There’s a slight chill in the air. The lights flicker. While you may be able to chalk such happenings up to an over-active imagination, it’s a little more difficult to explain the full-fledged apparitions reported by some guests at this Rawlins, WY, B&B. The ghostly visions most reported are of a woman and two male children. According to local legend, one of the kids may be the ghost of Cecil Ferris, a boy who was accidentally shot and killed when the B&B was a home. However, for the Chapman Inn of Bethel, Maine they not only embrace the fact that their place is haunted but take things another step further by openly saying they are “officially haunted”. Built by Nathaniel Kellum back in 1847, La Carafe on Congress Ave, is one of the oldest bars in Houston. The building is said to be haunted by the ghost of an African American man who has been seen by many visitors. The building has a ton of history and has remained intact throughout the years. The building originally housed The Kennedy Bakery, served as a Pony Express station and was passed down by 5 generations of the Kennedy family before the current owners, The Wenglars purchased it. Stayed here on August 14, 2021 with a friend – room 413. For hours we just couldn’t fall asleep. Around 1am shortly after last chatting about still being awake my friend start making these demonic wailing sounds. I shook her and called her name as it went on for 6 or 7 seconds. When it was over she didn’t know what it was that had come over her but felt it as it was happening. We didn’t know if it was a seizure or something paranormal. When we managed to turn one of the bedside lights on we both opened our phones at the same time. The time was 1:12am. Later I would learn that the woman who supposedly committed suicide in this hotel did so in room 112. I immediately googled “haunted hotels in Vermont” and bingo — multiple results confirmed this location. I continued to research the woman’s death and found a Wall Street Journal article about it. A subsequent article was found from a year or two later about the victim finally being identified.
We packed our stuff and left.
