They say it’s haunted because a woman was murdered in one of the rooms by her boyfriend or husband. Now she haunts the place. Not sure if it’s true. It’s just what I’ve grown up hearing.
I’ve stayed there twice now and have always been sensitive to energies good and bad. I also take interest in the super natural and spiritual realm so Im definitely not closed minded. What I can tell you from both first hand accounts, talking to hotel staff and even looking at photos taken that contained something unexplainable in them. First, the story. Well this is a 250 year old wealthy persons estate barn that was built way back. In those days settlers would stop here while making their way west because it was the first good water site in 100s of miles. So imagine the famine , sickness and dehydration that these travelers would arrive like if they survived the trek. Either way, this place to some capacity has always been a destination to stop at for travelers and at some point was acquired by a horse vet to take care of injured horses making the trek out west. It was during this time that there might have been a little girl who either fell from the top (3rd story) of the barn or was deliberately pushed to her death. From what I saw in all the photos, the best possibility of a spirit present in thr hotel would be from that little girl. I saw a little 4 to 5 ywar old girl in a night dress standing next to the people in the photo. None of the hotel staff have any major fears or even things that happen to them leaving me to believe that if there is a spirit haunting the place it is just a peaceful little girl that hasn’t moved on, but means no harm. When touring the back banquet rooms at 3am the very fall back wall near the end hallway mirror is thr only area I felt a tightened sense of energy, but once again it was weak and didn’t seem evil or feel heavy. My guess is that is where the little girl frequent most that back hallway. Now therd are 2 opposing mirrors at this hallway wilhich adds to the mystery of does the owners know about something and are attempting thr mirror trick to keep them trapped. Who knows. Now the murder suicide deal. That was 100% legit and was more of a modern crime based around struggles with mental illness instead of evil or super natural type events. So is it haunted maybe, but if you are wanting to get scared this is not the place. Really cool old construction methods and large timber framed barn for those who care about old building techniques. Still boggles me how they raised 5′ tall by 18″ thick by 100′ long beams to act as the roof support in the main structure. Cant find wood like that anymore.
