When someone dies in a location they called home, they sometimes don’t leave. Three of the former owners of the Mason House Inn died while managing the hotel. The current owners are aware of five spirits haunting the inn. One ghost may be that of a guest who was murdered there.
The apparition of a young boy enjoys playing pranks. One ghost is a woman in a long, white nightgown. One of the spirits has the unnerving habit of staring at guests then disappearing in front of them.
The inn was a hospital in the Civil War era, and withstood flooding on five occasions when a lot of people lost their lives. A spirit in one room was responsible for one guest having a sleepless night. The man was awakened by tugging on his pajama sleeve. He thought it was his wife, then remembered his wife wasn’t with him.

Haunted Owyhee Plaza Hotel
The Owyhee Plaza Hotel has been a Boise landmark since it’s construction in 1910. Originally, the roof was used as a garden space with a restaurant, dance floor, and bar. This was the place to be in Boise, that is until 1940 when the Ore-Ida company bought the top three floors to use as their corporate headquarters. It was sold in 1992 to it’s current owner and is now one of the premier hotels in Idaho. Did we mention it’s super haunted?
Staff and guests agree that the Owyhee is home to more than just small shampoo bottles and bed linens. Spirits have been known to hang out in meeting rooms, the lobby, and lofts. But if you really want to stay the night with the dead, then book room 136. One guest reported seeing an apparition of a woman in her room watching her. Others have reported hearing strange noises throughout the hotel and the horrible feeling of being watched.

It isn’t that Bates Motel, but it’s speculated that the author of Psycho, Robert Bloch, stayed in the hotel before writing the book that inspired the 1960 film. This hotel was established in 1945, having previously been a World War II soldier’s barracks.
Closed in 2015, Coeur d’Alene’s Bates Motel is still an icon for Idaho’s paranormal lovers. It is said to be haunted and still continues to draw ghost hunters, film buffs, and paranormal lovers. Rooms 1 or 3 have been rumored to have the most paranormal activity. Many guests have reported a general creepiness while staying in these rooms. They have the feeling someone is watching them, have experienced cold sensations, and have watched their belongings move across the table. Norman Bates wouldn’t even be able to handle a night here. Check it out next time you are in Idaho, and while you’re at it bring your mother!
