Looking for a nice getaway where you can enjoy sun, sand, poolside service and a volcano goddess? That’s just what you’ll get when you visit the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii. Not only does it have a restaurant for each of it’s 22 acres, it is home to Waikiki’s largest pool! If that isn’t enough for you than maybe some ghost hunting is more your speed.
The Ghost of Hilton Hawaiian Village
Most people believe that the ghost roaming the halls and beach of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel is no other than Pele, the “Volcano Goddess.” Legend tells us that Pele was the daughter of Kane Milohai and Haumea; creators of the sky, earth and upper heavens. She was believed to be born in Tahiti but was exiled, due to her horrible temper, to what we know today as Hawaii. When her older sister Namakaokahai found out where she was, she traveled to Hawaii to fight her younger sibling. Things didn’t end well for Pele, she was torn apart buy her sister and her remains were left in Maui on a hill called Ka-iwi-o-Pele. Sibling rivalry at it’s worst!
Apparently Pele really enjoys Hawaii and enjoys letting people know that she is still there. You may see her wandering the halls and taking a stroll down the beach. She is known to come in many forms; a hitchhiker, an elderly woman, or maybe a stranger who shows up at your door. Most people have seen her as a young woman in a red dress.
Is Pele Haunting Hawaii?
While the legend of Pele is the most popular, some believe that she is the ghost of a woman who was murdered years ago in the tower room. In 1959 a hotel employee saw the woman in red walking in the hall but she then vanished in front of him. He quit the next day and opened a poi factory. We cannot confirm that last statement.

The Haunted Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina
The rustic inn has been offering hospitality and ghostly sightings for 100 years. The body of a young, lady guest was found in the Palm Court in the 1920s. Guests have seen a pink mist or the apparition of a woman dressed in a pink gown. After interviews and fieldwork at the hotel, it has been established that the Pink Lady from room 545 is more than a myth.
The ghost of the pink lady & other paranormal activity
A guest’s two-year-old son inquired about the nice lady after waking up from a nap in the Pink Lady’s room. Workers refused to go into 545 because they got chills when they got near the room and neither of them knew about the apparition.
The manager of the hotel’s nightclub has seen the spirit on several occasions.
When the Grove Park Inn closed for the winter, employees outside saw all the lights on the sixth floor go on then off again.
After a New Year’s Eve party, at four a.m., two workers saw a woman in evening wear rush by the office. They went out to talk to her, and she disappeared.

Guests have complained of flickering lights in the rooms and very strange happenings. Guests have come back to their rooms to find all the lights on and the TV blasting. Things mysteriously turn on and off by themselves at very odd times as if someone, or something, is toying with them.
The owners say that a woman is rumored to haunt the kitchen, walk the halls from time to time, and has been heard wailing in the ballroom. She may be the ghost of a woman who was caught cheating and killed by her husband in the Tucson Radisson hotel. It appears her spirit has not left the scene of the crime and cannot find peace.
