Villains Starring Bill Skarsgård & Maika Monroe Breaking Into the Wrong House

Starring IT’s Pennywise Bill Skarsgård and It Follows heroine, Maika Monroe. Villains follows Mickey and Jules are lovers on the run, headed southbound for a fresh start in the Sunshine State. When their car dies after a gas station robbery, they break into a nearby house looking for a new set of wheels. What they find instead is a dark secret and a sweet-as-pie pair of homeowners who will do anything to keep it from getting out.

Villains looks like a raucous good time for the homeowners as things turn upside down, or perhaps inside out, on the would-be criminals. Both Skarsgård and Monroe are making quite a name for themselves on the horror scene.

In 2015, writer and director Robert Eggers brought to cinema screens a supremely terrifying historical horror film called The Witch. Audiences were terrified at the chilling 1630s period piece of witchcraft and Satanism haunting a small Puritan farming family in the confines of a rural and vastly undiscovered New England forest. A smash hit on so many levels, horror film junkies were eager for an announcement on Eggers next project. The Lighthouse has been announced as the next film from the newfound horror mastermind. Here’s what we know.

Robert Eggers’ ‘The Lighthouse’ – Plot, Cast, Release Date, and Trailer!

    • The Lighthouse is confirmed as being written and directed by Robert Eggers himself. What does this mean? The young director already has a reputation for attention to details and keeping in line with studio deadlines and he has yet to disappoint as A24 film studio has confirmed an October 18, 2019 release date. Just in time for the Halloween film season! And for ratcheting up the creepy factor, Eggers has chosen to film this entirely in 35mm black and white film stock.
    • While The Witch starred a collection of relatively unknown actors, The Lighthouse is going in the opposite direction as it is starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. And as far as anyone knows thus far, these two actors are said to be the only ones in the film. Given the eerie setting of an isolated island lighthouse, these may be the only two for the job.

    The Lighthouse - FrightFind

    • Plot-wise, what can be expected in this film? Part of Robert Eggers success has been his dedication to keeping his story under the tightest of wraps possible. There was a showing of the film at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and even then, details were few. The story of the film is set to be centered around two lighthouse keepers (wickies as they were called in old Maine colloquial’s), who are charged with keeping watch at a lighthouse off the coast of Maine. Can extreme isolation induce such madness? Are there mermaids in the water? Other sea monsters and creatures lurking in the depths? Again details are sparse, but with this director anything is possible.
    • Inspiration for the film came from several different literary resources according to Eggers. These include Tales of New England and Strangers and Wayfarers by Sara Orne Jewett, who is said to have interviewed actual lighthouse keepers and sailors from the 1890s period about their many experiences at sea. Naturally, Moby Dick by Herman Melville was included as well.
    • For people catching a glimpse of the sea-faring madness itself, the official trailer for The Lighthouse has debuted and has already racked up nearly three million views on Youtube in just three days!

Mark those horror film calendars for October 18, 2019 when The Lighthouse opens nationwide!

Any horror fan worth their black salt recognizes the iconic title of Creepshow. In the fall of 1982, super smash horror directing legend George A. Romero made the ultimate terrifying tag team with scare-master Stephen King. Together they wrote, filmed, and starred in the greatest horror anthology film ever made. Can’t keep up with The Walking Dead? Sabrina the Teenage Witch between seasons? Or have to wait another agonizing year before The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs returns? If you are looking for a horror series to binge-watch, look no further than one of the greatest anthology based shows from the 80s classic, Creepshow!

Creepshow Premiere Date and Trailer

The rumors of a Creepshow television show hitting the airwaves has been a long-gestating project among horror production companies. Switching back and forth from showrunners, writers, directors, and even studios; the property has been through quite a lot. Horror anthology fans who yearn for a show reminiscent of Tales From the Crypt were finally relieved that in 2018, the announcement by the mega-popular streaming horror service Shudder brought them the best news possible. September 26, 2019, is the official date when the terrifying new horror anthology series titled Creepshow will officially debut on Shudder.

