2023 is already gearing up to be a huge year in horror. You’re destined to see many in-your-face slashers, ghouls, malevolent forces, and coked-up wildlife piling up kills so fast that you’ll need a Pet Sematary just to handle the carnage of it all. Trying to rely on search engine results to keep up with what’s happening in the horror film world can leave you frustrated; that’s why your hellion friends here at FrightFind.com are up to the task of keeping you in the know. Horror film calendar for 2023? Let’s go….

January Horror Releases

M3gan

Horror writer and uber-director James Wan has teamed up with Jason Blum to bring the latest and greatest in sci-fi horror to the new year. M3gan stars Allison Williams as a toy designer who creates a lifelike robot as a friendship aid for children. Tragedy unfolds when she gains custody of a young niece who can help experiment with the increasingly sinister AI machine with disastrous and bloody results. A total James Wan nightmare story? January 13, 2023, we are so there.

February Horror Releases

Knock at the Cabin

When you hear the name M. Night Shyamalan, you can’t help but entertain the outrageous and sometimes freakish plot he has in store for the audience. Based loosely on author Paul Tremblay’s The Cabin at the End of the World, the film will be centering around a secluded family during a literal apocalypse, when they’re suddenly victim to a hellish home invasion. The film stars former wrestler turned actor Dave Bautista in the lead role. After his zombie smash hit role in Army of the Dead, he’s definitely someone to watch slay it up during an apocalypse or home invasion either way. Coming to theaters on February 3, 2023.

Cocaine Bear

Cocaine Bear Movie

This is without a doubt the coolest horror film title of 2023, and yes, this is a horror flick for sure. Directed by Elizabeth Banks (of Slither fame), the film stars the likes of Kurt Russell, Jesse Ferguson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and the late great Ray Liotta. Set very true to the events in 1985, a black bear in the woods inadvertently ingests an entire duffel bag of premium cocaine and then goes into a munching, murderous rampage against many unlucky humans who run afoul of the coked-up bear. With a full-on Universal Pictures release to theaters, Cocaine Bear is going to be setting the gold standard for your nature-goes-on-a-murderous rampage flick. February 24, 2023, is gonna be a date in horror history!

March Horror Releases

Scream 6

Scream 6

The Wes Craven-less Scream 5 was a wild and bloody ride that horror execs took a chance on, and it paid off big time as one of the top streaming films of early 2022. This slasher franchise that dates back to 1996 is having quite the resurgence and, even with a sixth sequel, doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Veteran and recent franchise alums set to return include Courtney Cox, Jenna Ortega, and Hayden Panettiere. Naturally, the plot is being kept under the tightest of wraps, but the word on this sequel is that the Ghostface killings will ramp up again in Woodsboro and New York City. Ghostface in the Big Apple with unlimited slasher victims? March 31 is the latest release date to get in another…scream!

Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion 2023

Gotta have something for the kiddies right? If you’ve been to one of the sprawling Disney theme parks in the last fifty years, you’ll know that they do have a haunted attraction ride in their parks. Under the Disney film monolith, it was only natural that this one gets a bigger and better on-screen treatment. Set to star a large cast to include Owen Wilson, Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, and our girl Jamie Lee Curtis, Haunted Mansion will center around a single mom who moves into a gothic New Orleans mansion only to discover it’s packed with ghosts. Do the kids want to see a horror movie for once? This is their chance, and it goes down on March 10, 2023.

April Horror Releases

Salem’s Lot

Salem's Lot 2023

Just those two words alone should harken nightmares from the infamous flying vampire bedroom scene during the 1979 miniseries classic. Gary Dauberman of the IT horror franchise and The Conjuring universe are directing the chilling story of a writer returning to his childhood home in Maine to crank out another bestseller. He soon learns of a creepy new man in town with vampiric overtones that could be responsible for a grisly series of murders. A frighteningly original vampire story set in the always spooky aura of New England, this one is set tentpole vampire flick for April 21, 2023. And did we even mention this is a Stephen King film?

Renfield

Renfield 2023

Doubling down on vampire films and lore, Renfield is not one that too many are familiar with. He was the villainous henchman of Bram Stoker’s Dracula who helped facilitate the Count’s bloodthirsty needs. Nicholas Hoult is set to star in the titular role as the character finds himself in the always darkly atmospheric city of modern-day New Orleans, where he unwittingly finds the love of his life. His new love life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when Count Dracula, played by the now mega-popular actor Nicholas Cage, gets a whiff of his behavior. Sound preposterous? The film is directed by Chris McKay, who has somehow turned the little-known character exploits into a dark fantasy horror comedy. April 14, 2023, can’t get here fast enough.

