Captain Tibbals built the hotel as a tavern and billiard parlor in 1889. People have reported seeing the captain haunting the halls today. There’s also a woman in a blue dress who is often seen at the top of the stairs to the second floor. She spends a lot of time haunting room four, which seems to be her favorite. Guests have felt a cold draft in that room as well as the scent of perfume. More than one guest has reported being touched by an unseen hand. Read more…

Until 1998, this hotel was like any other. Around Halloween night that year, it’s said that a businessman killed himself on the 15th floor. Some people think that the Halloween party that year woke some spirits from their sleep. Ever since that year, there’s been shadowy sightings of spirits on the 15th floor of the hotel. There have also been unexplained noises on that floor. Nobody has confirmed who or what is haunting one of the top floors of this hotel. Read more…

The hotel was built in 1886 by John McMillin and has had many guests including some famous ones like Theodore Roosevelt. It’s a woman apparition who is seen wandering the halls of the hotel. A nearby location is said to be equally creepy. The McMillin family has a mausoleum where there is a dining room set up for the entire family. At each location is a column where the family members ashes reside. It’s said that a family of apparitions sits there at sundown. Read more…

Curbed Seattle named Hotel Andra one of Seattle’s most haunted hotels. The hotel was built in 1926. It was the time of prohibition and loud parties. Today, guests as well as staff have reported hearing jazz and the sound of breaking glass from the 9th floor of the hotel. Whenever someone tries to investigate, the noise and music stops. Guests have seen apparitions in their rooms. In one room a paperweight levitates before hitting a glass table with a loud noise. People believe that it’s done by a hotel worker who fell from one of the hotel’s top floors. Read more…

Located in the foggy woods of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Northern State Hospital was once the largest mental institution in the state, besides the Old Western State Hospital.  The hospital opened in 1909 and was designed by the renowned Olmsted Brothers, the same architects who brought us New York’s Central Park. It was built to be a self-contained colony, with 700 acres of farmland, a dairy plant, a lumber mill, and even a bakery. Old Haunted Western State Hospital Old Western State Mental Hospital is one of the eeriest places in all of Washington State. It was originally Fort Steilacoom Asylum in 1871, but the building dates back to 1849 when it was part of the Fort Steilacoom Army post. The history of the hospital tells stories of frontal lobotomies, mental wards that were secretly open for prostitution by the orderlies and brutal attacks on patients. The grounds are creepy indeed and many paranormal groups will ghost hunt at night after the park closes. Be careful and watch your step. Read more…

This bed and breakfast is considered one of the most haunted locations in Washington. It’s been featured in a documentary called Montgomery House: The Perfect Haunting. For years, the bed and breakfast was haunted by solid apparitions as well as voices. The house was built on a location that used to house an entire Native American tribe that died when the settlers came to America. The Haunted Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Wa In 1920, a young woman named Ellen McNamara fell through a skylight and plunged to her death. She’s often seen peering over the railing towards the mezzanine below. There are other ghostly happenings that can’t be pinned to one ghost. A hotel worker reported that he saw a heavy, glass-and-metal terrace door fly open on a night that wasn’t windy. He didn’t return to that area for a week. Built in 1901 by Isadore St. Martin, the Carson Hot Springs Resort has many ghosts said to be walking within its walls. Isadore was killed on the grounds in 1910. He was arguing with a man on the grounds and was accidentally stabbed in the chest. St. Martin’s wife died shortly after him. Her ghost is the most active, visible ghost on the grounds. She’s been seen in the lobby as well as the hallways on the second floor. Guests have often heard steps on the third floor, which is closed off to guests and staff. Read more…

The lodge has been around since it was built in the 1926. At some unreported time in the past, there was a fire in the main lodge and a worker couldn’t escape from the fire. She died. It’s her ghost who is thought to haunt the lodge now. One guest reported to the store owner across the street that she was leaving the lodge because of an experience she had. After unpacking her bags, she found a woman standing behind her. The woman explained that her name was Beverly, and she worked in the hotel. Read more…