Headed up by horror makeup legend and longtime Walking Dead producer, Greg Nicotero, the series is rumored to be offering up twelve chilling horror stories for the most discerning of fans. Some of the most seasoned and sought after horror artists have been pursued to help shape the show. Veteran gore master and special effects superman Tom Savini is taking a director’s touch to the episode titles, By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain. This story should bring about plenty of scares as it was written by Joe Hill. If Hill’s name sounds familiar, that’s because he’s a horror author in the same vein as his father….Stephen King!

Times Is Tough In a Musky Holler comes straight from another anthology title the Appalachian Undead, which is promising of new levels of zombie gore and will be spearheaded by showrunner Greg Nicotero himself. And of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without a Stephen King episode, and his is straight from his dark and deadly short story Gray Matter, about a creature of the night stalking a group of people. Actors committed to the show so far include Jeffery Combs, Bruce David Davison, DJ Qualls, and even Kid Cudi!

The best part of all? The official Season One trailer has dropped! Mark that horror calendar for September 26, 2019!

Halloween 2 is Happening

Forty years passed between John Carpenter’s 1978 all-time horror classic Halloween. Then the aptly named rebooted sequel of the same name was delivered in 2018. A certified smash hit with critics and fans, the sequel scored $255 million at the box office against a $13 million dollar budget. Think the film studios are going to wait another forty years for a sequel? Not only is Halloween’s sequel happening, but it already has a filming date. What will the sequel Halloween be titled? Halloween 2? Isn’t this technically Halloween 3? Don’t get us started there, just be excited that “The Shape” is back and so is…

Halloween 2020 Release Date

Halloween 2020

Blumhouse indicated a theatrical release being October 16, 2020. Just a little over a year away, the hard release date by the studio confirms their confidence in the film’s production timeline. This gives all the Michael Myers fans something to mark on their horror season calendars.

Will Jamie Lee Curtis return for Halloween 2 in 2020?

All those rumored reports of everyone’s favorite scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, meeting with production companies concerning a sequel to Halloween are true. Blumhouse confirms Jamie Lee Curtis is back to battle Michael Myers in her role of Laurie Strode. 2018’s Halloween supporting cast featured another female power duo in Judy Greer and Andi Matichak respectively as Laurie’s adult daughter and teenage granddaughter. Deals for them to reprise their roles in the sequel are all but officially as of yet.

Halloween 2020

Director David Gordon Green of the 2018 sequel is also set to return to the horror directing chair once more on the franchise. It is unclear if Halloween‘s 2018 writer, Danny McBride, would be back. However, reports are that the film studio has reached out to screenwriter Scott Teems and they have liked his drafts of the sequel so far. Teems has served as writer and producer on the Netflix smash hit series, Narcos. And if the violence on Narcos tells us anything, it’s that this Halloween sequel is sure to have an incredibly high body count. Additionally, the original 1978 Halloween mastermind John Carpenter was approached and asked if he can be counted on to score the film’s sequel. “We’ve all talked about it,” Carpenter said at a Hollywood function. “We will be ready!”

We will be ready!

With a release date confirmed for the sequel, when does shooting begin? Right now, the timeline for filming on this sure to be horror hit begins early this Fall.

Michael Myers will return to hack and slash his way through Haddonfield October 16, 2020!

In the summer of 2005, heavy metal artist-turned-horror director Rob Zombie shocked audiences with a follow-up to his cult independent film House of 1,000 Corpses by unveiling a new terrifying masterpiece titled, The Devil’s Rejects. Fourteen years later, this horror classic is getting a much-needed sequel and here is all you need to know about his much-anticipated film, Three From Hell!

When is Three From Hell coming to theaters?