May Horror Releases

Torture Night

Torture Night

Looking for that indie horror film that nobody has on their radar? This one is special for precisely that reason, coupled with the fact that this will be one of the first fully animated horror films. Writer and director Ryan J. Austin’s film will presumably center around a trio of gang-related friends who will run afoul of a sadistic killer in the middle of a deeply dark, sprawling park. Phantom Animation is cranking this one out, and you better believe the MPAA is already said to have hit this with the R rating.

July Horror Releases

Insidious: Chapter 5

Insidious: Chapter 5

When the first Insidious film debuted in 2010 from the then-young horror minds of James Wan and Leigh Whannell, it made enough worldwide box office to garner a sequel. Since then, the film has cranked out two more sequels and has now developed something of a cult following. The latest chapter will indeed have actor Patrick Wilson, of the Conjuring films, returning as the character of Josh Lambert, who makes the somewhat idyllic trip to drop his son off at his new ivy-league university, only to find out that the long-repressed demons are about to join him for orientation. Produced by the horror magnate Blumhouse Productions, the screenplay has input from director Oren Peli, creator of the infamous Paranormal Activity film. Circle that calendar for July 7, 2023.

August Horror Releases

The Last Voyage of Demeter

The Last Voyage of Demeter 2023

If Renfield and Salem’s Lot being released in 2023 alone aren’t enough to quench your vampiric thirst, The Last Voyage of Demeter will definitely put that stake in it for you. Directed by Norwegian horror-meister Andre Øverdal of Trollhunter and Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark, his latest film will center around the haunting Captain’s Log chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula. In it, a Russian merchant ship will be making a terrifying trip from the Carpathian Mountains (you know who lives there) to London, when many eerie and bloody happenings keep frightening the crew during the night. Set to star Suicide Squad 2’s David Dastmalchian, The Last Voyage of Demeter will set sail to round out the summer horror films.

September Horror Releases

Exorcist

Exorcist 2023

Halloween Kills writer and director David Gordon Green has made a direct horror sequel to the genuinely violent and terrifying 1973 William Friedkin classic, The Exorcist. Set fifty years after the events of the original exorcism in Georgetown, a deeply troubled father has come to discover his child has become demonically possessed by the wicked demon Pazuzu. In an act of pure last resort, he tracks down the elderly Chris Macneil in hopes that she can possibly help him battle back against the vengeful spirit. Original actress Ellen Burstyn is set to reprise her most famous role in what should serve as the final conclusion to this enduring horror film franchise.

October Horror Releases

Saw 10

Saw 10

You’re not seeing things here; a tenth entry in the notoriously bloody SAW film franchise will be hitting theaters on October 27, 2023. Lionsgate is playing its cards close to its vest and not revealing the cast to the long-rumored, already-in-the-can film. What’s known is that Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, as well as editor to the first five Saw films, will once again return to the helm as director, so fans of the series can rest assured that the newest installment is in very familiar and bloody hands. Studio Execs said of the film’s announcement, “We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love,” said Mark Burg and Oren Koules, producers of the franchise. Will there be a Jigsaw appearance? Will there be even more sinister traps? One thing we’ve been assured of…there will be blood.

The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman 2023

2023 is going to be rounding out the year with another horror heralded Stephen King story. The Boogeyman was not easily found in print as the short story was originally published to still going Cavalier Magazine, but it later got a printing under King’s famous Night Shift anthology. Playing on one of the most told bedtime terrors ever of a monster living in your childhood closet, the film is written and produced by Scott Beck, who is responsible for bringing another horror smash hit to audiences in the silent but deadly film, A Quiet Place. The Boogeyman will star Sophie Thatcher as the young girl who must battle a bloodthirsty and monstrous entity that will stop at nothing to devour human flesh. Being a Stephen King original story, you know this will be all-out horror at its absolute finest.

