Every year, horror film fans cannot wait to see what is in store for them when it comes to new movies. With 2024 slowly coming to an end, horror fans are anticipating some terrifying new movies. Here is a list of what to expect from horror movies in the upcoming year.

28 Years Later

When it comes to zombie and post-apocalyptic movies, the 28 Days Later franchise has been a huge success. These movies are directed by Danny Boyle, of Trainspotting fame, and co-written by Alex Garland. 28 Years Later is the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. This movie is scheduled to be released in June of 2025.

The last time we saw one of these movies was back in 2007 and fans are excited to see what this one is all about. Cillian Murphy is back and stars with Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, Edvin Ryding, and Erin Kellyman. In this movie, the Rage Virus has returned and there are more survivors who are trying to create a better world, as well as hide from zombies. Will they make it or fall victim to the virus? We will have to wait and see.

A Quiet Place III

A Quiet Place III

Another movie franchise that has found popularity is A Quiet Place. This is yet another installment and follows up on the 2020 movie, A Quiet Place II. Another Post-apocalyptic film starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, this movie will follow up from where the last one left off.

These movies are about a family who lives in Millbrook, New York. They have a deaf daughter and this is one of the main things that the films focus on. The entire family does know sign language and that is important throughout the films. In these films, a meteor-type object gets thrown toward Earth and afterward, some alien creatures begin a murderous rampage. The creatures kill people left and right, but the family realizes that they cannot see and are only attracted to sound. Luckily, they all know sign language and are able to stay safely away from them. What will the sequel hold for this franchise? We will have to wait until 2025 to find out.

Bambi: The Reckoning

For fans of independent, British slasher movies, Bambi: The Reckoning is highly anticipated. It is directed by Dan Allen and written by Rhys Warrington. It is actually the fourth installment of the Bambi series. This film stars Nicola Wright, Roxanne McKee, Alex Cooke, Catherine Adams, and Samira Mighty.

Bambi: The Reckoning is about a mother and son who are in a car accident. They are being hunted by Bambi, who is a deer that has been mutated and is upset that his mother was killed. He is on a deadly rampage to kill anyone he thinks may have had a hand in killing his mother. This movie is slated to be released in the earlier part of 2025 and we cannot wait to see it.

The Black Phone 2

The Black Phone 2

The Black Phone 2 is the sequel to the Black Phone, starring Ethan Hawke. Hawke is expected to reprise his role, along with several other stars of the first film, such as Mason Thames, Jeremy Davies, and Madeleine McGraw.

The movie is about a Denver, Colorado serial murderer and child abductor called “The Grabber.” One of the main storylines revolved around Finney Blake and his sister, Gwen. They live with their father, who is abusive alcoholic. Finney also gets bullied at school but has a close friend who helps him with the bullies.

Gwen has inherited her mother’s abilities to predict the future in her dreams and she begins to dream about the Grabber and his abducting of children in their neighborhood. Of course, the police think that Gwen may know more than she is letting on, so they interview her about what she has seen. When her father finds out about the interview, he gets angry and beats her. Soon the Grabber comes to abduct Robin, Finney’s friend, and Finney himself. This is when things begin to get scarier for Gwen and her father.

The black phone is in the basement when Finney wakes up after being taken by the Grabber. He can only hear static the first few times that he picks it up, but then begins to hear a voice that is telling him how to escape the Grabber. What will the sequel look like? We will have to find out in 2025.

The Bride!

The Bride! is a science fiction monster film, written by Maggie Gyllenhaal and stars Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Penelope Cruz, and Annette Bening. This movie was inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein and will follow a very similar storyline to the original. Horror fans can’t wait to see what this movie brings to the horror table. It is to be released in September of 2025.

Companion

Companion is slated to be released in January of 2025 and is a psychological thriller written and directed by Drew Hancock. It stars Sophie Thacker and Jack Quaid. This movie has been described as the perfect anti-love story.

This movie is about a website that has been developed for singles to find their perfect companion. The movie follows a single woman who just started using the site and how she just wants to meet the perfect man for her. The man that she meets has quite a dark side and she will soon learn that his motives are not what she expected.

Wolf Man

Wolf Man is another horror film that is scheduled to be released in January of 2025. This is a reboot of the classic horror movie, The Wolfman. Christopher Abbott is the lead in the film and it also features Julia Garner and Matilda Firth. The movie is about a family who is on their way to get away in a cabin in the woods. They are in a terrible car accident and shortly after it happens, the man begins to go through some changes. He begins to turn into a wolf man. Soon, his entire family will see what type of danger they are in.

If you are a fan of the classics, like The Wolfman, you will hopefully find this movie enjoyable. So far, it has been called one of the best reboots, but you will have to see what you think.

Presence

Coming to theaters in January of 2025 is Presence. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, this movie stars Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, and Chris Sullivan. This movie is a thriller that shows a ghost’s point of view after they have died. The story is extremely unsettling and this movie is getting a lot of hype.

