his coma only to find an empty hospital, and then, well, you know the rest.  Now it is almost 3 decades later, and Danny Boyle is bringing the dead back with 28 Years Later.

28 Years Later Plot and Cast

Set in an unrecognizable Britain, small groups of uninfected people have learned to endure while living within a world of the infected. The film follows a community of people on Lindisfarne, a tidal island sheltered by a heavily defended passage.  The story follows Jamie, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Nosferatu, and his 12-year-old son Spike, played by Alfie Williams of His Dark Materials, as they venture off the island. Why would they do that?

28 Years Later: When Evil Adapts

Their world is torn apart when they discover a terrifying truth: the virus has evolved, making the original infected look tame in comparison.

Jodie Comer of The Bikeriders plays Isla, a pregnant woman battling against extinction, while Ralph Fiennes of Red Dragon and The Menu plays the mysterious Dr. Kelson, a man with more secrets than answers.

The film explores humanity’s perfect hell, a world where the infected don’t just kill the infected and die—they adapt, evolve, and patiently wait.

    Release Date

Be sure not to miss this summer’s most feared cinematic nightmare when it is released exclusively in theaters on June 20, 2025. Just remember: the infected don’t run anymore—they wait.

    28 Years Later Trailer

Need more horror films to watch this year? Here are some of the most anticipated horror movies of 2025.

Horror and comedy fans should prepare themselves because Death of a Unicorn is galloping into theaters this spring, and it’s bringing a mix of laughs, shrieks, and you guessed it… unicorns. This isn’t your average unicorn fairy tale – this is a darkly twisted comedic joyride that turns the tables on everything we thought we knew about mystical horned mammals. Why the long face?

Death of a Unicorn Plot (No spoilers, Promise!)

Our story begins with Elliot and Ridley Kintner, a father-daughter duo who accidentally strike a wayward unicorn with their car while traveling to a weekend vacation. What begins as a bizarre and unfortunate accident descends into pandemonium involving a billionaire boss, supernatural healing, and some very angry parents of the aforementioned unicorn. It’s a crazy blend of horror, comedy, and fantasy that guarantees a gripping and thrilling cinematic ride.

    The Cast

    Death of a Unicorn Cast

We aren’t going to lie, they had us at killer unicorn, but the cast is making this one a must-see. Paul Rudd of Ant-Man and Clueless stars as Elliot, the kind-hearted but unlucky dad. Jenna Ortega of Wednesday and Scream delivers, as usual, a standout performance as Ridley, his too-smart-for-her-own-good daughter. Alongside Paula and Jenna are Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Téa Leoni (Madam Secretary), and the always charming Richard E. Grant (Loki). With a cast like this, who needs unicorns? We all do is the correct answer.

    Release Date

Mark your calendars because March 28, 2025, is Death of a Unicorn day. It is also National Hot Tub Day, so we got that going for us, which is nice.

    Death of a Unicorn Trailer

Why Death of a Unicorn Deserves Your Attention

This film has it all: genre-defying surprises, elusive billionaires, glitter, and Paul Rudd as a hapless father. It has the quirky feel of an indie darling, the anxiety-provoking suspense of a horror film, and the sob-inducing family feels—all crammed into one glittery, mystical movie delight.

And here’s the kicker: it’s from A24. The studio that brought us cinematic perfection like Hereditary and Everything Everywhere All At Once. Expect it to be weird, wonderful, and maybe disturbing, but in a fun way. Trust us, this movie is as rare as seeing a unicorn and a sasquatch at a Brooklyn warehouse party on Mother’s Day. It doesn’t get any rarer than that.

Horror fanatics, and let’s be honest, all film lovers, prepare yourselves – Sinners has arrived. Brought to you by revolutionary director Ryan Coogler, this supernatural musical odyssey takes us deep into the shadows of the Mississippi Delta of the early 1930s, where love, hate, music, religion, lust, bigots, mobsters, and the walking dead collide.

    The Plot: A Sinister Homecoming

Twin brothers Smoke and Stack, played by Michael B. Jordan, return to their hometown after years away at war and working for the Chicago mob.