San Antonio, Texas, is a city with lots of bloodshed in its history. From the Battle at the Alamo to the infamous serial killers such as the “Railroad Killer” and “The Alligator Man”, the city has seen plenty of violence. Despite such troubles, the city is a wonderful destination for someone looking to take in all the charming beauty that Texas and its people have to offer. The Menger Hotel is one such upscale and elaborate place to stay when visiting the city. However, the Menger Hotel has been labeled as “The Most Haunted Hotel In Texas” by many paranormal groups.

Is the Menger Hotel Haunted?

Constructed in 1859 in the famous Alamo Plaza, the Menger is a three-story, picturesque love letter to Victorian-styled hotels. From the charming Spanish courtyard to the museum-level historic mementos displayed throughout the hotel, the Menger is an extraordinary and graciously decorated hotel. As majestic and busy as the hotel is, it is also very busy from the paranormal end. Just how busy? Over the years, paranormal enthusiasts estimate up to an astounding thirty-eight different spirits haunt the hotel.

The Ghosts of The Menger Hotel

Sallie White

With so many spirits claimed to be wandering the hotel’s property, the encounters and paranormal hallmarks are absolutely all over the place. Sallie White was the name of a former maid at the Menger who was murdered by her husband in 1876 on the property. Over the years, many guests have claimed to see the woman in period dress who floats through the hallways and sometimes walls! Other times, guests find that someone is furiously turning their hotel room doorknob from the outside, but upon opening the door discover an empty hallway and nobody there. Despite the action, most employees at the hotel brush off the behavior as her keeping up with her housekeeping duties by checking to see if rooms are occupied.

Frisky

Another ghost is affably named “Frisky”, a male spirit who takes particular supernatural glee in playing with a female guest’s hair. A top floor room has had dozens of sightings over the years of a younger man in period, nineteenth century soldier dress, who appears and then disappears in guest room chairs at all hours of the day.

The Girl and the Indian

The spirit of a Native American man has been recalled as seen near the bar area over many years as well as a dark-haired younger girl’s disembodied torso has appeared in photos. She was reported to have been viciously struck by a fast-moving horse carriage and died on the spot in front of the hotel. Her spirit is known to peek out from the corners of areas in the lobby as if to spy on visitors.

Despite the aforementioned paranormal activity, the hotel is regarded as one of the premier places to stay in San Antonio, if not the state of Texas in general. Many United States presidents, celebrities, and colorful dignitaries have enjoyed their stay at the Menger. Beautiful inside and out, the Menger is an experience that can literally be seen and most definitely believed.

Want to check out some other haunted hotels in Texas? Here you go!

Are prisons and jails really haunted? For most people, the aforementioned places are among the least likely that they would associate with ghostly hauntings and mysterious supernatural occurrences. These penitentiary systems are designed to formally correct and house convicted offenders, but instead many more paranormal investigators today are discovering that they all are actively haunted locations. Here’s a list of six sinister jails and prisons where they serve sentences…..afterlife sentences.

Alcatraz Prison

San Francisco Bay

Haunted Alcatraz Island

Built on a supremely small island in San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz Prison was designed to hold some of the worst federal prison offenders at the time of its opening in 1934. Surrounded by raging bay waters that sharks were partial to swimming, “The Rock” as it was known, housed such reputed gangsters as Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly. However, it wasn’t until the prison closed in 1963 that adventurers and tourists made their way to Alcatraz and discovered that it most certainly wasn’t abandoned….at least by the living.

If you are looking to get right to the action, Cell 14 of D-Block is perhaps the most haunted. This area was notoriously referred to as “The Hole”, containing small rooms with no light and minimal human contact. During its operation, a prisoner was said to have been screaming all night about a grey creature with red eyes that was staring at him, only to be found the next morning mysteriously strangled to death.

Groups, ghost tours, and historical outings to Alcatraz occur with regularity and in 2014 a pair of British tourists found something shocking. During a routine snapshot of a cell, they found on the photograph the ghost of a woman staring back at them. As if the creep-out factor wasn’t high enough, strange gusts of wind, banging noises, cold spots, and eerie banjo music said to be played by none other than Al Capone’s ghost are still heard today!

Pottawattamie County Jail

Council Bluffs, Iowa

Haunted Pottawattamie County Jail

Constructed in 1885, this three-story Victorian-styled county jail is the most unique in the Midwest, for among other things it contains rotating “squirrel’s cage” jail cells. However it is not so much the haunts inside these cages that are cause for paranormal concern, but those on the outside instead.

