It was only a matter of time before some of the more obscure cases from the husband and wife paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, made it to the big screen. So far their first two outings in The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, alongside all their other Conjuring-universe films have amassed an absolutely staggering $1.8 billion dollar box office gross worldwide. The last cinematic outing into the supernatural for the Warrens was all the way back in 2016. What does 2020 have in store for them? The Conjuring 3: Release Date, Cast, and Crew

Series creator of this beloved horror film franchise, James Wan, will be handing directorial duties over to another veteran horror director in Michael Chaves. If his name sounds familiar it is because he directed one of 2019’s overlooked horror gems in The Curse of La Llorona, which James Wan actually produced as well. Veteran film write of franchise favorite The Conjuring 2 and 2018’s mega box office hit Aquaman, David Johnson-McGoldrick will return here once again. Fear not though horror fans, as James Wan will be on board for producing this newest installment.

Who all is set to return? Naturally, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will be reprising their now-iconic horror film roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren respectively, but will be joining them in this latest chapter? Irish actor Ruairi O’Connor has joined on board with a sizable role alongside actress Sarah Catherine Hook. Rounding out the immediate cast will also be Julian Hilliard, and if his name sounds familiar that’s because he portrayed Young Luke in the critically acclaimed Netflix horror series Haunting of Hill House.

So what evil entity will the Warrens be battling in this horror threequel? This time around the Warrens will be called upon to help with a criminal court case involving a murderous defendant who claims he was possessed by a demon.

The True Story of The Conjuring 3

Inspired by real-life events, the original case for this occurred deep within Connecticut in February 1981. A man named Arne Johnson stabbed another man to death and claimed it was, in fact, a vicious demonic entity that possessed him and made him commit murder. This criminal case has particular notoriety for being the first time that a defendant actually claimed demonic possession as a defense in American history. How did this demonic entity come about? According to the Warren’s, it entered into Johnson after jumping from a small boy as the demon escaped Hell. You know, classic demon jumping from boy story.

The Conjuring 3 Updated Release Date

Marvel Comic fans can rejoice as the publisher’s Morbius the Living Vampire gets the big-screen Hollywood treatment. Jared Leto stars in the titular role as Michael Morbius, a genius-level biochemist who just so happens to exhibit vampiric tendencies every now and then. First tagged as a horror villain in the Spider-Man series, Morbius came to be loved as Marvel’s favorite horror anti-hero. Whether or not he will be a full-on villain in this film remains to be seen, but with co-stars like Tyrese Gibson and former Batman, Michael Keaton…we just can’t wait to find out.

A Quiet Place Part II

Sequel to 2018’s smash horror hit, A Quiet Place, this sequel looks to pick up directly where the original left off. Emily Blunt returns to star as the dedicated heroine Evelyn Abbott as she leads her family into a terrifying new horizon. Producers of the film go so far as to say, “Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.” Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy are welcomed as series newcomers in this hotly anticipated sequel.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Make no mistake about it that the longtime producers of the SAW franchise have felt creatively tapped out by exhausting all possible plot points of this gruesome series to a complete end. Enter legendary comedian Chris Rock who is experiencing a bit of a career renaissance and has stepped up to star in what has been confirmed as a total reboot of the series. Details are scarce, but Rock is playing a police detective who believes he is hot on the trail of discovering who is behind a set of gory murders eerily similar to that of the notorious Jigsaw. As quoted by the late Lorraine Warren regarding the Glatzel case of 1980 in which the films centers around, “I saw a black, misty form…which told me we were dealing with something of a negative nature.” Longtime series writer and producer James Wan is back to write and produce, but details have been ultra-secretive in this third installment profiling the real-life haunting investigations of American’s most popular ghost hunting tandem of Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Glatzel case is a U.S. first in which demonic possession was being used as a defense of a criminal act. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga once again return to the Conjuring Series in what could be the most anticipated horror film of 2021!

Long thought to be a lost cause and in development since 1998, the Ghostbusters series is finally getting a sequel. Featuring original series actors Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson in cameo roles only, the newest installment revolves around a haunted family in Oklahoma who learns of their grandfather’s ghostly past and what it means for them all these years after the “Manhattan Crossrip of 1984”. Funnyman Paul Rudd and Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard are set to co-star.

The Forever Purge

For those completely unfamiliar with the Purge horror series, the premise revolves around a limited night once a year where murder is completely legal in the United States. Churning out a fifth sequel behind this unexpected hit series was to be anticipated and the latest installment is said to be jam-packed with horror violence galore. Starring Ana de la Reguera and Josh Lucas with Will Patton in a co-starring role, this time around series creator and writer of the franchise has said that abolishing the Purge from the previous film will likely have violent consequences in what is now being claimed as the final film in the series.

Candyman

Academy Award winner Jordan Peele (director of Get Out & Us), has stepped up to take the charge of directing one of horror writer Clive Barker’s most prized stories, Candyman. Set in the modern-day condos of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green neighborhood, a local painter struggles with his art career before learning of the gruesome supernatural killer called Candyman who comes calling whenever his name is said five times. Previous Candyman lead actor Tony Todd explicitly gave his blessing to Jordan Peele in this remake and is rumored to even have a brief cameo in this sure to be horror pleaser.

Dark Harvest

Based on author Norman Patridge’s short fiction hit Dark Harvest, Netflix Black Mirror director David Slade has brought to life one of the more interesting horror plots in some time. Once a year, locals in a tiny town send an unlikely competitor into the cornfields to battle a giant pumpkin-headed horror monster called Sawtooth Jack. Despite a plodded out release, details on casting and the special effects for this anticipated thriller are almost non-existent which makes the chill factor on this one a 10/10.

