It is hard to imagine that the Civil War reached far and away from the battleground states in the Deep South, all the way to California. Read more…
This place is indeed haunted. We stayed there on Labor Day weekend many years ago when it was called the Sea Holly Inn. My husband and I both experienced the bed shaking, and no it had nothing do with the two of us 😉
The lady in the other room also had a visit around the same time.
The Innkeeper bought that place, renovated it and for some reason, got the heck out of there before he seem to get the business going.
That place won’t sell!! They have marked it down so low yet nobody wants it. It’s only 1 block off the ocean with an ocean view on the 3rd floor. The floor that seems to be most haunted!!!! Where we stayed!
If anyone wants details of our experience, let me know.
I went there back in the late ‘80’s with my mother twice. The first time was charming, but uneventful. The second time, however, was not. One night, we went to bed, and my mom asked me to stop shaking the bed. I replied that I wasn’t, and we both slept with the covers over our heads that night.
The following morning, we related to the innkeeper, Christy, what had happened.
She mentioned earrthquakes as a likely cause. But I told her, having lived in California, that this was no earthquake- the bed shook! She turned white as a sheet herself.
Not long after that, I found out that she and her husband, Chris, were no longer the innkeepers. There may have been other incidents as Wendy related above.
Glad to know we weren’t alone in that.
But sad that it’s shuttered. Maybe no one wants to deal with what is beyond our understanding.
I am so glad we’re not the only ones to have experienced this!!! I am just reading your comment and it gave me chills! I wonder what’s going on with the place now!!!!
We had a seance in the living room back in 2018 with the owners permission. It was about 20 of us. Nothing happened initially as we called for the spirits to present themselves. At the end of it we heard all this noise coming from the upstairs. Mostly banging sounds and a shut door. Sounded like they were angry. Nobody wanted to go upstairs. When we were all leaving, someone shouted “Holy crap…Look” when we looked up, one of the 3rd floor windows on the right was completely opened and the light was on.