During its eighty-four-year operation, it served as the main jail for those awaiting trial and also those serving misdemeanant sentences. That’s why when the jail was decommissioned and closed, the first spirit paranormal group discovered was a little girl in a tan dress. Historically children weren’t inmates there, but the prevailing theory is that she was buried under the spot where the historic jail was built. She is best known to peek out behind jail cell corners and also tug at the shirttails of touring visitors.

Four inmates have been known to have died in the jail, and they’re not the only active spirits in the place. Inside the old guard quarters, the cabinets have been known to be thrust open and then mysteriously banged shut by an unseen force. Inmates on furlough from the cells? Or guards who still feel committed to watching the place in the afterlife? Regular tours are still held today, so grab your EMF reader and you make the call.

West Virginia Penitentiary

Moundsville, West Virginia

West Virginia Penitentiary

You just know that prison has to be haunted when it’s the oldest one to be found in a state. Built from 1863 to 1875 when West Virginia had just seceded from the state of Virginia, the West Virginia Penitentiary is one haunted place. During its fantastic one hundred and twenty-year run as a prison, it has racked up a chilling amount of haunted tales to keep people awake at night. Violence in the prison was so rampant it was labeled as one of “the ten most violent prisons in America” by the Federal Government. Just who is at the top of the paranormal list in this one?

An entity known as the “Shadow Man” is said to reign supernatural supreme there. Thought to be the spirit of former inmate R.D. Wall, this intimidatingly large and shadowy figure was convicted of the sexual assault of women. As it would turn out, female ghost hunters and tourists to the prison have reported a feeling of being watched as well as having an unseen hand grab them by the shoulder.

Further down near the infamous “Sugar Shack” area of cellblocks is that which formerly belong to an inmate named Red Snyder. Serving time for arson and murder, Snyder was savagely stabbed to death in his cell. Today ghost hunters have picked up an astonishing amount of profanity-laden EVPs believed to be from Snyder himself, who screams that people are invading his personal cell space and are to leave at once. The penitentiary does host a bevy of historical, photographic and of course paranormal tours here. In fact, it has recently been the site of Para-Con, one of the hottest upcoming paranormal conventions around.

Wyoming Territory Prison

Rawlins, Wyoming

The Wyoming Frontier Prison

Gold hit the Wyoming Territory hard in the late1800s, and with all the ruthless prospectors, daredevil gamblers, and cutthroat outlaws, a prison was most needed. Opened in 1901, it wasn’t long before the prison accepted the death penalty via hanging until 1916 when the gas chamber was officially put in.

Child murderer Andrew Pixley was on record as being the person who took the longest to die in the gas chamber, as he laughed for over two minutes until he was finally dead. It should come as no surprise that ghost hunting groups and visitors to the prison hear an eerie laugh coming from near the execution chamber! Even creepier is the fact that on the day of his death, a black cat was said to have somehow found its way near the execution. Fast forward to today, and people have reported seeing a black cat slink around in Pixley’s former cell. Informal seances involving a candle placed in Pixley’s cell have reportedly been blown out, only to mysteriously relight itself moments later.

Perhaps even more terrifying is the spirit of former inmate Frank Wigfall, who killed a beloved prison employee in the outside world. When arrested and convicted of his crime, once back at the prison he was viciously hung with a rope by inmates off an upper floor cellblock railing. There has been a couple of reports of the ghostly image of a man being pushed off and hung with a spectral rope in full view of the living. Over the decades, the prison took on many different names and stately owners before being closed in 1981.

A piece of Wyoming history, in 1988, a local joint power board for preservation helped to establish the site as a prison museum that remains in operations today, where tours are given with regularity. Being a highly rated, historically thrilling tour, it’s one of the more popular tourist experiences in the state and can almost guarantee that for some, they will be scared straight!

Ohio State Reformatory

Mansfield, Ohio

The Haunted Ohio State Reformatory

Over three stories tall, and designed with a German-influenced Romanesque castle-like appearance, the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio is an intimidating presence. Thought to have housed over 155,000 men in its one hundred and four-year operation, the prison has been unaffectionately known to locals as “Dracula’s Castle”. Surely with that many inmates, lots of them would be theorized to haunt the place, however, this is found to be incorrect. It is not an inmate that is the most active ghost here but in fact a former warden’s wife.

