In the summer of 2013, a horror filmed called The Conjuring took cinemas by storm. It chronicled a supremely violent haunting that took a family of seven supernaturally hostage. The film was an immediate success both at the box office and with film critics alike and has even managed to spawn six film-universe sequels with two more on the way. More importantly,  the film introduced to the mainstream audiences a paranormal investigator husband and wife duo named Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Ed and Lorraine Warren

Before long, anything and everything associated with the Warrens has been a very hot topic. Six years after the release of The Conjuring, the haunting involved with it is making a comeback in the most unusual of ways.

History of the Real Conjuring House

The Real Conjuring House

The basics surrounding the haunting of the real Conjuring house involved the Perron Family of Harrisville, Rhode Island. In 1971, parents Roger and Carolyn moved their five daughters into a sprawling farmhouse on the edge of town. Before long objects moved and disappeared, voices chattering, and apparitions were manifesting in the house. The Warrens stepped in and discovered the home and property had a sinister past in which many members of a single-family had died under dark circumstances. Years of work went into the home before the Perron Family moved out in 1980. But what became of the house?

The Real Conjuring House Has New Owners and Tennants

It was with little fanfare that a couple from Maine named Cory and Jennifer Heinzen purchased the home in June 2019. Posed as paranormal investigators in their own right, the Heinzens claim the house initially started off as quiet and uneventful before things began to supernaturally snowball. Doors opened and closed on their own, footsteps tapping all over the house, random knocks on the walls, and the faded sounds of ghostly voices whispering all over the many parts of the home. The Heinzens say that while there is indeed supernatural activity in the home, they do not by their own assessment feel that whatever is in the home is diabolical in nature. In comparing their experience with the Perron Family both started off eerily similar. However, things eventually transgressed for the Perrons before they eventually left the home. Will the same happen to the Heinzens?

The Heinzens Purchase the Conjuring House

At the present time, Cory and his wife have ramped up documentation in the home by inviting paranormal guru Zak Bagans and his Ghost Adventures crew over. Premiering on Halloween night, the footage of Bagans and his crew’s extended stay inside the infamous Conjuring House will be shown to the world. Will the documentary uncover the sinister spirits in the home once and for all? According to one of Perron’s daughters Andrea, there is no telling what will manifest.

“It’s magical. It’s a portal cleverly disguised as a farmhouse. It’s multiple dimensions, interacting simultaneously.”

Michiganians getting ready for Halloween have a lot of options around the state to get in the mood. From corn mazes to pumpkin patches and all the things in-between. At FrightFind, we like to keep it spooky all year long. Here are a few of our favorite haunted houses and real haunted places for the spooky season. If you can’t find something near you below, check out our entire list of haunted houses in Michigan to find something closer to you.

Bay City Haunts

EDSON INCIDENT

Bay City area people are in luck when it comes to the finest in haunted house horror attractions. Near and dear to your location is the Edson Incident Haunted House. Climb aboard the USS Edson with your bravest friends and try to endure five hellish decks with claustrophobic fear bearing down on you. Special attention goes to this haunted attraction for also running a special “blackout” event where you and your friends are given a single flashlight to navigate this naval ship in total darkness. As a real-life haunt, the USS Edson is open for paranormal groups to come in and hold investigations as well.

In reality, the USS Edson is considered to be one very haunted naval destroyer that saw action during the Vietnam War and into the Cold War. Referred to as the “Grey Ghost of the Vietnamese Coast”, the ship has an astonishing amount of paranormal activity coming as many speculate from all the pent up residual energy of the many battles it was in. Objects moving, doors opening and closing, and the spookiest sounds you’ll ever hear, this is definitely a fun-time Halloween experience that will guarantee to scare the ship out of you.

Traverse City Haunts

SCREAMS IN THE DARK

Traverse City residents have perhaps one of the most intensive haunted attractions ever at Screams In the Dark. The Haunted Hayride and Haunted Trail are there for the outdoorsy types who prefer to look up at the full moon while screaming in terror. However, what makes this haunt stand out is its crowd-pleasing attractions. The Swamp of Suffering is crawling with infected backwoods ghouls who make use of shadowy pathways to scare you senseless. The Swamp eventually exits out up against Dreadmore Manor, home to a twisted physician who’s ungodly creations prowl about. Screams In the Dark is a hidden horror gem that will give you and your friends a scare to remember.