Halloween Kills

The moment we’ve all been waiting for….Michael Myers is back in Halloween Kills. Nearly everyone from the 2018 horror blockbuster is back again. Director and writer David Gordon Green and co-writer Danny McBride. Legendary scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis. Future legendary scream queens Andi Matichak and Judy Greer. Even original director and franchise creator John Carpenter is back bringing with him horror’s most terrifying musical score. Based on the only teaser trailer the studio has published, the sequel appears to pick up just minutes after the first film ended thus guaranteeing horror fans everywhere another long night of Michael Myers carnage! Even more exciting? A third film is not only completed already, but it’s slated for October 14, 2022, and is titled Halloween Ends!

Dexter Is Returning To Showtime In 2021

In 2006 the Showtime Network debuted a new series with an unlikely hero and plot: a Miami police blood spatter expert who moonlights as a serial killer. Dexter became one of the surprise smash hits of cable television, racking up dozens of awards and even endeared an entire generation of viewers to television’s most lovable serial killer……and he’s back!

Here are five things you need to know about the Dark Passenger!

Dexter is officially back and in the flesh! Series actor Michael C. Hall is officially reprising his role as serial killer Dexter Morgan. There was a time in 2009 where an animated series, Dexter: Early Cuts debuted that Hall voiced even had a graphic novel paired with it. Fans, however, weren’t too thrilled and wanted to see Hall back in live-action form. As of today, the Showtime Network has come out to publicly say the new series will not be animated and definitely will be live-action.
Dexter, for now, will be a limited ten-episode series run on the Showtime Network. While future seasons and episodes won’t entirely be out of the question, as with most television series’, it all depends on ratings and fan reaction. Judging by the amount of rabid Dexter fans out there this should be a non-issue.
Fall 2021. Live it, know it, and circle that time on your calendars as this will be the slated premiere for the newest incarnation of Dexter. Filming has yet to begin so a hard date hasn’t been set, but somewhere around Halloween 2021 would be a more than a fitting timeframe for such a morbidly fascinating series as Dexter.
Original Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips is returning. If seasons one through four of Dexter were your thing (who can forget John Lithgow’s creepy role as the Trinity serial killer), then you’ll definitely welcome the news that Phillips is back. Co-President of Showtime, Gary Levine recently commented about doing proper service to fans of the series and only that Dexter’s story would continue if they found a worthy enough storyline to keep him going, and they’ve indeed found one!
Will actress Jennifer Carpenter return as Dexter’s foulmouthed detective sister Debra Morgan? While the presumed series finale tied up almost all loose ends on the series, word around Hollywood is that the story arc for the newest season of Dexter is extremely tight-lipped. Social media for Carpenter has gone dark on the issue. Will she or won’t she? Right now fans are speculating that it’s possible she could so fingers crossed!

COVID-19 has indeed written off many things in 2020, holidays among them. Churches closed for Easter, the local Fourth of July fireworks canceled. Even the aptly named Labor Day had many folks inside trapped within their homes. Halloween was meant to be just another COVID-19 cancellation…….or is it? If there’s one holiday that doesn’t go down easy, it’s Halloween. Its origins are steeped in ancient Druid magic, and like many iconic horror slashers, it’s always waiting to come back from the beyond! Wanting to join in the fight to help save Halloween from the wretches of COVID-19? Your friends here at FrightFind have gotten with some veterans of the holiday (and a doctor or two) to make sure All Hallow’s Eve stays a safe one!

Do Your Research

The biggest pro tip to staying safe on Halloween during COVID-19 is to first know and respect your local trick or treating zones. Do a quick circle of the block or neighborhoods to see firstly if anyone is even receptive to Halloween. If one of your goto neighborhoods are famous for elaborate horror displays in the front yard and they have them set up this year, chances are they’ll participate. On the other hand, if some areas have no displays, signage, or even a pumpkin out front, they most likely will be unwelcoming of anyone on Halloween. How to find safer and more participatory neighborhoods? Local areas of your city or town will have circulating community newspapers and social media pages that tout such events taking place. But above all with planning this out, check with your local health department to know which parts of town may have quarantine restrictions.

Trunk-or-Treat

What if you live in a rural area or an isolated part of town? One of the best and most solid trick or treating events can be found at your local church’s “trunk or treat”. For anyone unfamiliar, a surprisingly large amount of churches hold these events on Halloween out in their parking lots. You pull up, and pop open your truck with bucketed selections of candy ready to be picked out by all the little Spider-Mans and Mulans that come through. In these scenarios, the lots are clean, well lit, and perfect for social distancing! Reach out to the churches online in your area and read their bulletins. Trunk or treat is the best way to get all that candy in a safe and responsible manner. The best part? Some even hire out small carnival attractions that boast games, prizes, and even more treats!

Staying In?

Staying in this year? No problem there either during the pandemic. If having anyone over, CDC recommendations are to make it an outdoor Halloween party with plenty of distancing. One popular trend that’s emerged are people hanging white linen sheets in their backyard and plugging in a digital projector; instant backyard drive-in movie theatre screen where you can play such classics as Evil Dead or Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Many physicians and board of health members agree, if anyone at any time feels ill or displays any signs of COVID symptoms, do not hesitate in asking them to leave or distance themselves from you and your guests. But make sure to politely screen anyone coming into your home for a Halloween party and kindly remind them to maintain a minimum space of six feet between them and other guests.

