I died there and I’m a ghost
Finally! We have 100% proof!
My husband and I stayed there in October 2009. We were there for the keeneland race meet. We were given a room on the 2nd floor in the very back. We noticed no one else was staying on our long hall. the last night we were there, at 3:30 in the morning, we were awakened by doors slamming in the hall, over and over. We wondered how it could be, since there were no guests on our hall. This went on for 20+ minutes. Finally, I got up and looked out in the hallway. Nothing. No one. Next morning, we are breakfast in the hotel restaurant. I mentioned to the waitress about what happened. She looked at me and said the hairs were standing up on the back of her neck. She proceeded to tell me about her experience there. One morning very early, she came in to start coffee and set up for breakfast. They were not open yet. She noticed a man walking through the restaurant, dressed in turn of the century clothes. He didn’t seem to see her. He kept walking. She decided to follow him but then suddenly he wasn’t there. She went to the front desk to see if the clerk had seen him go by, but he hadn’t. He vanished… Come to find out after we got home, the place is haunted. 2 murders there long ago. This is the one place I have been in my life that I genuinely felt was haunted. I will go back some day, though.
My husband and I were at the Campbell House for the October race meet at keeneland race course. We stayed at the there for 3 nights. They put us on the very back wing on the 2nd floor. It’s a huge hotel. We noticed that there were no guests on our hall. It was a long hallway. On the 3rd night we were there, we were awakened at 3:30 in the morning by the sound of loud doors slamming out in the hall, over and over. This went on for 20+ minutes. Finally, I got up and looked out in the hall. Nothing. No one. A few minutes later, I heard something or someone getting ice from the ice machine on our hall. I jumped up, looked out in the hall again. No one was there. We never went back to sleep. At 7:30, we went down to breakfast at the hotel restaurant. I was telling the waitress about what had happened. She said it made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. And she said she had heard other guests speak of the slamming door thing. Then she told us about her experience. One morning, she came in early to set up for breakfast. She was making the coffee in the dining room. Suddenly, she saw a man walking through the dining room, dressed in turn of the century clothes. He didn’t seem to see her. He just kept walking. She thought it strange, so she went to see where he went. She didn’t see him. She walked to the front desk and the clerk said he didn’t see anything.
When we got home, I googled the place and lots of haunted stories. Apparently, there were 2 women murdered there at 2 different times, long ago. I read that ghost hunters had been there to investigate. Before we went there, I had no idea about any of this. That’s the first and only time I felt I was in a haunted place.
Thanks. Suzanne from North Carolina.
