my husband myself and friend decided to stay at the riverstreet in last night. I had no idea it was haunted however I immediately felt something weird in the building. I kept saying this doesn’t feel right, this place is freezing and I KNOW people died here. we stayed in room 304 and almost immediately after checking in at 1 am stuff started happening. I was in the bathroom and I didn’t want to shower alone so I made my husband sit on the toilet while I showered. before I even touched the water faucet we heard a man breathing LOUDLY from a vent. I screamed, freaked the fuck out and ran out of the bathroom.later on we all three heard the same noise IN THE WALLS of the hallway and in our room. at one point the noise was actually coming from unidentifiable places as well as from under a desk and coming from the chair in the corner. they kept telling me it was just thinking walls, old building and a man snoring. but when I heard it at 11 am the next morning and so did everyone else I was like ok explain that shit huh!? well lights came on by themselves and the radio was unplugged when we came in. I’m assuming it was unplugged for a reason. when my girlfriends hair was lifted up off her shoulders and into the air and everyone saw it then they finally admitted to it being haunted. I stayed up the whole night I didn’t sleep. this place is absolutely fucking haunted. 5 stars for actually being haunted 1 star for scaring the shit out of me. never again
We’re in room 403. My husband and two young kids. We ended up falling asleep one in bed with each of them. At around 5am I felt the bed bounce a little initially and then again like someone was shifting. Then something started breathing very hard into my ear and almost a quick chuckle. I yelled for my husband and am now to scared to go back to sleep. Very creepy !!
My husband and I stayed in room 334. When we arrived there was a bedside table that had a door you had to turn a handle to open. We went out shopping and when we came back it was open. Weird but ok. We went to dinner came back open again. As we were laying in bed, it opened. My husband started cracking up because I was unaware as I was almost asleep! It is definitely full of crazy energy.
My sister’s and I are in room 501. We were watching TV and the ceiling fan and light went off and on twice but itself. The ceiling fan and lights are controlled by a remote. No one was near them.
Husband and I just stayed here for two nights, unaware when we booked that it was haunted, only that it looked like a cool place and reviews were good. We stayed on 5th floor, 518.
On first day, came back to room and noticed tv remote was missing from tv stand. Instead it was placed underneath king size bed in the middle area. I found it because I noticed the wooden support blocks under the bed were knocked over and took a peek under the bed. Weird place for a remote. It was NOT dropped there by us, and no one had been in that room that afternoon.
Then we went to eat dinner, came back to find my shoes had been moved from where I had left them beside wall, one underneath the bed in the exact spot where remote was found earlier and the other turned around. Again, no logical explanation. These were not major things, just a little unsettling. This spirit must like to put stuff under the bed just to get our attention.
I stayed at the Inn a few years ago now. Can’t remember which room I was in exactly but it was located in the new wing – the one where you had to pass by a grandfather clock to take the elevator up to your room. I stayed there over a course of 4 nights and it was the second night that things started to happen.
I returned after an evening out with friends for dinner when I noticed a hutch in one of the hallways open. I thought to myself that “someone might run into it” so I decided to close the hutch door.
After doing so, I headed to the elevator and walked down the hallway to make a right turn. As I turned the corner, I noticed all the doors to the grandfather clock were open! I pass by this clock day in and day out without incident but the one time I closed the hutch door – the clock doors were all open. This freaked me out and I quickly rushed to the elevator.
As I got into the elevator, I pressed the button to get to my floor and the elevator shook violently 3 times! The kind of shake that would put your ass on the floor kinda shake!. After that, the elevator took me to my floor, I got out and rushed into my room.
Thinking back on that day, I remember visiting one of the cotton vaults that were located beneath the Inn earlier in the day. I remembered how creepy it felt and I’m pretty sure slaves were housed there at one time prior to auctioning them off – that was the only think I can think of …