Former warden Arthur Glattke’s late wife Helen is reputed to be haunting places all around the prison as her spectral image shows up in the most unlikely of places. Accompanying her spirit is the scent of sweet roses, which were said to be a particular favorite of hers and ghost hunters usually encounter one sensory experience before the other surfaces. Former prison guard Frank Hanger is another non-inmate said to be haunting the reformatory. Brutally murdered by an inmate, Hanger is said to linger around tour groups and if someone is dawdling too long or forever taking their time going upstairs, Hanger’s ghost is said to give them a supernatural shove!

Today the Ohio State Reformatory has been taken over by a group that has cleaned up the prison and regularly runs and hosts paranormal tours and events on-site. And as with most people who visit, this was indeed the same prison used for the filming of the Academy Award Nominated film from Stephen King’s book, The Shawshank Redemption.

Missouri State Penitentiary

Jefferson City, Missouri

Missouri State Prison

You just know that prison has the potential for paranormal and supernatural activity when Time Magazine once referred to this prison as, “the bloodiest 47 acres in America!” Built way back in 1836, the Missouri State Penitentiary was no stranger to the death penalty. With the addition of a gas chamber, over forty inmates were put to death in it, including a pair of child murderers turned lovers named Bonnie Heady and Carl Austin. Decades later after their 1953 executions there, EVPs there are at an all-time high including such soundbites from beyond as, “stay”, “love”, and “kill”.

Prison deaths at Missouri State were exceptionally violent. One inmate named John McBroom had run afoul of some inmates he was sharing a cellblock with who believed him to be an informer for the prison guards. During breakfast call early one morning a pair of inmates charged into his cell, using a pair of broken scissors as a weapon. They stabbed him repeatedly in the eyes and skull and he ended up bleeding to death before he was ever found. Years later, visitors to the prison have reported seeing a pale white apparition of what appears to be a man, bleeding profusely out of his eye sockets, wandering around the cell walkways.

This formidable and chilling prison is still standing today. A collection of paranormal, historical, and photography tours of Missouri State are available in both public and private capacities for those looking to get a glimpse inside the infamous walls. These highly affordable and guided tours are some of the best that are offered for a haunted location such as this.

Every ending has a beginning

The season is upon us. Stranger Things season 4 Volume 1 has an official premiere date of May 27th, 2022. What’s this “Volume 1” you ask? Read on for more great Stranger Things updates.

Stranger Things Season 4 will be Separated Into Two Volumes

The Duffer brothers shared in a letter to all us nerds that Season 4 will be split into two volumes. “Volume One will release on May 27th; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1st.” They go on to say, “Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.” That’s right, a 5th Stranger Things season is coming and it will be the end of the series.

Volume One will release on May 27th; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1st.

It’s been nearly three years since season 3 was released on the 4th of July, 2019.  Season 3 left Hawkins in shambles after the Battle of Starcourt Mall. “The Party” is now separated from Eleven and the Byers family in California. This season is slated to be the biggest and most intense yet, spanning several locations outside of Hawkins and the Upside Down while setting Season 5 up for an epic conclusion.

How long will Stranger Things Season 4 be?

Netflix teased that Season 4 is to be “super-sized,” meaning the ST4 is “2 times as long as Season 3.” There were 8 episodes in Season 3. Considering Netflix already teased the titles for Season 4’s episodes, which came to 9 total; does that mean we’re getting 9 episodes in Volume 1 and another 7 for Volume 2? We’re just guessing (hoping) at this point, but the announcements are encouraging.

Season 4 Episodes Announced

So far, the episodes announced for Stranger Things Season 4 are “The Hellfire Club,” “Vecna’s Curse,” “The Monster and the Superhero,” “Dear Billy,” “The Nina Project,” “The Dive,” “The Massacre At Hawkins Lab,” “Papa” and “The Piggyback.” No word on how these episodes will be released and if they are the entirety of the season, or if they might be just the beginning.

New Characters in Stranger Things Season 4

ST Season 4 brings us new characters, including Nightmare on Elm Street’s infamous Robert Englund. The new season also features new additions of Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, Myles Truitt as Patrick, Regina Ting Chen as Ms. Kelly, Jamie Campbell Bower as Peter Ballard, and Grace Van Dien as Chrissy.

Stranger Things Season 4 Teaser

What comes next is going to be exciting. The Stranger Things universe is setting itself up for an exciting finish. It’s sad to hear there will be an end, but just as the title suggests, it’s only the beginning of the end.  We have a lot in front of us. Stay tuned, nerds!

