The Timberline Lodge AKA The Overlook Hotel from The Shining Timberline Lodge sits in Mount Hood National Forest in the state of Oregon. The hotel is most recognized as the hotel that was used for the exterior hotel shots for the Stanley Kubrick version of The Shining starring Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall. The film was based on Stephen King‘s novel of the same name. King and Kubrick did not see eye to eye on creative decisions for The Shining, but regardless the movie remains a classic. Read more…

The Haunted McMenamins White Eagle Hotel McMenamins White Eagle Saloon and Rock & Roll Hotel has been in business in one form or another since 1905. From an alleged opium den to a brothel to secret tunnels there has been a lot of activity at the White Eagle. This raucous history has paved the way for lots of ghost stories.