Mark your calendars horror film fans because Rob Zombie has confirmed Three From Hell’s release to be in September 2019. With a release date so close, the film has officially been confirmed as being completed! That’s right it is “in the can” as Hollywood film insiders say. Filming on the horror thriller finished last year and Zombie has been fine-tuning the film to the perfect pitch that only horror fans can appreciate.

The Cast of Three From Hell

The sequel has officially been titled “Three From Hell.” For those familiar with The Devil’s Rejects (an absolute must see for any serious horror fan), the lead characters of Otis Driftwood (Bill Mosley), Baby (Sherie Moon Zombie), and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) met their presumed fates in a fierce, Freebird-themed gunfight with police. As the title somewhat implies, the trio has somehow returned and are back to seek vengeance with hellfire and fury! A leaked series of piecemeal photos and footage scraps leaked by Zombie show that the unholy trio may have to endure some sort of violent stint in prison for their sadistic crimes, however, Zombie has worked incredibly hard to keep the plot of his film under the strictest of wraps.

Danny Trejo in 3 From Hell

Danny Trejo in Three From Hell – via Facebook

One of the more exciting points of Zombie’s previous films is the number of cameo and character actors who appear on the screen. Zombie is not only a horror cinephile but also a cinema historian in general, and he’s made sure to pack Three From Hell with some of Hollywood’s most memorable actors and actresses including Danny Trejo, Clint Howard, Dee Wallace, Richard Brake, David Ury, Sean Whalen, Richard Riehle, Barry Bostwick, and Chaz Bono, just to name a few!

Some fans have speculated at Zombie’s date of the film release approaching. Fans will be happy to know that the film has already been submitted and approved the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) with a hard “R-rating” for “strong sadistic violence throughout, adult language throughout, adult sexual content, and graphic nudity”. Horror fans can’t wait as Three From Hell debuts September 2019!

Where’s the Three From Hell Trailer?

Rob Zombie himself announced that the Three From Hell trailer is coming shortly on Facebook. How shortly? See below.

This article originally released in July 2018 has been updated as of 4/30/2019 to reflect new titles and updated information on Jeepers Creepers 4 progress.

After 17 years, the tale of the seemingly indestructible and immortal Creeper may be coming to an end with Jeepers Creepers 4. Originally thought to be Jeepers Creepers 4: Cathedral, it sounds as if we may get a 2 for 1 movie and TV series deal. Jeepers Creepers 4 is in the works and will likely go straight to VOD/DVD release, but Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral is also said to be in development for a potential TV series. Victor Salva, who has directed all three of the prior Jeepers Creepers films, will be also directing what is rumored to be the final installment.

The production of the franchise has hit many snags when fans learned Victor Salva was convicted in 1988 for child pornography, sexual misconduct, and lewd/lascivious conduct. Salva’s continued involvement has cast a shadow on the horror franchise after its breakthrough success of the Jeepers Creepers in 2001.  The series has continued with 2003’s Jeepers Creepers 2 and 14 years later in 2017’s Jeepers Creepers 3, which was supposedly filmed back-to-back with Jeepers Creepers 4.

Jeepers Creepers 4 Plot Details

Details are scarce on the premise of the fourth movie, but here’s what we know so far: Trish has a teenage son named after her brother—Darry. She is also seeking vengeance for the Creeper’s murder of her brother twenty-three years ago at the hands of the Creeper. It is said that Jeepers Creepers 4 will be the end of the series. Jonathan Breck, who plays the Creeper has said that the 4th installment of the series will be going in a totally different direction.

Jeepers Creepers Release Date

Jeepers Creepers 4 has yet to be given a release date. The Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral TV series is in very early development.

Jeepers Creepers’ History Lesson

Before we talk about the newest film in the Jeepers Creepers franchise, let’s take a stroll down memory lane. In 2001, it all began as we saw siblings Trish (Gina Philips) and Darry Jenner (Justin Long) have the road trip of their lives back from college…that is, if they were able to stay alive long enough to escape the deathly, fear-fueled grip of the Creeper (Jonathan Breck).