March Horror Releases

Fear

Fear 2022

Little is known about this film from veteran slasher director Deon Taylor. Featuring a well-rounded cast to include T.I., Ruby Modine, Joseph Sekora, King Bach, and Terrence Jenkins, upfront we can say that the teaser trailer is one of the most alarmingly violent we’ve ever seen. When a very much-needed celebration vacation is in order, a group of friends soon finds that an airborne toxin brings about a bloody and murderous rage.

Unwelcome

Unwelcome

A high pressured couple looking to escape the turbulent London scene exchange trendiness for terror when they opt for a move to the tranquil Irish countryside. Starring Douglas Booth and Hannah John-Kamen as the ill-fated, expecting couple of Jamie and Maya, they soon discover that their quaint new home has previous tenants in the form of ferocious goblins. Director Jon Wright sets up the scares the right way in using one of horror’s most underrated creatures.

April Horror Releases

The Northman

The Northman

Veteran horror director Robert Eggers, who was the mad genius behind newfound horror classics in The Witch and The Lighthouse, digs deep in his historical horror playbook once again to bring what is sure to be another terrifying hit. Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Ethan Hawke, the film is centered around a fallen Viking king and the bloody path of revenge that his son takes up in avenging his murder.

May Horror Releases

65

Produced under the watchful eye of Evil Dead creator and all-around horror mastermind Sam Raimi, 65 is set to embrace the little utilized horror subgenera of failed science fiction space disasters. In what perhaps might be the tightest kept plot of all time, very little about this film has been publicized at all because the details are said to be so mind-blowing that any teaser could ruin the film. The only plot details we were able to dig up on this is that an astronaut crash lands on a very mysterious planet and he soon discovers that he’s not quite alone. Adam Driver and Arianna Greenblatt are set to star.

June Horror Releases

The Black Phone

The Black Phone 2022

Perhaps one of the most terrifying trailers to have debuted in recent horror, the insider buzz on The Black Phone is all that and more! When young Finney Shaw is kidnapped by a serial killer and thrust into a basement, he soon discovers the broken down phone locked away with him can receive calls of the undead persuasion. Filmed off a short story of the same name by Joe Hill (son of epic horror writer Stephen King), it’s directed by the mastermind team behind the sinister……Sinister (and Dr. Strange) film franchise team of Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill.

July Horror Releases

Nope

Nope 2022

Academy Award winner and newfound horror genre hero Jordan Peele is setting to bring about another terrifyingly new take and likely twist on his favorite genre. Set to star Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, this film is set to have a much bigger budget than previous Peele films to the point that a quarter of the film’s scenes were captures using IMAX cameras. As far as plot goes….there is absolutely, positively nothing to be found anywhere online or print that can shed some light on what the film is about. The only thing to go off is a poster recently released, featuring a sinister looking cloud amidst a storm straddled over a mountain town. Sequel to Get Out? Alternate universe plot to Us? Aliens? Monsters? Bad weather? Nope already has a hard date of July 22.

August Horror Releases

Beast

Beast

The animals-hunting-humans horror subgenera is about to get a lot more bloody interesting in 2022. Popular British actor Idris Elba stars in the soon-to-be horror hunting movie Beast. Elba plays the main role of a father looking to gain more time with his two daughters on an African safari. When the outing goes awry, he and his daughters soon find themselves face to face with a ferocious lion, hellbent on devouring anything it can get its flesh-shredding paws on. Featuring one of the most true-to-life horror film taglines we’ve ever heard…….sometimes the rustle in the bushes, actually is a monster!

September Horror Releases

Salem’s Lot

Salem's Lot 2022

Horror mastermind behind the entire Conjuring franchise, James Wan helps director Gary Dauberman (writing genius behind IT and Conjuring franchise films) step behind the camera in a producer-heavy role to bring bloody life a much-needed update on the Stephen King vampire classic, Salem’s Lot. When a novelist returns to his childhood hometown in Maine, he soon discovers that an antique dealer may be acting as the front to a thousand-year-old vampire who lurks about the town in search of fresh victims. Featuring one of the most terrifying bedroom window vampire visits of all time, we can’t wait to see what scares Wan’s new film will “conjure” up.

