Haunted 1858 Garnett House Hotel in Garnett, Kansas Built in 1858, The Garnett House origins were as a hotel. It was the first hotel in Garnett, Kansas and is the only surviving antebellum structure in the town. Garnett House has operated in several capacities such as a residence, a school, a Doctor’s office, and hotel. The outlaw Jesse James was rumored to have stayed in the hotel as an alias at times.