Niles Scream Park and Zak Bagans

NILES HAUNTED HOUSE SCREAM PARK

Niles is home to the most intense and insanely fun haunted attraction on the Michigan/Indiana state line. Niles Scream Park has been a long-standing horror staple in the area that features over six fresh horror attractions (that are brand new every year), that’s spread out over an astonishing forty-four acres. Among the highlights are the Deadwood Salon where the souls of some of the most cut-throat Gold Rush era ghouls are liable to sneak up on you and demand back their stolen gold. N’Awlins Nightmare will have you looking at the Big Easy from a totally different angle as you’re chased through this haunt by some of voodoo’s most heinous monstrosities. And the classic Niles Haunted House is the most popular spook attraction with over 100 different terrifying paths to take.

Zak Bagans' Demon House

If you’re still feeling froggy, less than an hour drive over the state line into Gary, Indiana will put you face to face with the notorious Zak Bagans Demon House. The ruins of this house still stand which has become something of an occult pilgrimage, it was the site of a violent demonic haunting that had the children in the house walking backward up the walls as well as being the reason why Zak Bagans developed a permanent eye injury after a ghost attack.

Detroit Haunts

Notorious 313 Haunted History Tours

Detroit, don’t think we forgot about you on this haunted roundup! This listing is less of a haunted attraction and more of that real-life paranormal experience. Notorious 313 is a True Crime and Ghost Lantern Tour. Catering to those who are looking for a historical walking tour with a sinister side, this jam-packed Halloween crowd-pleaser is a regular sell-out, so early tickets are an absolute must. Let the real-life horrors of the street come to life in vivid storytelling fashion as you hear about the supernatural side of the Motor City. However, whenever you leave the tour on your drive home if you have any courage left, local area paranormal groups have been known to run intensive tours inside the haunted asylum that still stands today. Asylum, sanatorium, and cemetery all in one? If you’re looking for ghosts it doesn’t get any better than this.

With the Halloween season upon us, horror film releases are now in full swing. Zombieland: Double Tap, The Lighthouse, Three From Hell, and Doctor Sleep are just some of the films scaring up movie theatre audiences worldwide. And as 2019 will soon come to a close, it makes horror fans wonder just what will be on the horizon in 2020?

Here are the Top 7 Horror Films coming for 2020.

The Conjuring 3

The Conjuring 3

With a Conjuring-film-universe box office take that has amassed a worldwide gross of over one billion dollars across eight films, interest in this horror franchise is at an all-time high. Warner Bros. has heard you loud and clear horror fans, and with that in mind, everyone’s favorite paranormal investigator husband and wife due…..Ed and Lorraine Warren are back. The Conjuring 3 is slated to be released on September 11, 2020. So what demonic forces will the Warrens be up against is this threequel? This time the film is said to center around a man on trial for murder who claims a demon made him do it. Can the Warrens help acquit him via their paranormal knowledge? Mark your calendars for sure on this one.

Gretel & Hansel

Gretel & Hansel

Bringing to life any Grimm’s Fairy Tales is always an event for families as their imaginative stories are timeless and ultimately happy in their endeavors…..sans one of them. Gretel & Hansel is widely regarded as the darkest of their tales and 2020 will be certainly kicking off with a fright. This live-action supernatural fright-fest is already gathering a strong word of mouth buzz based off the terrifying trailer alone. A dark Germanic witch folklore horror film, sign us up. The Witch’s oven preheats in theaters January 31, 2020.

Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills

A followup to the direct 2018 sequel based on the John Carpenter slasher classic, Halloween Kills will be the second installment in a purported trilogy about Haddonfield’s most un-favorite son. Horror scream queen legend Jamie Lee Curtis will be back as the vigilant survivalist Laurie Strode, once again bracing herself and her family from a relentless attack from Michael Myers. After the events of Halloween, the Strode family is working to piece together their lives, but as the dreaded holiday comes around once again will Michael be able to finally kill off his family? Halloween Kills opens October 16, 2020.

