Haunted US Grant Hotel in San Diego, CA Opening in 1910, the US Grant Hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is said that the ghost of Fannie Chaffee Grant haunts the US Grant Hotel to this day. Her husband, Ulysses S. Grant, Jr. built the hotel and remarried shortly after his death. Fannie’s ghost is said to be unhappy with her husband’s remarriage so soon after her death. It was a nice stay at first , but I kept on hearing knocking all night , it was very creepy and got louder and louder .
From what I learned from looking up info online is that the hotel is supposedly haunted by a woman who committed suicide before the hotel was built. Her body was found in the woods during construction and clearing for the hotel along with a gun. While I have never stayed there, I know that the body of a dead woman was found in those woods during the construction of the hotel along with a gun by her body and the police assumed she committed suicide. I know this is true because I worked across the street at Wal-Mart at the time and all the guys in the garden center kept talking about the dead body that was removed from the woods. Personally, I think that if this woman is haunting the hotel, she may be angry that her death was ruled a suicide. That’s my thought at least.
