Poveglia Island is known as one of the most haunted places in the world. Located in Italy between Venice and Lido, the island was first noted in the historical registry in 421. Most of the residents fled the island in 1379 due to warfare. However, from 1776 until 1876, the island was solely used for quarantine stations during the plague, and then a mental hospital was located there.