Fear Street

Fear Street

Adolescent horror author R.L. Stine’s second most viable book series is about to come to the big screen in June 2020, as Fear Street is set to hit movie theaters. Horror novel fans have been waiting over thirty years for this particular franchise to come to life after the success of Stine’s other horror property, Goosebumps, took off at the box office in 2015. Fear Street will be a film similar to Goosebumps, in the sense that it will contain an amalgamation from some of Stine’s most terrifying novel plot lines. Don’t think for a moment that Fear Street will be for kids, as that novel property always contained a deeper and much darker twist.

Fantasy Island

Fantasy Island 2020

From 1977 to 1984, Fantasy Island was one of the more feel-good television shows that brought to life fantasies for people looking at a chance to have them fulfilled on a lush island paradise. Of course, it is only natural that not only will a reboot of the show take place in movie form, but that it has been repackaged into a supernatural horror thriller.  The island was always a mysterious place, but just how deep and dark does all that go? Starring character actor Michael Peña and horror veteran Michael Rooker, we can’t wait to look for de plane on February 14, 2020.

Last Night In Soho

Last Night In Soho

Hotshot action comedy director Edgar Wright had a realization this past year that not only has he never made a film in central London but that he’s also never made a horror film. With quite a filmography including Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim, and Baby Driver, Wright is looking to change things up cinema-wise. Currently a release date of September 25, 2020 has been set by the studio, but what’s the plot? In typical Edgar Wright fashion, he has flat out refused to give any details on his new film which he has vaguely termed as an intense “psychological horror-thriller.” If pictures are worth a thousand scares, this is going to be a good one.

A Quiet Place II

A Quiet Place Part 2

A Quiet Place was the breakout horror hit in 2018. It was one of the most unique horror films ever made that seemed to command theater audiences to physically be silent as they listened to what unfolded in the taught horror thriller. The hotly anticipated horror sequel is set to premiere on March 20, 2020. But what is the plot and cast situation this time around? Added to the cast are acting great heavyweights Djimon Hounsou and Cillian Murphy. What can we expect for the plot? Return writer and director John Krasinski is refusing to give out any details to keep the surprises as shocking as he can, with the only hint being offered up that the film will involve brand new, and original concepts not featured in the first film.

The Shining 2: Doctor Sleep Coming in November

Slow down, it’s not even October yet. Let’s set our sights on Halloween first, OK? Great, now read on.

Horror cinema buffs, paranormal investigators, and Stephen King superfans know all the essential visuals. They know the scenes, the haunted spots, and lines of dialogue by heart at this point. In case anyone has been living under a supernatural rock, anything to do with  The Shining, in either written or film form, has only gotten more and more popular. In fact, booking a room at “The Shining” Hotel, AKA Stanley Hotel, in the notoriously haunted Room 217 is nearly impossible to achieve without waiting months for a chance. With the forthcoming and much-anticipated sequel, Doctor Sleep nearing arrival, there has been a huge resurgence in all things Shining related. Think things ended then and there with Jack Torrence frozen and young Danny escaping into the night with his tormented mother? Here is everything we know about this soon to be smash horror film sequel from Warner Bros (semi-spoilers ahead) that is set to premiere in theaters November 8, 2019!

Stephen King’s Shining Poll

In 2009, Stephen King took a poll on his website for his readers and asked them which they would rather have him write next: a sequel to The Shining or another Dark Tower. The Shining sequel won by a huge margin. Finally, in 2013, the long-awaited written sequel was published and it contained a plot that saw Danny Torrence in his forties, working in hospice care as he runs across a young girl named Abra who possesses much of the same abilities as Danny. Complicating things is a deadly group of psionic vampires who essentially “feed” off the “shining” that both Danny and Abra possess! A monster hit for King and another bestseller, Hollywood has been careful in planning the big-screen adaptation.

Doctor Sleep Cast

Ewan McGregor in Doctor Sleep

Actor Ewan McGregor has been dutifully cast in the role of a middle-aged Danny Torrence. Young and upcoming actress Kyliegh Curran secured the sought after role of young Abra Stone, Danny’s young friend. Along the way, Mission Impossible franchise veteran Rebecca Ferguson is playing the role of Rose the Hat, leader of the psionic vampire-like cult who pursues Danny and Abra. While actors Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, and Emily Lind help to round out the cast. The studio has assured fans that the film is in good hands with writer and director Mike Flanagan who also helmed another King novel, the critically acclaimed Gerald’s Game for Netflix. Flanagan has been tightlipped on how many direct connections there are going to be between his film and Stanley Kubrick’s 1977 masterpiece, but he did have to assure King multiple times that he wouldn’t actively deviate from the source material.