In Presence, a family moves into a new home and they are unaware that it is haunted. It seems like their dream home until they start to suspect that there is someone else in the home with them. The movie will follow the family as they begin to feel the presence here. This movie has already gotten a lot of hype and horror fans are excited to see it.

  • Jack’s Revenge: Beneath the Woods of Terror, an evil force is growing, twisting and corrupting the soil as the Pumpkin King returns to place souls into pumpkins and feed misbehaved children to himself, while his cult seeks revenge on those who don’t believe in the spirit of Halloween, in a 50’s style attraction filled with thrills, chills, and large-scale creatures.
  • Hardwired: A deranged government A.I. programmer has unleashed an intelligent A.I. that views humans as a virus and uses their organic tissue to enhance itself—can you escape its clutches or become another part of the machine?
  • 3D Euphoria: Bone Daddy has gathered the most twisted clowns from across the Americas under one roof, where they’ll do anything for a laugh or a scream, and with 3D glasses, you’ll navigate a pandemonium reminiscent of old fun houses, where nothing is as it seems and the clowns don’t always make you smile.
  • Eleven’s Nightmare: Inspired by the cult hit Stranger Things, journey into Eleven’s hallucinations and navigate the Creel family’s house, now engulfed by the Upside Down, where you must fight through haunting visions and face her nemesis to escape this nightmare with your sanity intact—can you survive as Eleven, or will you succumb to Vecna?
  • The Mortuary: Welcome to the procession; please be seated as the funeral commences immediately—rest assured, we provide all your funeral needs from an in-house crematorium to an embalming station, and if you wish to linger, feel free to stroll through our crypt, where there’s always room for one more.

  • Pirates Cove: Anyone who enters is doomed, as the pirates have arrived with a curse – ‘The Plague!’ Cursed by the voodoo queen Calypso, these scurvy pirates are fated to roam the port city, infecting everyone they meet. The only escape from their clutches is through their ship, but one wrong move will have you walking the plank to a watery grave.
  • Miners Massacre: The days are long, but the nights stretch even longer, especially under a full moon. Legends speak of a gold-rich mine, but with its riches comes a hairy curse. Those who attempt to harvest the gold transform into beasts, be it Werewolves or Skinwalkers. Deep within these caverns, there is no escape. Can you find your way out, or will you end up howling at the moon with a craving for human flesh?
  • Texas House: Venture too far into the woods, and you might stumble upon the Texas house, a sinister abode on the edge of nowhere, home to one of the most twisted cannibal families in American history. Inspired by films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and American Gothic, this attraction will get your blood pumping with chainsaw-wielding killers and man-eating cannibals. Even Ed Gein would find this nightmare-inducing.
  • Sensory Overload: Have you ever been pushed to the brink of insanity, your senses tested beyond their limits? The doctor has a special experiment in mind for you. Can your mind withstand the onslaught of Sensory Overload, or will you become just another patient at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital?
  • Brookhaven Memorial Hospital: Once a prestigious institution for mental studies, renowned for its cutting-edge lobotomies, shock therapy, and psychotropics, Brookhaven has now become a shadow of its former self, infamous for heinous atrocities. This asylum of the criminally insane has truly descended into madness, where the inmates run the madhouse and the doctors are the patients.
  • Necropolis: All New For 2024!

Mears begins to write about the Marsten House. This mansion seems to be cursed and Mears wants to find out more about it. The house has two occupants, Kurt Barlow and Richard Straker, a vampire and his “familiar”, who looks to be the cause of sudden disappearances, deaths, and other strange happenings all around the town. Ben decides to help defeat these two evil beings by teaming up with Mark Petrie.

It’s that special day again! And you know what? You…

It's Friday the 13th. Gotta Get Down on Friday!

Things you shouldn’t do today unless you’re a baddie

  1. Don’t let a black cat cross your path. It’s just bad luck, man…
  2. Don’t go camping. If you do, be polite and leave a goodbye letter.
  3. Don’t take a row boat into the middle of a lake.
  4. Don’t be a camp counselor. Quit, or at least take the day off. Just don’t go to work.
  5. Don’t split up. Unless you’re with the hot cheerleader. She’s definitely next.
  6. Don’t say, “It’s OK, I’m just gonna take a look around.”
  7. Don’t have sex. You’re definitely gonna be punished.
  8. Don’t get high, unless it’s your first time and you’re trying to fit in. You might get a mulligan.
  9. Don’t run. On Friday the 13th, walking is much faster than running. It’s simple physics.
  10. Don’t talk smack to anyone wearing a mask.
  11. Don’t be a jock. Or a jerk. Or a jock’s, or jerk’s, girlfriend.
  12. Don’t go looking to find that noise in the woods. Just leave.
  13. Don’t go to sleep. Or wait. Is that Nightmare on Elm Street?

You might be OK playing a little Bloody Mary or trying a few sleepover games like Light as a Feather. Those superstitions usually give way to the GOAT.

When is the next Friday the 13th?