Don’t Worry Darling

Don’t Worry Darling

Newfound director and actress Olivia Wilde steps behind the lens to bring a fresh take on housewife horror. Set during the 1950s and starring Florence Pugh (of Midsommar fame) Don’t Worry Darling tells the story of a young housewife who unwittingly discovers that her loving husband is harboring a dark secret that is set to change their idyllic lifestyle forever. Almost entirely female driven, Wilde recently spoke on the film’s content which sounds like a total physical and stylistic overload of as much sex, violence, and horror that can be possibly be crammed in a motion picture. Sign us up, please!

October Horror Releases

Halloween Ends

How will it all end for Haddonfield’s longtime slasher, Michael Myers? Trilogy director David Gordon Green is back once again to finish up what has undoubtedly become a hotly debated horror film franchise as of late. Building off the tragic events of Halloween Kills, Green has been tightlipped on what all is scheduled to go down in the franchise’s swan song. He recently was hesitant to reveal that the film will be set years after Kills takes place and that this will be “a coming of age story” in the Halloween franchise. Jamie Lee Curtis will once again return as the near-tragic franchise character of Laurie Strode, as well actress Andi Matichak as her fateful granddaughter Allyson.

Hocus Pocus 2

Hocus Pocus 2

Disney scored big in 1993 with a little known Halloween themed film based on the Salem exploits of the witchy Sanderson Sisters. Now twenty nine years later, there’s no time like the present for a film franchise updating. Starring the original trio of Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Hocus Pocus 2 is set to revolve around a new group of teenagers who will take to the streets to keep the witches from taking over the historic New England town of Salem. Streaming rights will no doubt be used on this kid friendly horror property through the Disney Plus streaming app.

#1 Pick Yourself a Badass Halloween Costume

Devil Walking Halloween Costumes for Adults

Halloween Costumes above are from DevilWalking.com

First and foremost, make sure you dress up with the most stunning Halloween-themed costume for adults. Instead of relying on DIY options, go straight mental with a printed one-piece, made to make everyone’s jaws drop!

Be a futuristic interstellar warrior, be a siren from the ocean depths, be a ghost hunter, or be a Jack-o’-lantern spooky pumpkin. It’s all fine as long as it’s far from basic! Then, gather your family and friends, and encourage them to do the same. Picking the best costumes is fundamental to having the best time!

#2 Do your Halloween Makeup, Hairstyle, and Accessorizing

Devil Walking Halloween Costumes for Adults
Now, spend some time decorating yourself as a real piece of Halloween art. Bake your look with realistic Halloween-themed makeup, a colorful wig, and a selection of cruel accessories specially picked for your costume.

For a hardcore party-starter look, you can add details such as contact lenses, fake blood, face stickers, and pumpkin jewelry. Then let the game begin!

#3 Go Trick or Treating

Gather your group of trick or treaters, then roam the neighborhood, collecting candy corn, pumpkin muffins, and jelly beans. Don’t forget to grab some cocktails on the go and treat yourselves before the tricks – the kids will never know.

The night is long and full of terrors, and a bag of pumpkin sweets is just the beginning!

#4 Visit a Haunted House

Now that the candies have been gathered, it’s time for the real fun to kick in. One of the best activities to give yourself as an adult for Halloween is, of course, to go to a haunted house near you. So gather the clique, put your ghost costumes on, and fall straight into the deep – where worlds collide, and legends are born.

All you need to do is organize a group of friends and choose the destination. It can be either a haunted attraction, corn maze, or hayride, or even a real haunted place everyone has a campfire story about. Then watch out – if you don’t see Halloween candy, the Halloween candy might be you.

#5 Throw a Wild Halloween Party With Costumes

Are you looking to get creepily festive? You will need the right place, the perfect atmosphere, and a group of adults who still know how to have fun. How to do it?

  • Decorate the place – carve pumpkins, buy horror candy toys, stuff the room with DIY skeletons and fake blood, light candles, and keep the Halloween spirit sweet and spooky!
  • Make sure you buy some Halloween food for the party-goers to eat – candy is mandatory, and everything else is a bonus!
  • Assemble a memorable Halloween season playlist – holiday songs, popular emo, and goth bands, and 2021 ideas everyone will recognize.
  • Fix a dress code and let no ordinary man in – your spooky night needs a costume game, and you will be the one making it happen!
  • Pass the word and make the links – make sure every person you have in mind receives your invitation by the middle of October.