The best part? The trailer for the film is already up! Doctor Sleep premiers November 8, 2019, so keep those post-Halloween film calendars marked down!

Doctor Sleep Trailer

Cemeteries are much more than areas mapped out for the eternal rests granted to those who shuffled off the mortal coil either too early or too late. Over time, these sacred grounds have come to both paranormally and supernaturally reveal to the world that they are anything but restful dwellings. Ghostly figures, shadow men, mysterious laughter, burning headstones, and unexplained phenomena of all types are to be found in cemeteries and graveyards all across the United States.

Here are the top seventeen most haunted cemeteries in the country.

Smith Anderson Cemetery

Windham, Maine

The Haunted Smith Anderson Cemetery

Twelve miles outside of Portland, Maine is what many consider to be the most haunted cemetery in the entire state of Maine. Set at the end of a long dirt road, this cemetery may be on the small side with 528 graves, but it is definitely big on the haunts. Namesake to the cemetery, the Anderson family’s personal crypt on the property has elicited many mysterious bangs coming from inside the walls to visitors passing by. Most peculiar to this location is the activity involved with people’s cars. Many have gone to visit the grave of a loved one only to find their car has mysteriously moved ten feet in another direction without any assistance. Some have found engines running and all four car doors open…..with no keys in the ignition at all.

Concordia Cemetery

 El Paso, Texas

The Haunted Concordia Cemetery

A formidable cemetery with over 53 acres and an estimated 60,000 graves, the Concordia definitely has the space for a few supernatural events. In serial killer lore, “The Nightstalker” Richard Ramirez made this the central location for many of his dead of night Satanic rituals. Ironically the most haunted area of the cemetery is the infant section. A melancholy area for anyone, some women who have visited this particular area of the cemetery have spoken that passing over the infant graves they inexplicably feel their c-section wounds actually tingling. Special tours are held here during the Halloween/Dia de Los Muertos holiday.

Stull Cemetery

 Stull, Kansas

Haunted Stull Cemetery

One of the most frightening to make the list, the Stull Cemetery in Douglas County, Kansas had been rumored to cause His Holiness Pope John Paul II to actually give Vatican pilots instructions to fly around it when he visited the United States in 1993. There is the broken down Stull Cemetery Church, which is said to have been the site of many late-night Satanic rituals that not only made the Prince of Darkness appear but also created a portal to Hell on the very property. The ruins of the church left a bizarre staircase that was buried into the ground where many paranormal enthusiasts felt was a stairwell straight to Hell.

Lubbock Cemetery

 Lubbock, Texas

The Haunted Lubbock Cemetery

Conservatively estimated to hold a minimum of sixty thousand graves, the Lubbock Cemetery is a very chilling place to be. Standing to the background of the cemetery is a towering, an abandoned railway trestle. Unexplained sounds have emanated from there so often it has been coined to be “The Gate of Hell”. Late rock and roll icon Buddy Holly is buried here, and many visitors claim that not only is the angel statue near his grave possessed and threatens your escape from there, but also that you can hear his music softly being played from somewhere down in the ground.

Resurrection Cemetery

Chicago, Illinois

The Haunted Resurrection Cemetery

This is the only cemetery known to have the ghost actually haunting it, hitchhike and ask for a ride miles before you get there. Resurrection Cemetery is the home to Resurrection Mary, a seemingly lovelorn spirit and urban legend icon that desires nothing more than a ride to her final destination of the evening, which just so happens to be the local cemetery. Many terrified drivers have seen her escape from their cars and run off amongst the tombstones in the dead of night. Other times drivers have reported that she simply disappears in front of their very eyes. In fact, the burned handprints on the front cemetery gate are said to belong to none other than Resurrection Mary herself.