Trick or Treating

Just looking to hand out treats? Pre-packaged candy is the way to go (sorry apples). Of all things, try wearing a pair of monster or creature gloves when handing out any treats. A popular and fun art project is having kids create their own monster-themed treat bags on a stick. Got an old pool skimmer lying around? Trim it out, secure the bottom and give it a ghoulish theme! So when approaching for treats just extend it out and wait for the candy to drop! One of the better methods for treaters is to employ the oversized Halloween treat bag rather than a little plastic bucket. Not only can you catch air treats tossed safely from a distance off someone’s porch, but bags are deeper than buckets so automatically more candy!

Got bad aim? Set up a spooky front yard Halloween themed card table to create fun distance between you and any treaters. Sanitize frequently and think about setting up a mini sanitizer station. Free disposable masks and hand sanitizer to calm anyone’s fears. Don’t forget plenty of lighting so everyone can see your set up in the dark! In a large neighborhood? Then ask your fellow neighbors to think about setting up a reverse trick or treat line. Have the kids dress up and stay home in the driveway or front yard and have neighbors walking the street asking or tossing, treats to the kids. A safe and effective way to see everyone involved.

Masks may be polarizing to some, but Halloween is the one night of the year where it is perfectly acceptable to wear that Michael Myers or Jason mask and have people vehemently approve! But above all, be smart, and be safe this Halloween!

Tips For Visiting Haunting Houses in 2020

Call Ahead

First, check on your local area haunts status right now. The absolute safest and easiest way is to call them up or check out their online profile. The majority of haunts have social media pages on either Facebook and Twitter with all the contact information you need. Plus, a great deal of them are really good at letting you know their latest operating hours, procedures, and any COVID-19 protocols they have in place.

Go Outside

Next, aim for haunts that are primarily outdoors. COVID-19 is less likely to get ahold of you in a wide-open space. Chances are great that your area will have some of the best-haunted mazes, ghost tours, trails, and hayrides around. In fact, some haunted attractions listed on the FrightFind website even allow for haunted zombie paintball! Talk about the ultimate in haunted attraction social distancing! While true that the group size of people going through these haunts maybe half of what it usually is, this is for the best as being in smaller numbers outdoors will greatly limit any chances of being exposed to COVID-19 while trying to get your haunt on.

Be Nice!

Perhaps the most important thing to remember when going to a haunted attraction or haunted house this year is to respect others. That includes abiding by any and all rules that the particular haunt may have. If they require masks, then please wear them. Some places are even encouraging or offering slight discounts to those wearing Halloween themed masks. Failure to abide by this not only can result in you being asked to leave the haunt, but they would also have to potentially shut down for deep cleaning which means canceled days and unhappy haunted attraction goers. Not cool bro.

Think Outside The Box

There are plenty of creative haunts that go outside of the traditional haunted house box. Remember the Rainforest Car Wash in Ohio that converts into a killer clown car wash? Guess what, it’s back this year! Terror on the Timbers in the Chicago suburbs this year has a haunted H.H. Holmes serial killer ghost tour attraction that you experience all from the confines of your car. Top Haunted Cemeteries in New Orleans

No other city in the United States has more haunted cemeteries within a city limit radius than New Orleans. Plots of land, some carved out centuries ago, were fashioned with beautifully haunting architecture that remains standing to this very day. Here’s a list of the top five haunted graveyards in New Orleans and why you should visit them.

St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery

Right in the heart of New Orleans, St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery is the most visited and most popular cemetery in all of New Orleans, let alone in the United States. Named after the nearby St. Louis Catholic Church inside the famous French Quarter, this beautifully gothic graveyard dates back all the way to 1789 when the first groups of locals were to be buried there. One of the most prevailing theories is that the activity in the St. Louis No. 1 is high because of its most famous posthumous resident. The Voodoo Queen herself, Madame Marie Laveau is buried inside the cemetery gates.

Another popular grave and spirit inside the St. Louis No. 1 is that of 19th Century sailor Henry Vignes who is said to haunt his family’s tomb. For decades visitors have talked about a tall, pale-looking man with intense eyes who appears from out of nowhere and asks if anyone has seen his papers before disappearing behind a headstone. Restrictions in the cemetery are tight and anyone wishing to visit is better served with signing up for one of the local daylight tour groups.

St. Roch Cemetery

The little known St. Roch Cemetery in the middle of the city has earned a reputation of being one of the more haunted places to visit. The history behind the origin of the St. Roch neighborhood goes back to the mid-1800s. The cemetery itself holds one of the rare paranormal distinctions of having a ghost dog on the premises which itself is ironic considering St. Roch is a patron saint for dogs. Over the years many visitors have seen a big black dog with shadow-esque features strolling throughout the rows of headstones. Another ghostly specter resident to the cemetery is simply known locally as “the Hooded Ghost.” There’s no known origin to this spirit that is described as wearing a dark-colored robe with a hood. The Hooded Ghost’s face has yet to ever fully be revealed which certainly notches up the scare factor on this cemetery.

Lafayette No. 1 Cemetery

No numerical relation to St. Louis Cemetery No 1. and situated within the famous Garden District of New Orleans. This very haunted cemetery is dated all the way back to 1832 and holds one of the larger amounts of Irish graves anywhere to be found. People who fell victim to the Saffron Scourge yellow fever epidemic of the 1800s were buried here and it is believed to contain over 7,000 graves, but also contains an untold number of ghosts and spirits as well.

