There are several different Haunted Mansion rides at Disney theme parks worldwide. Walt Disney added the first Haunted Mansion ride to the park at Disneyland in California. Then, the Haunted Mansion ride in Orlando, Florida, was built. Today, there are five versions of this ride, and everyone is completely different. We would like to share all of the differences between the Haunted Mansions in the world of Disney.
The Locations of Disney’s Haunted Mansion
Disneyland in California
Disneyland is located in California, and the Haunted Manion ride there is based on a southern plantation. It is the original design for all haunted mansion rides and has become one of the most popular. Even though the ride looks very similar to the Magic Kingdom’s ride, there are distinct differences.
Magic Kingdom in Florida
The Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion opened in 1971 and is located in Orlando, Florida. This ride is based on Dutch Gothic and Hudson River-style architecture. It has many unique features that none of the other rides have.
Tokyo Disneyland
The Haunted Mansion, which opened in 1983 at Tokyo Disneyland, is located in the park’s Fantasyland area and resembles the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom.
Disneyland Paris
Phantom Manor is the French version of the Haunted Manion at Disneyland Paris. It was built in 1992 and is located in Frontierland. Most visitors consider it the scariest mansion in the theme parks. The Fourth Ward School in Virginia City, Nevada, inspired this ride.
Hong Kong Disneyland
The final Haunted Mansion ride is located at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is called Mystic Manor, and its focus is more on magic and mystery than death. Due to what Chinese culture believes about ghosts, there are no ghosts here. At Mystic Manor, objects come to life and float around the room.
These are the five locations of the Haunted Mansion at Disney theme parks, but what is so different about them? Let’s find out more.
Differences Between The Haunted Manion Rides
Disneyland Vs Magic Kingdom
When the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansions were built, park visitors felt they were very similar, but there are a few differences between these theme park rides. The main differences are the styles of the rides themselves. In Disneyland, visitors enter on the first floor, while in the Magic Kingdom, visitors enter the basement.
The elevator in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion is a stretching room and takes visitors down a floor. The stretching room in the Magic Kingdom doesn’t move at all. The portraits in these rooms are all very different in each location. Disneyland has a portrait hall, whereas Disneyworld has portraits throughout the ride, not just in one room.
The Disneyland Haunted Mansion features the same ghosts as the Magic Kingdom ride, but one ghost doesn’t appear in the Magic Kingdom. It is the Hat Box Ghost, which is only seen in the Disneyland ride. These two rides aren’t the only ones that have differences, though. There are three other Haunted Mansion rides all over the world.
Tokyo Disneyland Vs Disneyland and Magic Kingdom
Tokyo Disneyland has another version of the Haunted Mansion ride. It resembles both the Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom rides, but there are many major differences. One of the main differences is that it lacks many animatronic spiders and other creepy ghosts. However, this ride has plenty of horrifying features.
Disneyland Paris is the scariest?
At Disneyland Paris, the Haunted Mansion ride is Phantom Manor and is considered the Disney franchise’s scariest ride. The ride focuses on a bride who is haunting the mansion because her groom never made it to the altar to her. It is much darker than any of the other Haunted Mansion rides. There are animatronics and creepy ghosts, but this one terrifies visitors for some reason.
Hong Kong Disneyland Vs Ghosts?
The last Haunted Mansion ride is located in Hong Kong Disneyland. It is called Mystic Manor and is incredibly different from the others. This ride doesn’t have any ghosts because Chinese culture does not believe in ghosts. This ride is considered more magical and focuses on wizards, witches, and objects that can float independently. This is the most unique Haunted Mansion in the Disney franchise. Did we mention it is Disney Park’s only trackless Haunted Mansion?
All five of these rides have attracted people all over the world. If getting scared is what you are looking for, there is going to be a Haunted Mansion ride near you. Be sure to check them out to see which one is more up your alley and will scare you the most.
