Overview
Is the General Lewis Inn haunted?
The Historic General Lewis Inn is a known haunted location that houses three or more ghosts. The most haunted rooms are reported to be rooms 202, 206 and 208. If you book one of these rooms, expect to have an unpleasant night’s sleep. Crying, laughing and generally disruptive ghosts haunt these rooms. One ghost is known only as the Lady in White in room 208, and a portrait of her is hung in the room. There is also an unknown girl, and there is a slave named Reuben who often sits at the dining room table.
I stayed in room 202. We all heard about the ghost in 208, but I hadn’t heard about mine. No experiences though for anyone.
My daughter and I spent the night in room 206. The moment we entered the room we both felt a presence. The whole time we were in the room we both felt like someone or something was there with us. That night we placed a cat ball on the floor in the center of the room. We tested it to make sure it wouldn’t light up unless touched. We then feel asleep. Around 1:30am my daughter woke up to the cat ball lighting up. It then lit up 2 more times, and then I woke up to it going off again. We were both in the bed at least 5 to 6 feet away from the cat ball, and there was no other human in the room when this occurred. After this event the cat ball didn’t come back on until around 5:30 am. I believe the spirit was a child only wanting to play. With all that being said this is a wonderful place to stay and I wouldn’t hesitate going back because I don’t believe the spirit meant any harm.