The most fascinating aspect about the Lafayette No. 1 Cemetery is that it’s not haunted by a spate of famous ghosts from historical tombs on the property so much as the haunted reputation is based on the visitor experiences with the paranormal here. Strange sounds run the gamut in the permanently haunted grounds as walking tour visitors have been known to hear sobbing within close earshot. Tears in such a place are to be expected, but not when nobody else is standing around you at all! EVPs (electronic voice phenomena) have been captured in all areas of the cemetery grounds to include the words: “hospital”, “fever”, and “help me”. A burial plot here is rumored to cost upwards of $200,000 for a family, which combined with the paranormal factor makes this an absolute must-see!

Metairie Cemetery

The Metairie Cemetery sits in the lower easter portion of the Metairie area which of course is just a couple miles north of downtown New Orleans proper. One of the more popular haunted areas of this cemetery is the grave of a former New Orleans madam named Josie Arlington who helped run the red-light district areas of the city which flowed from her own prestigious brothel. Josie’s mausoleum at the Metairie stands nearly twelve feet tall and is built entirely out of granite. Most impressive is the granite statue of a woman whose hand is lovingly placed against the doors as if she were in mourning.

The most haunting aspect of this tomb is that visitors and sextons employed at the cemetery have claimed that the statue has disappeared completely at times and reappeared in other parts of the cemetery! The bizarre paranormal activity doesn’t stop there with this particular grave, as on Valentines Day every year (the anniversary of Josie’s death) the granite flames atop her former tomb are said to briefly turn into fire and burn before physically manifesting back into granite!

Big Woods Cemetery

Alright, this one is admitted located outside of New Orleans in Edgerley, but for those who just love a ghost-filled cemetery to visit, then this one is surely a must-do on any ghost tour. Consecrated back in 1827, the grounds are officially haunted by a mysterious entity dubbed, “The Gatekeeper”. Oral legends from area locals claim that the stories began with people witnessing a brightly lit mist that would float about the cemetery in the dead of night. Nobody has ever been known to approach it as those (un)fortunate enough to see it have explained that there is a sense of dread and uneasiness. Visitors to Big Woods have claimed that upon coming across the shadow of the Gatekeeper, they immediately look to leave the cemetery only to find that their car engines fail to start preventing a hasty escape! This cemetery is well worth the visit for any paranormal enthusiast.

Netflix’s New Haunted House Docuseries

Anticipated for a late 2020/early 2021 debut is their most exciting and chilling docu-series yet, a look deep inside the most notoriously haunted houses in the United States. This currently untitled series is set to take viewers further than any documentary series on the subject of paranormal activity has ever taken them before.

Just who is behind this deep dive into the macabre and often taboo subject? Showrunner and director for Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes and the critically acclaimed film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile that starred heartthrob Zac Efron as the infamous serial killer Ted Bundy, horror documentary mastermind Joe Berlinger will be overseeing this series. The production studio that Netflix will be working with on the show is based out of Imagine Entertainment which is further overseen by none other than Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard. Needless to say that anyone who might worry about or question the quality of this paranormal activity series should put those fears to rest as it sounds like the show will be put in extremely good and capable hands.

The horror master, director, writer, and composer of the first film, John Carpenter took to Twitter in the early hours with a letter to Halloween fans with some most awesome news. Never one to drop teases, Carpenter sent shockwaves through social media when he tweeted:

“The movie is something else. It’s fun, intense and brutal, a slasher movie times one hundred, big time. It’s huge. I’ve never seen anything like this…..the kill count…..”

Sounds to us like Haddonfield is about to get bloodier and have more bodies stacked up than it has ever had before!

Halloween Kills Cast

Major players and more are back. Eternal scream-queen Jamie Lee Curtis, sequel survivor mom and daughter duo of Judy Greer and Andi Matichak. Want a blast from the 1978 original? Actress Kyle Richards returns as the now-grown Lindsey Wallace. Even better is that eighties cult actor Anthony Michael Hall has been cast in the role of the equally grown Tommy Doyle. The writer from the 2018 hit, Danny McBride has done a solid job along with Scott Teems punching up the script for the sequel. And return director once again (with John Carpenter’s blessing of course) is David Gordon Green.

The Most Haunted Bars in New Orleans

Looking for a quick drink with a haunted edge in New Orleans? Perhaps a French Quarter Phantoms ghost tour will whet your whistle along with a visit to all of the ghostly cemetery hot spots like St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 or St. Roch Cemetery. We here at FrightFind have put together the four most frightening and haunted bars in all of New Orleans for you to visit for a cold one… if you dare.

The Old Absinthe House

No better place to indulge your favorite drink than at the Old Absinthe House located right on Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter. However, a visit here and absinthe may not be the only spirit you are liable to encounter. The most famous spirit here is said to be that of pirate Jean Lafitte himself! The early 19th-century pirate and bootlegger are said to haunt the second floor of the bar, where some people have claimed to see not only Lafitte standing near the window in his trademark hat but also next to the ghost of former President Andrew Jackson.

Former employees at the Old Absinthe also have spoken about drink glasses mysteriously being moved around or accidentally knocked off bar tables by unseen forces. Even with some table chairs being rearranged, one of the more audible manifestations is the sound of laughter and merriment from corners of the bar in which nobody is present at all. Did we mention the Absinthe drinks?

