The Hotel Alexandria opened in 1906 in Los Angeles to much fanfare. Celebrities and regular people alike turned out for its grand opening, but as times change, the hotel lost many of its fans. Despite becoming a cultural landmark, the hotel suffered a number of problems and eventually become an extended stay hotel. The Haunted Driskill Hotel in Austin, TX The Driskill Hotel was built by Jesse Driskill and opened in 1886. The plan was to create the most luxurious hotel in all of Texas. That plan was succesful as the hotel played host to governor’s inaugurations as an annual tradition. Word is that Jesse Driskill lost the hotel in a poker game to his brother-in-law Jim Day.