Old Gray Cemetery

Knoxville, Tennessee

The Haunted Old Gray Cemetery

Near to the downtown heart of Knoxville, the Old Gray Cemetery is actually one of distinction holding many fine Southern dignitaries, politicians, and even celebrities among its 5,700 plus graves. During the daytime, it’s quite a sedate, and dignified environment. However when night falls, sometimes total hell breaks loose. The chief entity haunting the Old Gray is locally referred to as “Dark Aggie.” A shadow man that appears in the form of a black mist, he’s been known to not only sneak up on late-night visitors but also mysteriously be able to whisper their name to them without any provocation whatsoever.

Manoa Chinese Cemetery

Oahu, Hawaii

The Haunted Manoa Chinese Cemetery

The oldest and largest Chinese cemetery in all the Hawaiian islands, the Manoa is one creepy place to be. Aesthetically designed to employ the use of feng shui to keep certain energies at bay, however, this particular subset of geomancy is proving to only go so far. The frequent laughter of children at all hours in all locations of the cemetery is an especially perplexing and paranormally troubling activity. Nighttime plays hosts to many orange flying orbs which many of the locals say leads to a deadly curse. Stories of vanishing bodies and manifestations even have some hardened police officers on the island slightly afraid to go and check out the cemetery alone.

Pere Cheney Cemetery

Pere Cheney, Michigan

Pere Cheney Cemetery

The cemetery in this location also serves as having the double distinction of not only being haunted but also being located inside a modern-day ghost town. Central among the eerie atmosphere in this antiquated graveyard is that of the Pere Cheney Witch. Local lore has many believing the witch was having a child born out of wedlock and cursed the town before being hung there in the cemetery. Glimmering, soft glowing orbs have reportedly been a supernatural mainstay at the cemetery over the years. Also, brave visitors have reported hearing the sounds of what is said to be children laughing and some visitors have even dashed to their parked car in fright only to find children’s handprints mysteriously covering their cars.

Stepney Cemetery

Stepney, Connecticut

The Haunted Stepney Cemetery

The Stepney Cemetery is currently going down in paranormal enthusiast lore thanks in part to its now most famous dwellers, international paranormal investigator power couple, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Think the Warrens would finally be getting any rest after a long life of investigating American’s most violently haunted homes? Think again! The cemetery has a penchant for both Civil and Revolutionary War spirits. In fact, the first and oldest known grave belongs to a soldier named Nathaniel Knapp who still is said to be seen today. Lately, visitors also report if you say a prayer at Ed Warren’s grave and then touch the tombstone, the cross is extremely warm to the touch even in the middle of winter.

Lafayette Pioneer Cemetery

Lafayette, Oregon

The Haunted Lafayette Pioneer Cemetery

The sleepy town of Lafayette lies half an hour southwest of Portland and is home to the haunted and wholly eerie Lafayette Pioneer Cemetery. The top spirit in the cemetery is said to belong to that of a witch who was brutally murdered there on the property sometime in the 1850s. One of the most bizarre and incredible reports of activity associated with the witch at the cemetery is a change in the weather. Not just rain to sun or hail to snow. It’s almost as if the entire season changes. A hot summer day suddenly has a mid-winter gust to it. Winter winds suddenly give way to a spike in temperatures. Feelings of being watched along with some choice EVPs have this cemetery being high on the scare factor scale for sure.

Grandview Cemetery

Elizabethtown, Kentucky

The Haunted Grandview Cemetery-cemetery

Graves inside the Grandview Cemetery date all the way back to the 1700s, making it one of the oldest cemeteries in the entire state of Kentucky. However, it has been known to some locals and visitors, not as the Grandview, but instead “The Gates of Hell.” Spirits here are said to be the supernatural manifestation of Satanic occult practices carried out in the cemetery and woods surrounding it over the course of two hundred years. The atmosphere they create is one of invisible fear as few people have reported feeling quite an unease stepping foot onto the cemetery property. Animal sacrifices here have happened on the property so often over the years that some locals have referred to it as “the Killing Field.” Such sacrifices are said to call upon a witch that lives in the wooded area. People have reported hearing blood-curdling screams in the middle of the day as well as at night with nobody around at all.

Cedar Grove Cemetery

New Bern, North Carolina

A picturesque and sleepy coastal North Carolina is one of the most unlikely places to have a haunted cemetery, but it no doubt does. The single most disturbing fact about this location is the staggered coquina shell triple arch that stands at the front of the cemetery. It is called the “Weeping Arch” by many locals and certainly for good and quite deadly reasons. Mysteriously enough, when a funeral party is said to pass underneath, red-rust colored like tears have been known to drop down from the arch as if it were weeping for the dearly departed. Worse yet there is an urban legend attached to it saying that anyone passing under who gets hit with a droplet will be marked for death next!