Devil Walking Halloween Costumes for Adults
Now that your Halloween party is on the way, once again, make sure you’ll plan the ultimate costume win – scary, sexy, polished, and memorable!

#6 Organize a Halloween Movie Night

If throwing a wild party doesn’t seem like your thing for 2021, you can celebrate the Halloween season with a bag of popcorn and a playlist of the scariest Halloween movies in the history of cinema. Watching all-time ghost classics and newly-released corn maze blockbusters is fine too, as long as everyone has fun.

A scary movie night is among the best ideas for a comfy, homey, and chilling activity, perfect for the whole adult family. So just make your movie research, light the pumpkins, hit play, and watch out!

#7 The Stories, The Games, and All

There are multiple activities you can add to your Halloween party list, no matter if it’s a rave dance party or an intimate campfire stories night. Need some ideas for things to do during an adult Halloween party?

    • Tell each other ghost stories;
    • Do a scavenger hunt;
    • Make a Halloween costume competition;
    • Head to the nearest corn maze;
    • Watch adult realities with ghosts and serial killers;
    • Carve pumpkins, bake candies, and drink cocktails;
    • Go on a large-scale outdoor party with other trick or treaters;
    • Make a holiday capsule to open during the next Halloween;
    • Throw a Halloween pajama party and have the introvert type of fun!

So… Trick or treat?

Let the Fun Things Happen!

Halloween is indeed about the costumes, the organized activities, and the spirits of the fall. But – most of all – Halloween is about the mood! Now that you’re packed with ideas, keep your mood just as fresh as your party plans – then no creepy pumpkin can stop you from having the time of your life!

Halloween holidays are here, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a child, a woman, a man, or a jelly bean. Everyone’s invited to the night carving party, and that’s how we go – packed with ideas, stories, inspirations, and mood!

Keep it fun, keep it safe, and make the best Halloween memories to keep you warm through the winter!

Gearing up for that big summer vacation? Serene mountain retreat all planned out? Perhaps some much-needed luxury spa time at a swanky resort? Or maybe the classic weekend trip to some scenic wine country? Do you want to go to the beach? Before you buy that swimsuit, grab a surfboard or stock up on suntan lotion, longstanding horror director M. Night Shyamalan knows precisely of one secluded beach you’ll want to totally avoid at all deadly costs.

M. Night Shyamalan’s Old: Plot and Trailer

Old is the tentpole summer horror film release that movie fans have been waiting on all year. Both screenplay and directed by Shyamalan himself, this psychological horror film has one of the more disturbing plots in recent horror history. A vacationing family to a seemingly tropical paradise find their dreamy getaway turning into a real-life nightmare as whoever visits the beach becomes trapped and begins to mysteriously age. We’re not talking seconds older here either….we’re talking aging years.

Not only that, but from the looks of the terrifying trailer that just dropped, people are aging at an alarmingly fast rate. As detailed in the trailer, this doesn’t bode well for the little children in the film who appear to chillingly age from seven to seventeen in mere minutes. Even worse, this terrifying aging process becomes a likely endgame of life for the parents. The most gruesome? Not only do bodies age and grow faster to die, but they also decompose just as quickly! While Shyamalan wrote the screenplay, this bloody concept of his was taken from a very original graphic novel titled Sandcastle by author Pierre Oscar Levy.

Old: Cast and Release Date

Just who will be aging and what will be left of them? Shyamalan has one of his most well-rounded and diverse horror casts yet. Golden Globe winner Gael Garcia Bernal stars in the film, alongside one of Europe’s most talented actresses, Vicky Krieps. Rounding out the cast is former Army of Darkness co-star Embeth Davidtz, and ill-fated SAW franchise actor Ken Leung.

cast-of-M. Night-Shyamalan's-old

Gael Garcia Bernal, Vicky Krieps. Embeth Davidtz, and Ken Leung

True to Shyamalan’s well-known preference for secrecy, the film’s latest trailer still does little to solve the many fan questions of the greater mystery surrounding this paradise from Hell. Is the beach haunted? The ocean tide contaminated? Perhaps maybe the whole picturesque coastline is cursed by evil? Whichever haunted horror hellscape Shyamalan is taking fans down, it’s sure to be a frightening one.

Old terrorizes horror fans everywhere on July 23, 2021.
