As always, we are not here to rank or tell you which killer clown is scariest (clearly it’s Pennywise); we are just here to bring you at least one haunted house to visit in every state and even more in every state. Some haunts draw thousands; some draw dozens. We have some repeat favorite haunts, but there’s also new blood.

Alabama Top Haunt: Warehouse 31
This warehouse is waiting to store your soul.
The best-haunted attractions are the ones that give a chilling backstory to immerse you full-stop, right into the terror. Warehouse 31 located in Pelham, Alabama has fiendishly prided itself on, “turning nightmares into reality.” The story? An alternate dimension known only as “The Rift” has been crudely opened and the “Creatures of the Rift” have come pouring through into our world. Opening interdimensional gates aren’t without bloody consequences as the ripping of the time-space plane has created a distortion to a fifty-scene plus series of mind-bending mazes that you and your friends must escape from. Level up your scare by opting for the 3D upgrade, or signing up for the special “Lights Out” experience where you avoid the creatures in total darkness with only a lantern to guide you!
Alaska Top Haunt: Fright Night Manor
Anchorage’s Oldest Haunted House
Anchorage’s Fright Night Manor takes top honors in the state of Alaska for the 4th straight year! Founded in 1985, this mostly family-friendly haunt is looking to secure a new location currently but it will be up and running.
If you like clowns, clowns, and more clowns, this is the place for you. The plan is for a large clown room, separate Nightmare on Elm Street and Zombie areas, and huge spiders. Expect scary 3D effects with your $15 ticket. Great scares around every corner, but not recommended for the very young.

Arizona Top Haunt: Mount Mayhem
Homemade horror at its finest! What started out as a simple family spook house has grown into one of Phoenix’s most best-kept horror secrets! Sets and themes are all homemade and authentic as Mount Mayhem is confined to a frightening backyard thus giving you little places to run and hide. Each year the themes are terrifying and different in their haunted capacities. For 2021, prepare yourself for an onslaught of phobias!
Arkansas Top Haunt: Carpenter’s Mortuary
Undertakers, Morticians, and Grave Diggers, oh my!
Charlie Bookout tells us that Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House is unique in that it occupies a historic 1929 building that once actually served as the Funeral Home for Gentry, Arkansas. The haunt as it is known today has been successfully scaring thrill-seekers since it opened in 2014, but the artists who run Mortuary Studios have been sharing their passion for the paranormal at this location for over 30 years. “We only use real ghosts . . . Just kidding,” says Bookout. “There are from 20 to 25 talented actors roaming the halls of Carpenter’s Mortuary Spook House each night.”
California Top Haunt: 17th Door
You will be begging for mercy!
Upon entering Perpetual Penitentiary you discover a vile and soulless AI entity is remotely controlling sadistic and foul experiments upon the guilty. Driven insane, the prisoners look to prey upon any suspecting visitors inside their hellish prison. The 17th Door is Fullerton, California’s (greater L.A. area) hottest attraction for 2022. The attraction runners have instituted an audible “mercy” rule for any visitors who cannot handle the experience because according to their site, there is a high likelihood of being grabbed and even getting wet while trying to escape.
Waiver forms are a must for anyone looking to take their chances inside, but anyone looking to extend their nightmares can do so by indulging in a fifty-minute post-17th Door attraction entitled “The Field Trip” where you will be transported slightly offsite to escape such fiendishly weird groups as Ravetown Furries and Ratrod Clowns. 17th Door also has a special behind-the-scenes docu-series called Spook Show 17 that you can watch via iTunes, Google Play or Amazon.
Colorado Top Haunt: Haunted Field of Screams
This corn field has the juice, and the death.
Haunted Field of Screams is the largest haunted attraction in the entire state of Colorado, boasting a forty-plus acre corn field that is hellbent on serving up the most terrorizing experiences imaginable. Based upon the real-life haunted Riverdale Road, Haunted Field of Screams has collected all the burned corpses, headless torsos, and frightening phantoms in one terrifying place for you and your friends to risk it all in hopes of escape. Take a dip in the lake they said! It will be fine.
Lake Joy sounds like any other tranquil location for gathering ones peace of mind……until you realize the name is only a draw leading straight into their Trails of Terror! A purely outdoor haunted attraction set in the most dreary of woods where a cadre of sadistic clowns, mangled women, and possible werewolves stalk you under the full moon’s bright. Consistent five star reviews adorn the social media for this mid-Georgia haunt were now upgrades in the form of line skipping and glow stick amenities are a must. After you see what’s in these woods, you’ll need all the advantage you can get to make it out. Opening at dusk and closing when……the last body is hauled out.
Hawaii Top Haunt: Haunted Plantation

Iowa Top Haunt: Thrasher’s House of Terror
14 Years of Fear….They Dare You To Come In!
Consistently rated as one of the top haunted attractions in the state of Iowa, Thrashers House of Terror of McMillan Park in Mt. Pleasant is one of the most popular haunts around! In fact, attendance has not only doubled but even tripled over the years because horror attraction fans just cannot get enough! Themes vary from year to year on this haunt, but (un)lucky attendees who are brave enough to test their fear factors can expect to run afoul of so many ghouls, ghosts, goblins, and demented horror freaks that you are bound to have nightmares! Kansas Top Haunt: Field of Screams
Don’t worry, you might not die.
In June 1966, the Spurlock family moved to the rural outskirts of Maize, Kansas. Bizarre and not believed to be of this world, the family farm soon turned into a bloody hellscape where screams within the property became so loud it caused a pestilence to be unleashed upon the land. Missing children in the area eventually lead to vigilantes who storm the farm in search of justice only to find none. Lured within the cornfields, the vigilantes were dismembered with chainsaws and their heads and torso swapped with that of dead swine in mutilations so gruesome that such depravities were too much even for demons.
Makes a kick-ass place for a haunted attraction, right? Field of Screams Kansas: The Spurlock Legend is looking to carve up the scares long into the night as unsuspecting attraction attendees attempt to navigate blood-soaked cornfield mazes with frights hanging around every stalk of corn. Kentucky Top Haunt: The Devil’s Attic

Grandview Manor is to be considered a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to serving up horror stories. While most haunted attractions will create a single story or theme, the twisted haunted attraction runners at Grandview Manor have tapped into humanity’s deepest fears and brought them to life.
