The Old Haunted Captain Bartlett Inn is no longer

This haunted hotel is closed and has been torn down.

The old Captain Bartlett Inn was told to have floating orbs in the hotel, moving glassware and plates, strange lights in the halls, and a few strange paranormal occurrences. Unfortunately, the hotel has been torn down and is now the backyard of an Alaska residence. No news of hauntings have come from the residents to date, but if we hear anything you’ll be the first to know.

    I stayed there for a week in March 1992. I was fascinated with the show Northern Exposure and had the silly idea that I wanted to move to Alaska. I love the town and the hotel but as far as moving there I felt like I was at the end of the Earth. The hotel seemed fine to me at the time. The restaurant had bear on the menu.

Opened some time from 1901 to 1904, the The Historic Lowe Hotel has had sightings on the second to third floor. The third floor is the most active, with a former maid, a captain and a bearded man. Fourth floor guests also often report hearing the creepy sounds of a string quartet, and the otherworldly group plays day and night. Room 310 is Clara’s room, the ghost of Clara Lillyblad who owned the hotel from 1932 to 1972.
