Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch in Emerado, ND

The Nelson family has proudly operated our farm since 1880.  Our pumpkin patch is located near Emerado, North Dakota.  It is owned and operated by Carrie and Todd Nelson and their three children, Tarah, Aaron, and Corey.  This summer we had a new member added to our family.  Congratulations Tarah and Jordan on your marriage.

Todd farms spring wheat, pinto beans, soy beans, corn, canola & of course pumpkins!  We also have over 700 honeybee hives that keep things buzzing around here! Carrie also keeps busy teaching second grade at a local school.

In 1996, we decided to invite our first school group out to visit the pumpkin patch hoping to give kids a taste of farm life during the harvest season.

We are very passionate about our business. We want the Pumpkin Patch to be a place for families to come spend quality time together, making lasting memories.  We also want it to be a place for kids and adults to reconnect with our agricultural heritage.

When you think about picking your perfect pumpkin to make that Jack-O-Lantern this fall, we hope you’ll bring your family to meet our family and continue to make memories with your trip to Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch! We look forward to seeing you at the patch!

RED VEIN Attractions

Redvyn Asylum

In 1868, a wealthy, but mysterious proprietor opened Redvyn Asylum, one of the first mental hospitals in Virginia. Built in Hanover County, the hospital was situated close to the ruins of a reform school named Providence, which was founded by the late Emily Redvyn, who in 1795 was accused and executed for practicing witchcraft. Under the care of the physician Dr. Caine, only a select number of patients were admitted to the asylum and operations were extremely private. The asylum closed in 1871 as suddenly as it opened, leaving very few medical or historical records. Stories of the creepy doctor spread through the area and children would scare each other with nursery rhymes about Dr. Caine, aka Dr. Insane. This year, visit RED VEIN’s brand new indoor haunted house… Redvyn Asylum!

Rabbit’s Cry Field

In the cornfield surrounding Providence, many spirits protect their sacred land and its family’s secrets. Entities from long ago and creatures from the depths of hell now roam the grounds. Rabbit’s Cry Field is an outdoor corn maze filled with terrifying monsters and gory sets. New for 2018… visit the Bunny Man’s house and a trip through the forest behind the Butcher Brother’s Smokehouse.

Providence Home For Wayward Children

A small facility named Providence Home For Wayward Children was founded by Emily Redvyn in Hanover County in 1781. Providence was known to accept children who were abandoned, those with mental and physical handicaps, addictions, or just needing guidance. A century after Emily’s execution, Providence reopened in the 1930’s under new ownership. Step inside RED VEIN’s main indoor haunted house attraction, which includes over 35 highly detailed scenes, incredible scares, special effects, and screams around every corner. New for 2018… updated sets, more animatronics, characters, and an expanded basement where you’ll finally meet Emily in her true form!

This year marks our 41st Annual Haunted House!!

In 1978, the ladies of the Sorosis Club came up with a fundraising idea that has grown into our Annual Haunted House. It was an instant hit for the residents in our community and they look forward to coming back every year. Many local residents have come through as children and are now sharing the experience with their own grandchildren!

H.H. Holmes World Fair 1893 – A Trip to Nowhere will open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from Oct 17th through Oct 26th starting at 7:00PM. Visit our Facebook Page for specific times. Each year our theme is changed to entice our audience and challenge their fears. Visitors are impressed with the creativity and special effects. Our scare factor is right up there with Halloween Horror Nights!!

The crimes of H.H. Holmes are the stuff of horror movies.  A good looking businessman lures many out of town guests into his brand new, grand hotel. He took great pleasure personally showing them to their rooms which they soon discovered only opened from the outsideThe hotel is not at all what it seems: stairs to nowhere, rooms made into gas chambers, peepholes, trap doors and chutes that lead into the most sinister room of all…the basement! Be prepared to come face to face with murder, madness and magic!
