The Haunted Driskill Hotel in Austin, TX The Driskill Hotel was built by Jesse Driskill and opened in 1886. The plan was to create the most luxurious hotel in all of Texas. That plan was succesful as the hotel played host to governor’s inaugurations as an annual tradition. Word is that Jesse Driskill lost the hotel in a poker game to his brother-in-law Jim Day. The Haunted Adolphus Hotel “Going up?” The common lilt of a programmed elevator voice took on a macabre tone when guests at The Adolphus hotel in Dallas, Texas, heard the automated question playing on loop while a series of elevator doors opened and closed by themselves. The haunted elevator is far from the only fixture in this hotel that has become privy to paranormal activity.
