Opened in 1895 by Ephraim Wells, the inn was originally built to provide a place for oil barons and upper-class citizens to relax. The founder is said to haunt this historic location, and the most haunted room is 324. The story goes that a maid went to clean the room, and she found the door stuck and was unable to open it. Each time she pulled the door open, it sucked itself shut as if someone was on the other side shutting the door. My family and I were staying at the Peabody for the week and several strange things occurred. I kept on having weird sensations and the strong feeling that someone was standing behind me. Sometimes these feelings got so strong that I woke up in the middle of the night. I also got stuck in one of the lifts for a few minutes, then the lift jolted and returned to work back to normal.