Union Cemetery

Easton, Connecticut

The Haunted Union Cemetery

This is the cemetery that had hardened demonologist Ed Warren running for his life in the middle of the night. Situated in Easton, Connecticut, the Union Cemetery is home to the famous “White Lady” spirit. She has been described as having a long face with cascading black hair on either side of her head and wearing a long flowing, period piece white dress. The White Lady has been known to walk along Highway 59 and many times drivers have encountered her ghostly visage up close and personal when some have even said to have driven their cars straight through her. Not only have drivers driven through her, but some report that they have felt her very “ghostforce” as her spirit passes through the car. Ed Warren did come close and discovered a rather bizarre connection between her spirit and those of floating orbs in the graveyard, however, he could never truly investigate it because a black phantom ghost dog would prevent it!

Westminster Burial Ground

Baltimore, Maryland

The Westminster Hall Burial Ground

The Westminster Hall and Burial Ground is a very antiquated cemetery located in the heart of the city of Baltimore and the most frequented grave in the entire cemetery is of melancholic poet and author, Edgar Allen Poe. One of the more terrifying entities in the cemetery is the “Screaming Skull of Cambridge.” According to various oral legends, the skull belonged to that of a minister in the area who was brutally murdered and shrieked his head off as it occurred. Today people have reported hearing an incredibly high-pitched, piercing scream that comes from the area where the screaming skull is said to be buried.

Bodie Cemetery

Bodie, California

The Haunted Bodie Cemetery

The Bodie Cemetery itself lies inside of a real-life ghost town from the mid-1800s and is supremely haunted. The most remarkable thing about the Bodie Cemetery is that there is a particular supernatural activity that involves children and dwelling within the cemetery is the spirit of the “Bodie Angel”, a young girl tragically killed by her own father. Men who have toured the cemetery have also reported that they have heard a young female voice speaking out and saying the word, “daddy.” Lost spirits of Asian railroad workers who were buried without the customs of their religious faiths are said to pace endlessly here, awaiting an eternal rest that never seems to come for them. There is also the Bodie Curse that is associated with the cemetery and that any visitor who takes even the tiniest souvenir from the ghost town will be subjected to incredibly and even supposedly fatal bad luck.

Forest Park Cemetery

Troy, New York

Largely abandoned with well over an estimated one thousand graves, the Forest Park Cemetery in Troy, New York has become a chilling memorial to the dead. Right away the atmosphere is moody and dark, and backdropped against the granite tombstones and aged mausoleums is an angel statue that has been decapitated. Today, some visitors claim that this blood from the statue still drips from the neck where it lost its head, but this has never been confirmed. For those brave enough to make it past the headless angel, people have reported being scratched by an unseen force in the cemetery across the back of the neck and down their arms. Flurrying red orbs and spectral lights are sometimes spotted floating and streaking past some of the caved-in graves. Whether or not the Forest Park Cemetery is haunted by a possibly demonic spirit given the signs, the paranormal speculation on this chilling graveyard continues.

Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery

Bremen Township, Illinois

The Haunted Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery

Located just minutes from downtown Chicago in the outlying area Bremen Township is the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve. However, deep within the heart of this heavily wooded preserve is an isolated, one-acre cemetery that many locals say is the most haunted location in the entire Chicago area. Burials in Bachelor’s Grove are said to go back as far as 1834 when a portion of German immigrants settling to the area were buried here as well as workers who perished on the nearby Illinois and Michigan Canal. A local rumor is that Chicago mobsters from the 1920s and 1930s used to come here and bury bodies of those they killed. This may be a paranormal first, but an actual phantom ghost house has been physically known to manifest and then disappear. Today the Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery is still accessible through the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve. Many who visit here claim that anyone who enters here must not come with bad intentions as it is a respected graveyard and doing anything sinister is likely to cause a most unwanted manifestation. Guarded by Cook County Forest Officers, Bachelor’s Grove is only accessible during daylight hours.

