The Sorrento Hotel in Seattle, WA has been accepting guests since 1909. In the early days of the hotel’s existence, there weren’t any signs of apparitions or appearances. That changed when Alice B. Toklas died. She’s been seen haunting the halls of the Sorrento. Her family lived in the First Hill neighborhood in the late 1890s, which is where the Sorrento now stands. It’s thought that’s why she haunts the location. Numerous people have seen a ghostly figure walking the halls in a flowing white gown. She’s especially visible on the fourth floor around room 408. Unfortunately, this site has been closed for some time. The woman who used to run it, Sharon Gammell, a psychic, died a few years ago and she had put the building up for sale before she passed. My husband and I stayed there back in May, 2009. I believe it was haunted. We were the only guests there. The door to our room slammed shut by itself–hard!–twice with no open windows and no one near by it. That was enough for me! It’s sad that it’s no longer open. Ms. Gammell had renovated it and it was beautiful, besides being spooky.
This place has reopened with a restaurant and in 2 weeks hotel will also have rooms for rent again!
