Real Haunts in California

San Remo Haunted Hotel

San Remo Hotel

415-776-8688

2237 Mason St, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA

Built in 1906, this quaint little hotel was once named the New California Hotel. It was built right after a fire destroyed most of San Fransisco. At one time, it was said to have been a brothel. One of the ghosts seen and heard in the San Remo is said to be the Madame who once ran the hotel. In 1922, the hotel was renamed San Remo, and the guests were more upscale. They provided a full dinner in the dining room, and served alcohol in coffee cups during the time of prohibition. Read more…

The Haunted Westerfeld House

Westerfeld House

1198 Fulton St, San Francisco, CA 94117, USA

Located in San Francisco, California, and built in 1889 by a German immigrant, the Westerfeld House has played host to a most eccentric selection of guests and tenants over the many years. Russian czarists, famous musicians, and even a Satanic filmmaker have been mainstays at the home at one point in time. Looking closer at the Westerfeld, the activities both created and documented by LaVeyan Satanism follower Kenneth Anger is perhaps what stirred up most of the paranormal activity and opened up doorways to Hell. Drum Barracks

Drum Barracks Civil War Museum

310-548-7509

1052 N Banning Blvd, Wilmington, CA 90744, USA

It is hard to imagine that the Civil War reached far and away from the battleground states in the Deep South, all the way to California. Secessionist and southern transplant John C. Breckenridge had relocated to the newly founded Golden State and in the shocking 1860 Presidential Election, had actually received more than double the votes Abraham Lincoln did in this particular area. In a panic, Union enthusiasts boosted their efforts to have a presence in California, and in particular the Los Angeles area. Read more…

The 1959 National Hotel

1859 Historic National Hotel

18183 Main St, Jamestown, CA 95327, USA

Jamestown, California is a diminutive former California Gold Rush town that sits an hour east of Stockton. With a scant population that hovers a little over 3,400 people, Jamestown is not the busiest of California’s hot spots. However, situated just left to the center of town is the 1859 National Hotel and Restaurant. Considered to be the most frequented of all the hotels in the Jamestown area, the National is a treasured throwback of old-world California charm that can provide travelers with a timeless and elegant experience after a long day of shopping or wine tasting. City of Dark Angels Tours

(818) 616-4082

Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Los Angeles (aka The City of Angels) was a perfect inspiration for the City of Dark Angels concept.   With a jagged past, Los Angeles became a beacon for the Deadly Sins as the main cause of death.  Gangster activity, cults, and high hopes in a city of dreamers that often times couldn’t handle the consequences that the film industry of Hollywood painted onto them.  Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Pride, Sloth, and Gluttony.  And somehow Las Vegas ended up with the title, “The city of Sin”!  If they only knew it started here.