Pat O’Brien’s Bar

The hottest spot before, during, and after Mardi Gras is none other than Pat O’Brien’s bar, where you’re likely to encounter spirits in both the bottom of a glass as well as floating past you! The bar’s location on St. Peter street was originally constructed all the way back in 1791. The most haunted spot in the bar is said to be the ladies’ restroom up on the second floor. Women visitors and employees alike have said that even the ascent to the second floor near the restroom brings forth a certain eeriness. Vicious cold spots along with a heavy stomping sound that seems to descend from the antiquated attic storage area above are what they notice most.

Like most establishments in New Orleans, the backside area holds smaller courtyards and the one at Pat O’Briens features typical patio furniture for visitors. Many times during non-peak hours, the staff will have the patio furniture straightened and perfected for any visitors, only to walk back outside moments later and see that the furniture has been completely strewn about in disarray by an unseen force.

Tableau

Tableau is, of course, one of the more popular establishments in all of New Orleans. Sitting on at the corners of Chartres and St. Peter Street, this open kitchen bar that’s built within a vintage stage theatre was first formalized in 1916 although historical records date part of the actual brick and mortar building to go as far back as 1789! To start there is the spirit of a particularly self-conscious Civil War Union soldier that has been seen inside Tableau.

Visitors recount seeing a younger man in Union soldier dress blues who appears to be straightening his gloves, lapel, and even hair all in the direction of what is just a normal wall. In 2017, a YouTube video surfaced of camera footage from the bar area. A bartender is quietly sweeping the floor when a dozen wine bottles on their racks fly off and smash across the room! May Baily’s at Dauphine Orleans Hotel

Located just a mere two blocks over from the aptly haunted St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, the Dauphine Orleans Hotel is a French Quarter staple. Guests at the bar and hotel have reported seeing a young, slender woman in a flowing white dress that passes by them in an instant, only to disappear seconds later! Urban legends over time have many believing that the woman in the ghostly bridal dress is none other than Millie Baily herself, May Baily’s younger lovelorn sister.

There are also sightings of other female entities that can be seen dancing through the courtyard areas at any hour of the day in a period dress who seemingly disappear without a trace! As for the hotel half, one family in particular on the second floor reported to be awoken late at night with their bed shaking violently and fleeting cold spots felt, all in the middle of sweltering Louisiana July heat with absolutely zero explanation! Phantom brides, Civil War-era bordello ghost women, and shaking beds? Sign us up!

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

Among the many secondary battle sites of the Civil War is the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee. In a supernatural twist, it is not the Civil War battle sites around the city that are reputed to be haunted, instead, it is the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga that is said to hold all the ghosts. Hooper Hall has doors opening or slamming with nobody there and heavy fast footsteps on the antiquated tile floor.

Students report feeling watched by an unseen presence that seems to bring a chill with it. Despite being an on-campus church, the Patten Chapel is haunted by the spirit of a woman dressed in white. She has been seen in both the daytime as well as nighttime, drifting for an instant by stunned students and agog faculty members. Marquette University

Marquette University was founded all the way back in 1881 and stands as a private Roman Catholic school that was initially built by the Jesuits to help with the influx of the German immigrant population at the time. But being built by such holy men and means, is it safe from the supernatural?

One of the most haunted places on campus is within the Schroeder Hall dormitory, particularly on the ninth floor is where most activity is said to have taken place. Disembodied sounds and shadows got so bad at one point in time that a priest was brought in to bless the room to quiet down any activity. Another student claimed that ectoplasm had even begun leaking down a wall at one point in their room. And even at Mashuda Hall, objects that levitated and moved caused such a disturbance that there is a long-standing rumor around campus that an actual exorcism was performed in the hall so as to end the paranormal activity.

Penn State University

Long considered to be one of the premier universities in the northeast area, Penn State University has been a cornerstone for academia to all those seeking higher knowledge. But your friends at FrightFind are here to tell you, they’ve got ghosts! A campus library is said to hold the spirit of a murdered student who to this very day still tries to break through to the living to reveal her murderer. Atherton Hall is one of the oldest on campus, and it should come as no surprise to anyone that it has a ghost, the spirit of Frances Atherton, the late wife of the school’s former president. Doors slamming and odd noises sure, but at other times her spirit has been spotted as if checking in on the students.

Schwab Auditorium is another campus haunt that many believe contains the spirit of a former janitor who still makes their presence known. Scratching sounds about the floor, doors opening and closing, heavy footsteps in empty areas, and objects being mysteriously relocated are just a few of the reported phenomena. Extra Credit: In 2006, former student Ryan Buell founded the Paranormal Research Society (PRS) at Penn State. It was a homegrown club on campus that met up to investigate paranormal cases in the surrounding tri-state area. Their paranormal adventures were later chronicled in the smash-hit television show, Paranormal State.

Iowa State University

Iowa State may have been founded back in 1858, but it’s very possible that the spirits haunting this campus were there a long time before that. Farm House on campus is said to be haunted by the spirits of two different women who once lived there. While the Farm House is a museum today, the curtains have been spotted by students and visitors mysteriously swaying with nobody in the room. On more than one occasion a female spirit has been seen to manifest and one frightened woman was said to have approached and greeted the spirit before it disappeared into thin air.

Fisher Theatre is still haunted by the spirit of a long-time acting professor who once directed some of the finest plays from her wheelchair. In a chilling turn of events, her wheelchair was donated to the program and still used by the students in plays. And guess what? That very wheelchair has been seen moving and turning….with nobody in it!

The University of Georgia

Like in any good horror film, the most haunted place on a university campus is the sorority. Prior to serving as a sorority house, the Alpha Gamma Delta mansion was actually home to a wealthy Athens family. However, the happy home turned into tragedy when the eldest daughter hung herself after being stood up at the wedding altar.

