Is the Captain Whidbey Inn haunted?
In 2007, the inn celebrated its 100th year. Along with an inn that hasn’t changed much in over 100 years, there are cabins where guests have frequently heard things that can’t be explained. There’s been the faint sound of girls laughing where there were no little girls. There’s a female apparition said to be roaming the halls of the inn. One person reported that he saw a friend scratched by a spirit too.
So I have never stayed in the inn it’s self but I lived in one of the houses one house away from the inn when I was growing up. I lived there for about 10 years. Me and my sister still remember the house to this day. We would hear people walking upstairs; distinct footsteps when there was nobody else home. The only reason I found out that it was both of us, was because I told my sister I heard footsteps and she told me that she heard the same and neither of us were home at the time. So it was only one of us at the house when we heard the footsteps and doors that would slam on their own, even people screaming or talking.
I remember I had the biggest bedroom downstairs and I would leave the door open because I always had an eerie feeling. I was so scared to sleep in that bedroom and when I left the door open because it would close on its own, or if I closed the door it would open on its own. Yes, I understand drafts, but this was not a draft even when the door was closed and locked, and I’m telling you it was locked, the door would f*#king open!!!! I actually had all windows along the whole side of the bedroom so I could see outside at the beach and it was beautiful but at night I remember several times if I didn’t have the blankets over the windows I would see faces in the windows. It scared the hell out of me. This is not a myth.
This place has so many spirits it’s disturbing the whole neighborhood including the Captain Whidbey Inn Hotel was built on an Indian burial ground!! I just found this out. There are a lot of spirits and a lot of ghosts in this area, some good and some bad but I can tell you right now that I still have dreams of being in that house that still that haunt me till this day. I love the Captain Whidbey Inn House that we lived in, there is a part of my heart and soul that will always be there!!! None of the spirits ever hurt us and I am not saying anything bad about it. I am only speaking from experience from living on that road. I don’t know anything about the Captain Whidbey Inn that would’ve happened there but I do know my own experience living right next to it for ten years and I do believe that that whole entire area is haunted because it was in fact built, all the houses and the Inn, on an Indian burial ground years and years and years ago.
