Haunted Captain Faifield Inn in Kennebunkport, Maine Overlooking the banks of the Green River in Kennebunkport is the Captain Fairfield Inn. Captain James Fairfield and his wife lived in the house for five years until James died of pneumonia. The mansion was a private home until 1991. When renovations started, an apparition identified as Captain Fairfield was seen floating in an area of the basement. I was violently woken up by my husband who was shaking me awake because I was screaming in my sleep one night staying at this hotel. It freaked us both out so much! I was so sick to my stomach after the incident I demanded him to take me to the hospital if I started vomiting. (I never threw up) I slept with lights on for weeks after the incident. My husband didn’t mind this because he said the screaming coming from my mouth that night wasn’t my voice and it was it was so shrill and piercing.