The spirit named Isabel haunts in a variety of ways. The most innocuous is her turning the lights on and off at odd times, along with the occasional door opening or closing to its residents. However the most terrifying of these paranormal acts is that some young women who are getting themselves dressed in front of a mirror have seen the reflection of Isabel in the mirror staring back at them! Demosthenian Hall is yet another one of the university’s many haunted buildings where an ashen grey spirit has manifested to scare some students out of the building completely.

Yale University

Found in 1701, Yale is the third oldest university in the United States so you just know there are a few ghosts there. On campus is the chilling Wrexham Tower which has its share of dark history. . According to campus lore, three different students at one time or another committed suicide in a third-floor suite there. Intermittently, over the years various students have reported paranormal activity in this particular suite to involve freezing temperatures, voices, and doors opening, and closing, all associated with classic poltergeist behavior. As a result of the complaints, Yale has had the room completely sealed to prevent any further dark manifestations from happening.

Outside beneath the New Haven Green walkways used to be an actual burial ground during the Revolutionary War, but bodies were relocated at some point in the 19th Century to the Grove Street Cemetery. Bodies mismatched with headstones have given further credence to the belief that the spiritual grounds of Yale are quite restless and thus the abundance of ghostly hauntings here.

Gettysburg College

Gettysburg College was founded in 1832, some thirty years before the Civil War and its bloody exploits charged through. Penn Hall is said to be the most haunted place on campus because, after its early construction, the building was used as a temporary field hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg. Reports of the paranormal activity here start innocent enough with lights mysteriously flickering on and off without any provocation or explanation. There are sudden thudding sounds and whispering voices that can be heard in the halls from time to time.

However, it is the basement area of Penn Hall that is the most frightening. Students and campus workers have taken the elevator to the basement and once the doors open, a fully-fledged and manifest Civil War ghost hospital scene is taking place before their very eyes! Virtually all of the other campus haunts here involve Civil War soldier spirits in some varying capacity, making it one of the only college campuses in the United States to be haunted exclusively by spirits from this era in American history.

Ohio University

First constructed all the way back in 1804, Ohio University in the sleepy town of Athens is totally unsuspecting on the surface. However, looking closer this quiet campus has more than its share of noisy spirits. Wilson Hall is the most haunted building on campus and Room 428 is often thought of as the epicenter.

Disembodied voices are said to be heard emanating from the room as well along with on and off again pockets of freezing cold air. The activity has been surprisingly real as objects have been seen both levitating and being thrown across the room by an unseen force! In fact, students have claimed to see very demonic-looking faces in the door and threshold of the room. Oral campus legends have propagated that a former female student practiced astral projection among many other things in the room and quite possibly opened up a doorway. Odds are whatever came through didn’t adhere to the admissions policy exactly.

Fordham University

Constructed by the labor and means of the Catholic Church via the Jesuits, Fordham University in Manhattan is one of the oldest in New York City. Is it haunted? With the supremely gothic architecture and design on the outside and the stories that have leaked out, we sure think so! Martyr’s Court is a cross-section area of campus that holds two antiquated residence halls. Students in the dormitory there have for decades seen the spirit of a little girl with blonde hair who peeps from around corners in the bathrooms only to disappear when approached.

Keating Hall (in 1973 Keating Hall was used as a filming location for the legendary horror film The Exorcist) had a campus security officer doing a routine safety check for the building only for him to flee in terror as chairs in one commons area were wildly being thrown about the room by an unseen entity! Across campus at Queen’s Court, things were so active one night that a resident Jesuit priest who stayed on campus actually had to perform a ritual blessing to ward off the spirits that caused him and the students in the hall not to get any sleep.

Flagler College

St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States and it should come as no surprise that its very own Flagler College is quite haunted! Said to be haunting Flagler College is none other than the spirit of its namesake, Henry Flagler himself. His death may have been in 1913, but that hasn’t stopped his spirit from being seen for several decades afterward. A popular hotel before it became a college, Flagler actually kept a bevy of mistresses all over town including one at the hotel itself. Haunting the fourth floor, this Flagler mistress entity is known as “The Woman In Black”, and her presence is especially chilling. Adjacent to her former room there, students over the years have claimed to hear high-pitched screams as well as see objects flying off shelves. Strange light anomalies have been reported to permeate this area of the hotel that reaches into the college grounds.

Reportedly, a few brave students have breached the closed-off area to the room and a campus rumor claims that some of them entered the room and saw a shadowy figure dangling from the ceiling by their neck. Hopper is Back! Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer

Without a doubt, the wildly popular Netflix series Stranger Things left fans with quite a few cliffhangers for the end of Season Three. Eleven seemed to have been drained of the majority of her powers after fighting off the Mind Flayer. Joyce together with her family and Eleven as well, look to move out of the seemingly cursed town of Hawkins, Indiana for good. Most shocking of all was the literally disintegrating death of beloved Hawkins sheriff and series fan-favorite Hopper, played with droll comic charm by actor David Harbour.

While Hopper’s death wasn’t directly played out on screen, the shockwaves of his death on the show and in the fan community were heartbreaking at best (who didn’t shed a tear when Eleven read Hopper’s letter at the end of season three?). Fan speculation of whether Hopper died or didn’t die in has had fans of Stranger Things in a hot debate for almost a year. And now series creators and directors of the show, the Duffer Brothers have finally given an answer to this long-awaited question. And they did it in a wholly upfront way with a fifty-second long teaser trailer clip.

Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer

Judging by the newest teaser trailer clip from the Duffer Brothers……Hopper is alive! While this is a welcomed and great relief to many fans of the series who felt his character deserved a proper ending, from the looks of the teaser trailer Hopper is alive but none too well. Fan breakdowns of the trailer appear to show Hopper imprisoned in some sort of Soviet Union mini-gulag or work camp deep within the snows. Along with dozens of other prisoners, they look to be busy laying down tracks of some sort. A quick shot of one working who pauses to catch their breath and remove their cap shows Hopper with a freshly shaven head to be among the prisoners.

The trailer ends without revealing much more thus whetting the appetites of Stranger Things fans all over the globe. Production for Season Four officially started in January 2020 and has an end of production date slated to be August 2020. Judging by the longer than normal production calendar the best guess is to presume that Stranger Things Season Four will premier in the late Winter 2020. The Duffer Brothers did officially drop that the first episode of Season Four is to be called Chapter One: The Hellfire Club. For pop-culture fans, the Hellfire Club was a group of wealthy elites in the X-Men comics who controlled various worldwide events and catastrophes.

The Bloody Benders Family

While there are conflicting theories and questions as to who the first serial killer was, we here at FrightFind have an even bigger one for you. Who was the very first family of serial killers? The Sawney Bean Clad is of an Irish true crime legend were the numbers and exploits of victims are hard to certify. The Kelly Family of the Midwestern United States actually had a trap door built under a chair at the dinner table to dump victim’s bodies to their deaths, but even then the death tally is marginal. Just who was the biggest and worst serial killing family on the planet? That grotesque notoriety goes to none other than the Bender Family of Labette County, Kansas. And guess what? Their infamous land is now for sale and you can be the lucky owner of one of the bloodiest places in serial killer history.

Who were the Bloody Benders Family?

Back in 1870, homesteading was still the primary method that a large portion of Americans used to own land. Given away totally for free by the United States government, millions of acres were up to anyone who applied. Among the more socially awkward and unappealing applicants was a German immigrant family by the name of Bender. Late middle-aged patriarch John Bender Sr. and his wife Elvira, were able to secure over one hundred and sixty acres upon which they could build their dream farm. John Sr. spoke almost no English (opting almost always for his native German) and what little that came out was in guttural forms that were likened to that of a vicious dog barking. His wife Elvira barely spoke anymore English than he did and her demeanor and personality were so mean-spirited and vicious that many people who met them believed her to be Satan’s wife in the flesh.

Along for the homesteading farm build was John and Elvira’s only son, John Jr. Most surviving accounts recollect John Jr. to be in his twenties with a shock of red hair and a joker-esque personality. Also with the family was their only daughter Kate. In great contrast to her parents and brother, Kate was reported to be extremely attractive and spoke English perfectly.

In 1871 the Benders opened up a roadside inn adjacent to their Parsons, Kansas property. Their murderous gimmick was later revealed in the national newspapers to be quite simple. Wayward travelers or spiritualist would be lured inside. It was known throughout the town of Parsons that Kate was often seen hanging up flyers advertising her psychic readings and seances that she would hold at the inn. Inside the inn, a table or bench in which a victim sat would have a very simple canvas curtain inconspicuously strung up behind them.

Having the room lit with a typical oil lamp of the time and ready for a psychic reading or seance, the victim’s guard would be down. Behind the curtain would be standing either John Sr. or John Jr. who would then take a sledgehammer and bash the unsuspecting victim in the head from behind. With their skull crushed and brains oozing out, Kate would then produce a knife to slit their throats to ensure their total death before Elvira stripped them of all their monies.

Bodies were kept in the basement area and eventually buried out into the family orchards. The Benders were able to keep up their bloody serial killing ways for nearly two years until they came across their final victim. Dr. William York was a man who went calling on the Benders in the Spring of 1873. When he never returned, his brother Colonel Ed York and Kansas State Senator Alexander York, organized a search party to find their brother. Suspecting the Benders, the York brothers procured warrants to raid the property. Upon seizing the property the Benders escaped, however with what the York brothers found, they simply couldn’t give chase.

What happened to the Bloody Benders?

Bodies were buried in the basement of the inn (which was difficult to breach since the hinges were rusted over with clotted human blood), while out in the orchards, even more victims were found. Most had crushed skulls, others multiple stab wounds, and some even were evidenced as being buried alive. Eleven bodies were officially tabbed by officials while twenty one more were partially confirmed. Across the property were other body parts that never could be claimed thus revealing the true number of unsuspecting victims at the hands of the Bender family to be never truly known.

In their hasty escape, the Benders were able to successfully evade capture for their crimes. One of the most prevailing theories is that John Sr. and Elvira later fled to Minnesota while John Jr. and his sister Kate went to Texas. One of the posse members with Colonel York made a deathbed confession that Kate was captured and set on fire in a ditch right there in Kansas, burned alive for her crimes at the hands of vigilante justice. Her remains were never found.

Through the ages, the property itself was surprisingly maintained and the 152 acres of former bloody Bender property has been put up for sale by the Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company of Kansas. But do you know what is the most terrifying and chilling downside to owning this piece of serial killing family history? The land the bloody Benders once roamed has never fully, and totally be excavated! Are there still remains? Whatever happened to the Benders? For now, only the supernatural heavens know.

Shortly after, this concept with an incredibly small budget became the unexpected horror smash film of 2004. Sixteen years and seven bloody sequels (including one filmed in 3D) later along, with over $976 million at the worldwide box office, it was only a matter of time before the series was reborn. Doing anything special on May 15, 2020? Good, because that’s when Spiral: From the Book of Saw premieres to bloodthirsty horror film fans worldwide!

Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson lead the cast of Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Comedian Chris Rock is set to star in Spiral: From the Book of Saw. Rock has admitted that this role in this horror film is quite out of the element for audiences who enjoy his comedic work, but he has doubled down on his role in the film as a quite serious and level-headed detective. Horror fans can be assured this will not be a comedy-heavy film. The second casting bombshell is the newly disclosed role to be played by Samuel L. Jackson! No stranger to horror films such as Snakes On a Plane or 1408, Jackson’s addition to the cast is more than enough to give this franchise reboot a boost. Rounding out more of the cast will be William Schenk and Marisol Nichols in undisclosed roles.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw Teaser Trailer

The story behind Spiral was actually written by Chris Rock himself who had an idea for the horror franchise. To aid him in putting his twisted vision together, former longtime Saw series writer and director Darren Lynn Bousman is there to properly ensure that this sequel gets the best possible treatment. Also, former longtime producer for the series Oren Koules is back as well, ensuring fans that despite the soft-reboot treatment, Spiral will once again contain some of the most torturous and bloody Jigsaw traps we have ever seen!

Speaking of Jigsaw himself, does longtime franchise veteran and horror master Tobin Bell appear in this film? For now, any trace or word of his presence in the film has been kept a huge secret.

The John Zaffis Museum of the Paranormal

Ed and Lorraine Warren are without a doubt the most famous paranormal investigators of all time. Together, the husband and wife pair investigated some of the most violent hauntings in the world, including the Amityville Horror, the Haunting in Connecticut, the Smurl Family Haunting, and the Enfield Poltergeist. Over time, the pair accumulated an astonishing amount of paranormal and supernaturally charged objects that reside in their own household called the Warren Occult Museum. However, this occult museum is not the only one located in the New England area. Paranormal investigator John Zaffis is the nephew of both Ed and Lorraine Warren, and he has accumulated a vast amount of haunted objects.

Based in Stratford, Connecticut, people come from all over North America and beyond to bring Zaffis whatever presumably haunted object is making their lives absolutely miserable. His personal objective behind the existence of the museum is to educate people on all the different types of haunted items that are out there in the world. He has stood very firm in trying to tell people, who might be looking for help, that haunted items are not exclusive to just a singular belief system or religion. Zaffis stresses that these sorts of haunted items can happen to anyone of any faith and that there are people out there like him who are there to help. However, before any object is just handed over by someone and accepted into his museum, Zaffis first takes it out to a small barn on his property. The object is typically kept there under lock and key until he returns with large quantities of holy water and a prayer book containing certain binding spells. He repetitively and religiously blesses the object to the point where any initial negative energy is thwarted. With objects containing a deeper, and darker energy his binding spells help to keep it in place before it can escape and wreak havoc on those around it.

In educating people on the types of objects out there, Zaffis stresses that everyday objects can be used by evil spirits to harbor dangerous negative energy. Mirrors are one such common object that he tends to see a lot of at the museum. According to Zaffis, mirrors are in fact able to hold energy, by becoming trapped somehow between the glass and filament that binds it together in the back. Spirits can definitely be trapped inside of mirrors and they are particularly effective for conjuring spells. Everyday household objects like mirrors are not the only thing that he has large quantities of in the museum, the other is dolls.

Haunted Dolls

While his aunt and uncle perhaps have the most famous haunted doll, Annabelle, Zaffis certainly has some that are enough to give her a run for her money. One such display in his museum is a little pair of hobo-clown dolls that he has dubbed simply, “The Boys.” Innocently enough they were purchased at a thrift store by a woman who brought them home before noticing an uptick in paranormal activity there to the point she was nearly going insane. He displays them to show how innocent little items like that can still have a dangerous effect.

Another is a ventriloquist dummy named Simon, who has piercing green eyes and a wicked smile. It was a gift for a child, whose parent one day noticed the doll talking and moving its mouth without anyone operating it. Perhaps the most sinister doll there is named Chiefy, who resembles that of a miniature voodoo priest in ceremonial garb. Zaffis says that a woman purchased the doll and took it home, only to witness an overwhelming amount of negative energy manifest. She was bitten, scratched, and harassed by unseen forces to the point that she herself needed an actual exorcism to combat the forces hidden away in the doll.

Haunted Objects

Delving deeper into the museum there is a vast assortment of other haunted objects. There is a white wedding dress that was once worn by a hopeful bride who was strangled on her own wedding day. Many years passed before the dress was resold and the new buyer eventually took it to Zaffis where he had someone do a psychometry reading on it. Mid-way through the reading, the reader felt a choking sensation along with a cold grip around her throat.

He also has a simple silver jewelry box filled with innocent looking jewelry. Perhaps the most haunted item in his possession is that of an antique sword. A woman brought it to him after divorcing her husband, but he gave the sword to his son as a gift instructing him to keep it posted up on the wall in his room. Later the boy’s mother saw a black hooded shadow figure in her son’s room gathered around the sword. Upon investigating the object, Zaffis confirmed that there was indeed Satanic inscribed writing on the sword as well as mysteriously cursed objects built into the handle.

The museum is kept on his private property and not formally open to the public, however, Zaffis has given rare glimpses inside one of the most haunted collections in America. Most often, people call him up for a paranormal investigation leads to them taking the haunted objects home with them. Zaffis does get calls to go collect haunted objects, but after picking them up he says he always is plagued with mysterious car trouble.
