Curbed Seattle named Hotel Andra one of Seattle’s most haunted hotels. The hotel was built in 1926. It was the time of prohibition and loud parties. Today, guests as well as staff have reported hearing jazz and the sound of breaking glass from the 9th floor of the hotel. Whenever someone tries to investigate, the noise and music stops. Guests have seen apparitions in their rooms. In one room a paperweight levitates before hitting a glass table with a loud noise. The Lemp family who built the mansion experienced a lot of tragedy and drama in spite of their wealth. William Lemp shot himself in the house. William’s son was born with Down’s Syndrome and was hidden away in a secluded room. William’s wife Lillian was a wealthy socialite married for her money. The presence of Lillian, known as the Lavender Lady, is still felt in the mansion. When renovations started, unhappy entities made their presence known. The History of the Haunted Maribel Caves Hotel Now reminiscent of Western European Medieval castle ruins, the Maribel Caves Hotel originally began as a therapeutic hotel/spa where the “tired and worn” could be “invigorated.” Thanks to its unique location, both in close proximity to a natural spring and the railroad that passed through Maribel, the hotel became a popular rest stop for many traveling Americans throughout the early 1900’s.
