The end of July is upon us, meaning that if you haven’t already, you should start planning your Halloween costume. Luckily, if you’re out of ideas, we have a few ideas to kick-start your planning. Maybe even one of our ideas will make your list. Or, it will tell you what to avoid. Here are some of our popular Halloween costume predictions for 2026.
1. Obsession
This one, no doubt, will be the top of everyone’s list. This year, everyone was raving about Curry Barker’s Obsession, which made over $458.4 million worldwide. We suspect many Nikkis and Sarahs to be walking around this Halloween. If you’re dressing as Nikki, don’t forget to stand in dark corners. Oh, and the brick.
2. Bad Bunny
“Benito Bowl” made history this year, as Bad Bunny performed the entire show in Spanish. This performance made headlines, with 4.157 billion total global viewers. This Halloween, you could dress up as Bad Bunny himself, or as one of his backup dancers. People on Reddit have been predicting that some will dress up as the bushes. Whatever you go as, this will certainly be a great choice for this year.
3. Spider-Man
The release of Brand New Day will guarantee people walking around as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. You could even turn this into a couple’s costume and have your significant other dress as MJ. Remember, though, that wearing this costume comes with great responsibility.
4. Michael Jackson
HEE HEE. Michael Jackson regained his popularity this year after the biopic Michael had taken over movie theaters worldwide. Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late global superstar, portrayed his uncle in an almost scarily similar fashion. Get a white glove and start moonwalking all over the place this year, and relive the King of Pop’s glory days.
5. He-Man
This year is all about nostalgia, with the release of Masters of the Universe. If you’re going as Skeletor, get your Skeleton mask and purple hood. Get your sword and your muscle suit ready for this Halloween. And don’t forget to scream at random intervals, “I have the power!”
6. Alysa Liu
The 2026 Winter Olympics were monumental for the U.S. The internet was especially enthusiastic about 20-year-old Alysa Liu’s ice-skating performances, which won her a gold medal. Her unique hair, vibrant costumes, and smiley piercing are sure to make this costume very popular amongst the younger generation. All you really need for this costume is ice skates and a dress.
8. K-POP Demon Hunters
Although K-POP Demon Hunters was released last year, it’s certain to make a comeback this year. The popularity of this movie will guarantee plenty of people dressing up as the three leading ladies. If you need a costume, this one is a “golden” choice.
9. Toy Story
Toy Story will always be beloved amongst Disney fans and 90s kids. It’s pretty common to see people dressed up as Woody, Jessie, and Buzz every year during Halloween. However, this year, the 5th installment was released, receiving glowing reviews from Disney fans. This will most likely mean we’ll see a spike in Toy Story character costumes. We may even see some new character costumes, such as Lilypad the tablet.
10. Super Mario Bros
The colorful Super Mario Galaxy movie may not have been super popular this year, but it’s a great choice for a costume, especially for a couple. Dress up as Mario and Peach this year, and be the cutest couple around.