The first installment bore witness to Trish breaking some major horror tropes, as she eventually outdoes and outlives her brother, whose shocking demise made for an iconically grisly conclusion of the Creeper’s first tale on the silver screen.

Following Trish and Darry’s encounter with the Creeper, Jeepers Creepers 2 saw the efforts of the farm-wise Taggarts—Jack Taggart Sr. (Ray Wise) and Jack Taggart Jr. (Luke Edwards)—to figure out just exactly what the ancient demon is after with his newest slew of victims. Amidst the gore and chaos of the second film, a series of visions from cheerleader Minnie Hayes (Nicki Aycox), leads to audiences learning that the Creeper emerges every twenty-third spring to hunt and eat humans for a twenty-three-day smorgasbord.

The ending sees an aged Taggert Jr. keeping watch over a hibernating Creeper twenty-three years after the events of the film, which he has marketed as “The Bat Out of Hell” for a morbidly humorous roadside attraction.

The loose strings of the franchise began to tie together in the straight-to-DVD Jeepers Creepers 3, with a cameo from Trish in the film as a fleet of law enforcement officers—including Sheriff Dan Tashtego (Stan Shaw), Sergeant Davis Tubbs (Brandon Smith), and Deputy Dana Lang (Joyce Giraud)—attempt to put an end to the Creeper. Like the end of the second movie, we see Trish twenty-three years into the future vowing revenge on the Creeper for Darry’s death.

Legends are everywhere in the paranormal and supernatural communities. They can be oral traditions that tell of a certain event in history, that while unauthenticated by certain means, they nevertheless hold a certain degree of truth to them that is indisputable. In the American West and Southwest, there is one particular legend that has been gaining more and more popularity these days, and that is “La Llorona, otherwise known as “The Weeping Woman”.

The Legend of La Llorona – The Weeping Woman

The most agreed upon part of the legend of La Llorona revolves around a tragedy. Locations vary for the setting between Northern Mexico, California, and the American Southwest area. The legend tells of a woman, in some stories she is referred to as Maria. Others have her simply as “the woman” or “the widow”. She was known to live in a dry area with a small river bank nearby. There have been certain rivers in both California and Mexico that have been associated with Maria, but some simply cannot be located and the only consensus is that her tragedy occurs by the river bank.

The Curse of La Lloronoa - The Weeping Woman

The most standard facts about her story are that she was a beautiful young woman, married to a handsome and faithful soldier of the local military with two young children. The husband is tragically killed while away and word gets back to her of his untimely demise. Overwhelmed by grief, she takes her two young children to the riverbank and drowns them. The legend varies some here that she was said to be wailing loudly as she drowned them. Others have her drowning them before flinging her own self into the river to drown, while another legend has her being found and her running off from the shame of what she did.

Another more unsavory version has the young woman giving birth to twins. When having them baptized there is some sort of error and only one of the children are baptized. Her husband grows disenchanted with her and he leaves her and the twins for another woman. Out of self-loathing, she drowns the children and herself. Upon dying, she is turned away by God and he curses her to forever roam on Earth for what she did to her children. Her spirit is seen near riverbanks, in a faint white dress, with soiled black hair. as she moans and cries out for her unspeakable past actions.

The Curse of La Llorona Comes To Hollywood

The Curse of La Lloronoa - The Weeping Woman

While many versions exist for La Llorona, only now is her story being realized for the big screen. Warner Bros. released a horror film entitled, The Curse of La Llorona on April 19, 2019.  The plot focuses on a 1970’s California family who is being stalked by La Llorona.  James Wan, writer and director of the Conjuring film series is producing. Check out the trailer below.

IT Chapter 2

IT‘s Gonna Be Bloody

Actress Jessica Chastain who plays Beverly Marsh in the sequel recently made some of the most sensational comments about the film’s most terrifying scenes. Confiding to funnyman Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Chastain revealed that while filming a particular scene, the special effects crew on the film informed her that this was the most amount of blood to ever be used in a modern horror film.