READY OR NOT Movie Poster

READY OR NOT poster 2019 horror film

In 2015, writer and director Robert Eggers brought to cinema screens a supremely terrifying historical horror film called The Witch. Audiences were terrified at the chilling 1630s period piece of witchcraft and Satanism haunting a small Puritan farming family in the confines of a rural and vastly undiscovered New England forest. A smash hit on so many levels, horror film junkies were eager for an announcement on Eggers next project. The Lighthouse has been announced as the next film from the newfound horror mastermind. Here’s what we know.

Robert Eggers’ ‘The Lighthouse’ – Plot, Cast, Release Date, and Trailer!

    • The Lighthouse is confirmed as being written and directed by Robert Eggers himself. What does this mean? The young director already has a reputation for attention to details and keeping in line with studio deadlines and he has yet to disappoint as A24 film studio has confirmed an October 18, 2019 release date. Just in time for the Halloween film season! And for ratcheting up the creepy factor, Eggers has chosen to film this entirely in 35mm black and white film stock.
    • While The Witch starred a collection of relatively unknown actors, The Lighthouse is going in the opposite direction as it is starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. And as far as anyone knows thus far, these two actors are said to be the only ones in the film. Given the eerie setting of an isolated island lighthouse, these may be the only two for the job.

    The Lighthouse - FrightFind

    • Plot-wise, what can be expected in this film? Part of Robert Eggers success has been his dedication to keeping his story under the tightest of wraps possible. There was a showing of the film at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and even then, details were few. The story of the film is set to be centered around two lighthouse keepers (wickies as they were called in old Maine colloquial’s), who are charged with keeping watch at a lighthouse off the coast of Maine. Can extreme isolation induce such madness? Are there mermaids in the water? Other sea monsters and creatures lurking in the depths? Again details are sparse, but with this director anything is possible.
    • Inspiration for the film came from several different literary resources according to Eggers. These include Tales of New England and Strangers and Wayfarers by Sara Orne Jewett, who is said to have interviewed actual lighthouse keepers and sailors from the 1890s period about their many experiences at sea. Naturally, Moby Dick by Herman Melville was included as well.
    • For people catching a glimpse of the sea-faring madness itself, the official trailer for The Lighthouse has debuted and has already racked up nearly three million views on Youtube in just three days!

Mark those horror film calendars for October 18, 2019 when The Lighthouse opens nationwide!

Any horror fan worth their black salt recognizes the iconic title of Creepshow. In the fall of 1982, super smash horror directing legend George A. Romero made the ultimate terrifying tag team with scare-master Stephen King. Together they wrote, filmed, and starred in the greatest horror anthology film ever made. Can’t keep up with The Walking Dead? Sabrina the Teenage Witch between seasons? Or have to wait another agonizing year before The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs returns? If you are looking for a horror series to binge-watch, look no further than one of the greatest anthology based shows from the 80s classic, Creepshow!

Creepshow Premiere Date and Trailer

The rumors of a Creepshow television show hitting the airwaves has been a long-gestating project among horror production companies. Switching back and forth from showrunners, writers, directors, and even studios; the property has been through quite a lot. Horror anthology fans who yearn for a show reminiscent of Tales From the Crypt were finally relieved that in 2018, the announcement by the mega-popular streaming horror service Shudder brought them the best news possible. September 26, 2019, is the official date when the terrifying new horror anthology series titled Creepshow will officially debut on Shudder.

Headed up by horror makeup legend and longtime Walking Dead producer, Greg Nicotero, the series is rumored to be offering up twelve chilling horror stories for the most discerning of fans. Some of the most seasoned and sought after horror artists have been pursued to help shape the show. Veteran gore master and special effects superman Tom Savini is taking a director’s touch to the episode titles, By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain. This story should bring about plenty of scares as it was written by Joe Hill. If Hill’s name sounds familiar, that’s because he’s a horror author in the same vein as his father….Stephen King!

Times Is Tough In a Musky Holler comes straight from another anthology title the Appalachian Undead, which is promising of new levels of zombie gore and will be spearheaded by showrunner Greg Nicotero himself. And of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without a Stephen King episode, and his is straight from his dark and deadly short story Gray Matter, about a creature of the night stalking a group of people. Actors committed to the show so far include Jeffery Combs, Bruce David Davison, DJ Qualls, and even Kid Cudi!
