While there aren’t many spirits at the Saybrook Inn, there’s one that frequents some of the events at the wedding venue located on the grounds of the inn. Guests of various weddings have captured the apparition of a phantom bride in their photographs after the event. There are no reports on the identity of the bride. Anyone visiting for a wedding should remember to bring a camera of their own to the event, so that they can capture this ghostly figure in her bridal gown. Read more…

Most bed and breakfasts are built with the original intentions of being an inn for weary travelers, however the Beechwood Inn of Cape Cod, Massachusetts originally was not purposed for this. The Beechwood itself was actually a private home residence between 1853 all the way up to 1980. Once sold, it was fashioned into a bed and breakfast to help capitalize on the frequent tourist and vacation industry that was locally popular. For a place that has been open less than forty years, it already has a haunted reputation. Read more…
In September 2009 my ex-husband and I stayed at the Belton Chalet for ten days. The hotel had actually closed for the winter and we were the last people staying there. They moved us into the Lewis cottage for a couple of nights before we boarded the train to go to our next destination. We had a very strange experience while staying in the Lewis cottage. There was a strange presence there the first night and while we were sitting in the living room, inexplicably, the fire extinguisher that was mounted on the wall fell off with a loud bang. A little time later, the door slammed. I would not have taken any of this as evidence of a haunting because both could have been explained away but then my husband who had had a few drinks jokingly said, “If there is someone here, please knock.” We both jumped when we heard a very distinct knock. We were unnerved but he asked another question to make sure we hadn’t imagined it. Once again we heard a knock in response. This happened three times. We didn’t know what to make of it and later when we went to bed, we both felt a strange presence in the room. The room became freezing cold and we struggled to sleep. The next day we left for Whitefish.