IT Chapter 2

She went on to say that so much blood was being used that the next day she found dried blood stuck to the inside of her eyes! Fallon pressed for one more detail on how the film turned out and Chastain demurred originally, but gave in to the crowd and whispered,

“It is scary man, really scary”.

If his name sounds familiar that’s because he’s the director behind 2010’s cult hit, Trollhunter.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark

Del Toro, Melton, and Dunstan are not solely responsible for the plot of the film. Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark is actually a children’s horror novel of the same name. The original novel was a series of three children’s books written by author Alvin Schwartz and magnificently illustrated by the great Stephen Gammell. Written for the scope of the preteens, the books are also anything but subtle. Such terrifying stories as Hearse Song and Ghost With Bloody Fingers are still horror classics.

In late August 2018, a fan of the book series reached out to Del Toro on Twitter, asking as well as begging him to confirm that the scary and terrifying illustrations of the book series drawn by Gammell will be preserved and shown in the film. As of right now, Todd’s role in the new film has not been decided and a new Candyman has not even been cast. The story has spawned half a dozen sequels and grossed more than $255,000,000 in ticket sales alone when adjusted for inflation. As any fan knows, Chucky may be down but is never out!

It is indeed official that on June 21, 2019, a brand new film will open from MGM films as a theatrical release.

Child’s Play Cast

Child's Play 2019

Titled Child’s Play, the film is being considered as more of a soft remake of the 1988 original horror classic. This will be noted as the first film in the series that will not involve original creator and writer, Don Mancini. It will instead be helmed by famed Norwegian horror director and writer, Lars Klevberg. Child horror film actor Gabriel Bateman will star as the troubled Andy Barclay while former comedy actress Aubrey Plaza will co-star as his harrowed mother, Karen Barclay. Star of Atlanta, Brian Tyree Henry, will play a detective investigating the murderous doll.

Chucky is a robot?

Child's Play 2019

Plot details are being kept under very tight wraps. While it is known that this film will be a remake to a degree, there are certain adjustments being made. The biggest and most talked about “upgrade” to Chucky is that he will be “robot doll” of some type. Fans of the series take this as the doll will have a considerable artificial intelligence design that will make him an unstoppable killing machine!

Will Chucky speak?

Child's Play 2019

Currently, the voice behind Chucky in the new film has yet to be named. Longtime veteran voice actor of the doll, Brad Dourif, has said that he was not involved this time. If this holds true, it certainly matches with plot details of the entire “voodoo” origin being scrapped in favor of a more realistic storyline. Others have speculated that the doll will not have any particular voice at all and is to remain both deadly as well as silent. Only upon the film’s release will the truth be known.

A new storyline for Chucky

Child's Play 2019

The current Child’s Play film will run a storyline complete separate from creator Don Mancini’s newest project, a Child’s Play television series. Not only will the television series feature the voice talent’s of Brad Dourif, but it will also feature his daughter, actress Fiona Dourif who played a very integral part in Mancini’s 2017 feature, Cult of Chucky. The television series is in fast development and Mancini insists that Chucky’s terrifying reign is nowhere near over and in fact, it’s just beginning to start up again with the possibility of multiple Chucky’s to co-exist!

What’s the clinical definition of a serial killer? According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), it involves two or more killings spread out geographically and over an amount of significant time such as weeks, months, or even years. Ask anyone on the street which serial killer had the most victims, you’ll likely get answers like Jack the Ripper, Ted Bundy, or Jeffery Dahmer. While their crimes were horrific and terrifying, there is another sadistic serial killer in the United States who claimed to have victim levels of over two hundred.

H.H. Holmes

Here are eight rare and shocking facts about H.H. Holmes and his legacy of murderous terror. You know, before you go see Leo in The Devil in the White City.

