I stayed here several years ago. My great grandfather’s family owned it from 1892 to about 1915. His mother, sister and one of his brothers died in that house. I stayed in the second floor right corner room, and I believe I experienced an olfactory haunting. I woke up in the middle of the night with the most rancid strong tobacco odor that was only in my room. The restaurant was closed and no one else was staying there that night! I stepped out into the hall and smelled nothing. I threw open all the windows but the smell stayed with me til dawn….then disappeared. Hoping it was just the family greeting me.
