The Haunted Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg, West Virginia Old-world charm and a ghostly presence are what guests experience at the Blennerhassett. One of the spirits is that of William Chancellor, the former mayor. The mayor’s portrait was taken down when the hotel was being renovated, and he expressed his displeasure by dropping in unexpectedly on guests. When the restoration was complete, the visits stopped. Other manifestations include books flying off the shelves in the library and the sounds of children playing and laughing. Read more…

Built in 1929, this hotel is haunted by the occupants that could not escape a fire on December 20, 1970. The fire killed 28 people in the hotel including the owners who resided in the penthouse at the time. Most of the people perished on the top floor during a Christmas party for Hughes Aircraft (Raytheon). The top floor was rife with fire hazards and the building hadn’t been up to code because it was grandfathered in with hotel’s age. The hotel has been converted to an office building now, but the spirits of those 28 souls remain. Read more…

Stayed here for three nights in 2025 and loved it. Used the shared bath down the hall. Not sure if haunted, because traveling single I don’t want to get too in touch with that, but it has a lot of atmosphere, as the whole town does. I will definitely go back.
Stopped in late one eve to check if had a room two beds- I am aware n quite perceptive to energies. As I entered was greeted quite quickly by front of house staff n a white entity with flowing dress curiously staring at me on stairs near lobby. Yes I’d say spend a night if your looking for a active ghost hunt but sleep nope not here – not for me … sorry not sorry left as soon as I came in.