    • H.H. Holmes was born as Herman W. Mudgett in 1861 to a normal farming family in rural New Hampshire. His parents were devout Methodists, but in later years there were long unconfirmed rumors of physical and emotional abuse by his father, accompanied by lone behavior that resulted in him torturing small farm animals which is a classic hallmark for serial killers as children.
    • Holmes attended the University of Michigan Medical and Surgery school and he actually graduated according to school records in 1894. He began to work to a degree forensic pathology and had learned to dissect recently deceased people under the apprenticeship of a senior doctor. This is another instance where it’s said that Holmes perfected his vivisection and surgical skill on the many cadavers he had access to.

    • Insurance fraud via the cadavers was one of the ways Holmes had enough money to move to Chicago. He then changed his name from Herman to Henry Howard Holmes so as to avoid any connection to the scams he ran. He also previously worked in a drugstore in Philadelphia where medicine was given to a small child who then died unexpectedly. His move to Chicago was a strategic one, as to avoid further police inspection.
    • Holmes had a three-story pharmacy constructed that also contained a jewelry counter, retail stores, and a top floor hotel. To have enough employees, Holmes put out newspaper ads looking for employees eager to work in the retail and hospitality business with the only caveat being, they all had to sign up for high priced life insurance policies as employees. Money was tight due to the turn of the century economy and many signed up right away to work Mr. Holmes. This was later referred to as the “Murder Castle” by authorities.H.H. Holmes Murder Castle
    • The construction of the Murder Castle was quite complex at the time. The hotel rooms alone numbered over one hundred. During the construction, Holmes made sure that virtually all the rooms were made to be soundproof so as no other guests could audibly hear that others were being murdered. Also, there was an ingenious piping of gas vents that allowed Holmes to randomly asphyxiate guests in their rooms at any moment. Trap doors, chutes, and glorified dumbwaiters throughout the building’s hallways invariably led to the hellish confines of the basement, which itself was bondage racks, solitary confinement cells, dissection tables, and miniature crematory.

    • Murder was entirely random in Holmes mind. Unlucky guests where either consciously or unconsciously taken to the basement where he sometimes vivisected them for personal interest. Other times for extra money, he would sell the cadavers or whole skeletons to medical schools. Reports have stated that the crematorium was semi-operational at times and therefore unreliable due to the number of bodies Holmes was trying to dispose of. To hide the evidence and get rid of the bodies faster, Holmes employed the use of discarding entire bodies into giant tubs of acid. Over the course of a day or two, the acid he used (which he had access to by being a pharmacist still) would completely render the bodies and bones to a slushy pulp that was either further burned, or buried in a ditch or plot around town.

  • Holmes downfall came not at the expense of an escaped victim in the Murder Castle, but rather over an insurance fraud scam involving horses he purchased while on a business trip to Texas. A Texas judge issued a warrant for his arrest and with the help of the Chicago police were led to the Murder Castle and it’s grisly, and murderous contents. Veteran Chicago police were said that there were so many dismembered body parts floating in acid as well as partially cremated remains, that they honestly could not ever come up with an accurate count of just the current number of victims found.
  • October of 1895, Holmes was put on trial for his crimes. He had no remorse and was quoted in court as saying,

“I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing — I was born with the ‘Evil One’ standing as my sponsor beside the bed where I was ushered into the world, and he has been with me since.”

    Did H.H. Holmes cheat death?

  • Hearst Newspaper reporters got to him and paid him a sum of $7,500 to confirm how many people he killed. Holmes nonchalantly told them twenty-seven, but the evidence provided by the prosecution far superseded that. In short order, he was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. On May 7, 1896, Holmes was hung on the prison gallows, however, the noose was never knotted properly and his neck never broke. Instead, he slowly strangled to death for over twenty minutes without any intervention from the executioner. Holmes’s last words before his hanging?

“Take your time. And don’t bungle it”.
