Our group did an investigation here October 2016. We caught several EVPs, orbs, had a 30 minute EMF session with an intelligent spirit, as well as one of our members had her jacket tugged on after something knocked on the table. We will be posting all of our findings in the next month.
I worked there and had many strange things happen. I would have to walk the other waitress out. Many, many ghost stories.
My family owned the Rocky knob lodge between the years of 1976 to 1986. I do not believe in ghosts. But I do believe in demons and bad spirits. This happened mostly at night after we were closed. You’d be sitting in the bar and you could hear footsteps in the second floor hallway and bedrooms. You could hear the footsteps going from One room to the other or walking down the hallway upstairs. Another weird thing that would happen if you were in the bathroom upstairs facing the mirror sometimes it felt like somebody was standing behind you. But you cannot see him in the mirror it just felt weird. One time my mother just walked through the door from the kitchen to the bar and right after the door was shut you could hear water running. Something had turned on the gate valve completely open in the water was running all over the place no one else was in the kitchen.
I was the general manager along with the daughter of the late owner Sterling. I had customers send me pictures of my upstairs office to the right of the staircase at the very end of the hall with apparitions faces and something which I would consider demonic entity standing in my office window. I’ve had my hair pulled while doing payroll up in my office and I wouldn’t even dare to go to the left room at the end of the hall of my office you could just feel evil emanating out of there. My son worked there for a short time, 16 at the time of working there, and had nightmares at home for up to 6 months after he quit working in the kitchen there. My Cooks had hot buttered thrown on them in the middle of dinner rushes. Customers could hear people running up and down hallway above the bar. Eventually nobody would go up there after 3:00 p.m. so we had to put a hole in the floor of the bar into the office so they can throw the night back up there and even got a safe reconstructed into the floor in the kitchen it got so bad there were several times we walk down the stairs after coming out of the liquor room and our pots and pans would be all over the floor. Knives would move off the counter when the cooks were using them. We had a fire breakout in the back laundry room for no apparent reason in the middle of the night around 3:00 a.m. So many pictures of customer sending me I mean I have never worked in such a haunted place which was fearful and felt like home at the same time until the one night we were running my car after about 2:00 a.m. of closing and something decided to crawl into the car and start honking my horn over and over again for probably a period of about 5 minutes let me just tell you driving home that night was utterly to petrifying for me.
I worked there in 1977 I usually got off work about 11pm, lived in Darby
A cousin of mine, Bo Golden Jr owned this Lodge and lived there with his family until April 1985 when he died ‘accidentally’ by falling on a circular saw. The saw nearly decapitated him. And to top it off, the Funeral home that signed for his body is Dowling Funeral home, Box 666, Hamilton Mt.
