Travel and Leisure named the Coombs House Inn one of the best bed and breakfast hotels in the country, but the magazine didn’t make mention of its haunted past. Built as a private home for James M. Coombs, the wealthy local man and his family moved into the house in 1905. Maria, his wife, loved the house but was heartbroken when a fire destroyed much of the property. The woman sadly passed away before ever getting to go back home again. Both staff and guests firmly believe that both Maria and James haunt their former home. Read more…

New Orleans has a colorful past and hundreds of ghosts. The Bourbon Orleans was a convent in the 1800s when yellow fever struck the city. Many of the ghosts that walk the halls of the hotel are those of children and young women who died during the epidemic. One of the spirits is a Confederate soldier. Many elaborate social events took place in the Grand Ballroom. People see the apparition of a woman dancing under the chandelier in the ballroom. Is the Ear Inn Bar Haunted? Ear Inn is one of New York City’s oldest bars, serving the Big Apple since the nineteenth century. Considering the bar sits next to the Hudson River, it is to no one’s surprise that it would be full of pirates, sailors, and other undesirables. And where there are undesirables, there is typically undesirable activities such as prostitution, constant bar fights, smuggling, and more.