The Ammons’ Demon House is brought back to life by Lee Daniels’ The Deliverance on Netflix. The Ammons House haunting was documented in over 800 pages of official records from authorities in what may be one of the most well-known hauntings since the Conjuring house or Amityville Horror hauntings. In The Deliverance, we begin to understand what the Ammons family endured as Academy Award Nominees Andra Day, Aunjanue Ellis-Tayler, Glenn Close, and Academy Award Winner Mo’Nique bring the story to life.

Known as the Demon House, or the 200 Demons House, the Gary, Indiana haunting made news in 2012 when Latoya Ammons reported strange occurrences and disturbances in her home. The Deliverance is based on the story of the Ammons house but follows its own chilling storyline. Learn more about the Ammons haunting here.

The Deliverance is available now on Netflix, having been released on August 30th, 2024.

There are several different Haunted Mansion rides at Disney theme parks worldwide. Walt Disney added the first Haunted Mansion ride to the park at Disneyland in California. Then, the Haunted Mansion ride in Orlando, Florida, was built. Today, there are five versions of this ride, and everyone is completely different. We would like to share all of the differences between the Haunted Mansions in the world of Disney.

The Locations of Disney’s Haunted Mansion

Disneyland in California

Disneyland's Haunted Mansion-haunted-mansion

Disneyland is located in California, and the Haunted Manion ride there is based on a southern plantation. It is the original design for all haunted mansion rides and has become one of the most popular. Even though the ride looks very similar to the Magic Kingdom’s ride, there are distinct differences.

Magic Kingdom in Florida

The Haunted Mansion: The Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansion opened in 1971 and is located in Orlando, Florida. This ride is based on Dutch Gothic and Hudson River-style architecture. It has many unique features that none of the other rides have.

Tokyo Disneyland

The Haunted Mansion: Tokyo Disneyland

The Haunted Mansion, which opened in 1983 at Tokyo Disneyland, is located in the park’s Fantasyland area and resembles the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom.

Disneyland Paris

Phantom Manor: Disneyland Paris

Phantom Manor is the French version of the Haunted Manion at Disneyland Paris. It was built in 1992 and is located in Frontierland. Most visitors consider it the scariest mansion in the theme parks. The Fourth Ward School in Virginia City, Nevada, inspired this ride.

Hong Kong Disneyland

Mystic Manor: Hong Kong Disneyland

The final Haunted Mansion ride is located at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is called Mystic Manor, and its focus is more on magic and mystery than death. Due to what Chinese culture believes about ghosts, there are no ghosts here. At Mystic Manor, objects come to life and float around the room.

These are the five locations of the Haunted Mansion at Disney theme parks, but what is so different about them? Let’s find out more.

Differences Between The Haunted Manion Rides

Disneyland Vs Magic Kingdom

When the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom Haunted Mansions were built, park visitors felt they were very similar, but there are a few differences between these theme park rides. The main differences are the styles of the rides themselves. In Disneyland, visitors enter on the first floor, while in the Magic Kingdom, visitors enter the basement.

Disney's Haunted Mansion Elevator

The elevator in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion

The elevator in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion is a stretching room and takes visitors down a floor. The stretching room in the Magic Kingdom doesn’t move at all. The portraits in these rooms are all very different in each location. Disneyland has a portrait hall, whereas Disneyworld has portraits throughout the ride, not just in one room.

The Disneyland Haunted Mansion features the same ghosts as the Magic Kingdom ride, but one ghost doesn’t appear in the Magic Kingdom. It is the Hat Box Ghost, which is only seen in the Disneyland ride. These two rides aren’t the only ones that have differences, though. There are three other Haunted Mansion rides all over the world.

Tokyo Disneyland Vs Disneyland and Magic Kingdom

Tokyo Disneyland Haunted Mansion

Tokyo Disneyland Haunted Mansion

Tokyo Disneyland has another version of the Haunted Mansion ride. It resembles both the Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom rides, but there are many major differences. One of the main differences is that it lacks many animatronic spiders and other creepy ghosts. However, this ride has plenty of horrifying features.

Disneyland Paris is the scariest?

Disneyland Paris Haunted Mansion

Disneyland Paris’ Haunted Mansion Ride

At Disneyland Paris, the Haunted Mansion ride is Phantom Manor and is considered the Disney franchise’s scariest ride. The ride focuses on a bride who is haunting the mansion because her groom never made it to the altar to her. It is much darker than any of the other Haunted Mansion rides. There are animatronics and creepy ghosts, but this one terrifies visitors for some reason.

Hong Kong Disneyland Vs Ghosts?

Hong Kong Disneyland Haunted Mansion

Hong Kong Disneyland. Mystic Manor

The last Haunted Mansion ride is located in Hong Kong Disneyland. It is called Mystic Manor and is incredibly different from the others. This ride doesn’t have any ghosts because Chinese culture does not believe in ghosts. This ride is considered more magical and focuses on wizards, witches, and objects that can float independently. This is the most unique Haunted Mansion in the Disney franchise. Did we mention it is Disney Park’s only trackless Haunted Mansion?

All five of these rides have attracted people all over the world. If getting scared is what you are looking for, there is going to be a Haunted Mansion ride near you. Be sure to check them out to see which one is more up your alley and will scare you the most.
