Just when you thought you saw the last of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the studio pulls you back in again with a new Conjuring prequel. With Last Rites smashing global box office records, pulling in $194 million worldwide in its opening weekend and grossing over $480 million worldwide, it is now one of the most successful horror films ever made. I guess they know we want more now?
The Conjuring Lives On: A Look Before The Warrens
While Last Rites was the Warrens’ “final chapter”, the prequel will focus on the real-life paranormal investigator’s early years. Word on the street is that the film will feature new actors, replacing Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who have played the Warrens since 2013’s The Conjuring premiere. Both actors have hinted that their Conjuring journey has ended, with Farmiga saying, “Far as we know, there’s nothing else that they want from us.
Now the question is, who will be replacing them? We have some of our own ideas, but we will all have to be patient and wait. Check back for updates.
The Team Behind the Terror
The prequel is set to be directed by Rodrigue Huart, with the script written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, the duo behind The Nun 2 and Last Rites. With their proven track record of blending a quality character-driven story with supernatural dread, horror fans can expect the same terrifying and chilling atmosphere that made us all fall in love with the series.
Expanding The Conjuring Universe
The terror isn’t stopping at the big screen. HBO is developing a Conjuring universe series, ensuring that the Warrens’ legacy continues on multiple platforms. With both a prequel film and an online series coming, the franchise is evolving into something bigger than we ever expected. Our baby is all grown up!
When Is The Conjuring Prequel Release Date?
Little is known yet about when we might catch The Warrens on the big screen again. Since the project is still in early developement, insiders suggest that the film won’t likely be released until late 2026 or even 2027. We will update you as soon as we know more. Stay tuned!
